Great addition to the Providence restaurant scene! - Edit
As a native Rhode Islander, Plant City is a much needed addition to the Providence food scene. Yes, Providence has some vegan options at certain restaurants (and the best vegan ice cream shop in the world, IMO) but prior to Plant City, (I believe) the city only had one full-fledged vegan restaurant. Something needed to be done!
Read morePlant City is great! I usually don't try new restaurants the first month they open, so they have a chance to work out the kinks, but by sheer coincidence, I already planned my annual Rhode Island trip on its opening weekend, so of course my husband and I had to try it. So glad we did! Incredibly friendly staff and awesome food. We were very happy vegans!
I currently live in NYC and have already tried Double Zero's Manhattan location, so we decided to go with Bar Verde. Such delicious food, my tacos were extremely filling and my husband loved his quesadillas. The margaritas were also superb, but by far the most amazing part of the meal were the plantain chips and mole.... OMG that mole! Incredible! Still dreaming about it a month later, and I'm so happy there is a Bar Verde in NYC where I can get it anytime.
In addition to Bar Verde, we also tried Make Out for breakfast the next morning. The options are breathtaking! Up until very recently it was near impossible to find (delicious) vegan croissants in NYC, and now Providence has them at Plant City! Providence, you should feel lucky.
As for improvements, I would say Plant City needs to work on their acai bowls at Make Out. I LOVE the buffet style idea. And I LOVE acai bowls, I make them at home every weekend, so maybe this is a preference thing (or possibly cost savings for them), but making the acai with yogurt is just not my thing... it's too sweet. Also, not a fan of the macarons at the market... again, this could be a preference thing, or the fact that NYC has like the BEST vegan macarons on the planet from Sweet Maresa, but my husband and I couldn't finish our (very) expensive macarons here... they tasted like pure sugar.
Overall though, such an incredible addition to Rhode Island. I remember growing up as a vegetarian in the state and it being such a struggle, so I'm happy that young veggies now have a home base to turn to!

Just go here - Edit
I went here last night for the first time. Had amazing pizza, great drinks and a wonderful time overall. I brought two non-vegans and they both loved it.

PVD gets more plant based friendly! - Edit
Incredible multi-restaurant experience, beautiful atmosphere, delicious food! Have already tried Double Zero (pizza & pasta) and Bar Verde (Mexican dishes) and shopped in the marketplace several times with so many new products to try. We are so lucky to have a place like this in our city and I can’t wait to try every dish!!!!

i walked into heaven - Edit
we visited double zero and bar verde in NYC and were so excited for plant city to open. we were not disappointed. so many options and everything looks so fresh. the food we had was amazing and the coffee is out of this world. if i lived closer i would go broke spending all my money there. the market has products that you can’t find in any whole foods so that was super exciting. and to the people giving bad reviews when visiting in the first week of opening, give them a chance!!! everyone is new to this and they’re working out kinks🙄 obviously you’ve never been a part of a restaurant opening or else you’d understand!

Good Luck getting any plants here..... - Edit
Good luck Anderson family you have to go back to NY if you want food or drink at Double Zero - Plant City. On the Monday - the third day after opening - this outpost of Double zero has run out. Of the maybe 8 cocktails on the menu....I order the gin & rosewater cocktail - sorry run out. All right give me the gin & sage cocktail...10 minutes later the waiter says the same...not available. Same with the Mezcal Margherita and the old fashioned! But you have to ask for each first and wait to get an answer - its a secret menu! Of the remaining 4 cocktails my partner orders one and she is unimpressed. Don't order drinks like Campari or Aperol they don't have them - its only an Italian based restaurant! I give up and try to be amused and not upset. So lets go for the food....about 14 menu items - half are pizza. After we discuss the lasagna, waiter says not available....its raw food but not available - guess zucchini and tomatoes are in short supply! Same with the meatballs - no longer an item. So we order the Michelin Starred Pizza! Well cashew mozzarella not available so good luck...but they finally find enough for one pizza. So good luck if you prefer their cashew cheese versus the rice based cheese. We had ordered the squash flower pizza but Matthew Kenny thinks you should only get 4 half flowers on that pizza. I thought this place was PLANT based food...you get a lot of dough and no flowers. PS - squash flowers are 2 euro for 40 flowers in Italy - guess they are pricey in Prov. Oh and the pizza base - soggy when delivered - not crispy, for $18 what do you expect - certainly not plants or cashew or Michelin quality. The waiter still charged for the non-existent items on the final check so make sure you look. $80 for a pizza, pasta and 2 drinks....we skipped dessert. Matthew Kenny says he is opening 40 more of these. I would rather these celebrity chefs stayed at each of their venues and made sure they work before opening more. Good Luck Providence

Very good, hoping will improve! - Edit
We visited Double Zero on their second day open, during the Pride festival in Providence (which occurred right outside the doorstep of Plant City). Inside it was very busy, but not over-crowded. Overall the food was great, though rather expensive, and the pizza crusts were over-done (the bottoms tasted very burnt). The best meal we had was by far the lasagne, and the best dessert was the olive oil cake (though the tiramisu was good too). Beware that options with peperoncini are spicy! The architecture of Plant City is amazing, and it is such a delight to have so many different vegan options under one roof. Looking forward to visiting the other restaurants in the space, and hoping the kinks are worked out at Double Zero!

We went to Double Zero on opening day and the food was out of this world. Margarita pizza and “meatballs” with Tiramisu for dessert. This place is amazing and I can’t wait to try the other restaurants.
