A little disappointing but still ok

We came here expecting a great feed based on prior recommendations on this app. Unfortunately it seems quality may have diminished in recent years.
We paid $30pp for 3 giant mushy veggie balls which had been microwaved then fried. Served on top of plain spaghetti with a jar of sweetened tomato sauce on top.
Initially it was topped in parmesan; our mistake, we did not specify we were vegan when ordering, although the menu did not say cheese included.
The olives I ordered as a side had come straight from the jar as well.
It wasn't bad, but felt it was very overpriced considering nothing seemed to be fresh.
The staff were lovely though and very understanding about our mix up with the cheese too.
Unfortunately we did not see any of the other menu options previously mentioned so our only option was the build your own pasta.

SO GOOD!!! Would recommend

The vegan options here are really well done. You have a choice of “make your own pasta” with veggie meatballs, vegan lasagna (more like ratatouille), vegan risotto and a lovely dessert option as pictured. If you’re ever in New Plymouth be sure to check this one out.

Pros: Clearly labeled vegan options , High quality food , So delicious

Cons: On the pricier side but good as a treat, Restaurant is pretty tiny

Great food

Had the vegan balls with grilled veggies and pesto. Tasted amazing. And they even had a choice of vegan desserts.

Staff was friendly and the place itself is nice and cosy. Would definitely go back.

Pros: Great food, Friendly staff , Vegan dessert

A fun visit for vegans and all!

Mix and match with the vegan options and create your own tasty meal! The balls are large (haha)so very filling especially with the vegan spaghetti, you can comfortably eat 2 or 3 balls if you're super hungry. Beautiful flavours and really fun designing your own meal. Lovely staff too, a great visit!

Pros: Vegan options, Design your own meal

Cons: Dessert could be better, , It also rotates so might not be vegan

Yummy and filling!

They have two vegan meatball options. I went for the teriyaki, rice and tofu balls, with pomodoro sauce on spaghetti. The sauce was incredible and I would have absolutely loved the balls but they had lots of onion in and I hate onion. I wouldn't have ordered if I'd known, but they weren't mentioned on the menu. Anyway, it was still a really delicious meal and kept me full all evening!

Pros: Two vegan options, Filling, Great service

Cons: Onion, but that's a personal gripe for me

Something different....

We enjoyed our food here. I had planned to try one each of the vegan balls on offer but the staff said that would have to be two separate mains (!?!) so I just ordered 2 of the Veggie Balls. Those with the Chimichurri Hummus on the potato Mash were my Main.

Not a huge portion but the flavours were great & the quality was very good.

It's a small restaurant & popular so a booking is recommended.

Being small, the tables are tight so when the couple next to us got served a squid dish, the overpowering smell really put me off my meal. I guess this can happen in smaller places that also serve animal products but it's still maybe something to consider. Unfortunately, that tainted the dining experience here for me.

The Apple Crumble dessert I had was very good. Again, good flavours & nicely presented.

It was something different & we enjoyed the food. The staff were friendly & attentive.

Pros: Some interesting options, Custom build your Main dish

Cons: Kind of expensive, Small dining space

Vegan options in an appealing bistro

Choose one two or three meatballs with a choice of spaghetti or other side plus sauce. At least two vegan choices for each and great vegan desserts.

Pros: Vegan just another option on a mixed menu, Staff knew about ingredients , Delicious food

Cons: Coconut replaces dairy so not a low fat option , Would’ve great to have a wholemealpasta option, Check your vegan dessert is marshmallow free

so good!

This place never disappoints. There are plenty of delicious vegan entree, main and dessert options, all clearly labeled on the menu and the staff are very friendly and helpful. They do take walk ins if they have a free table but I would recommend booking as they are very popular!
