Vegan Chicago dawg!!

I grew up eating at Portillos and was delighted to discover that they offer a Chicago-style vegan hot dog, called the “garden dog.” I think it’s a field roast frankfurter and omg it was delish. Got it with a side of crinkle cut fries and a coke. Not the healthiest meal haha but SO nostalgic. There’s a definite lack of veg options in the south burbs, so Portillos should add more vegan menu items! If you build it, the vegans will come😄PS. I would order there; we ordered ahead for pick up and the bun was a little soggy at the bottom. Still delish tho!

FYI: according to their website their fries are made with beef tallow and are not vegetarian. Their veggie dog is cooked on the same grill as the meat, but in a "designated area".
