Unpopular Opinion- They Are NOT Amazing

We tried PC multiple times. We first went to the Mexican place upstairs for a date night and though it was ridiculously overpriced we loved it. We then went back for the set menu on Thanksgiving. The food wasnt up to par, the meal again was i sanely expensive and they didnt have what was on the menu, which was really annoying because we went for that specific food. We went another time to the Italian place and the pizza and pasta were ok-ish.
Were gluttons for punishment so we went back twice for pickup during the pandemic. The first time they forgot two of the five items we ordered, and the pizza was black and inedible. The second time they again forgot half of our items.
Twice the owner contacted us apologizing, saying shed send us giftcards. Twice we received nothing.
We have heard many things about how awful she is, including that a charity event took place there and they had to pretty much hunt her down to get the proceeds.
Not a place well be going back to.

Pros: Creative

Cons: Expensive, Burned Food, Mussing Items

I don't understand all the positive reviews either! I've been a few times, and ended up there again with friends the other night, and the pizza bianca was disgusting.

Love Plant City! You can’t go wrong with anything on any of the restaurant menus. Love the cacio e pepe, any of the pizzas, burgers and don’t forget the animal fries! And dessert of course! The only slight critique is their tiramisu. I didn’t care for it much. Otherwise, everything else I tried was delish!

Pros: Great customer service

Cons: Not so gentle on the wallet, but worth it

Coolest place ever?

Such an amazing place, several all vegan restaurants in one location!!
Downstairs you have beautiful outdoor seating for New Burger which is an American style restaurant. I had the most incredible Reuben and a nice hard kombucha. Inside on the ground floor is a nice bar, cafe, market, and salad bar type place. So many great desserts from the cafe and a huge selection of snacks and frozen items in the market as well some great vegan books.
Upstairs is the Mexican restaurant Besina where I had amazing elotes, Chile relleno, and tiramisu (the tiramisu and other desserts I noticed was in the dessert section for all 3 restaurants) and Double Zero the Italian place. When I come back I’d love to try the pastas and pizza from Double Zero!
Can’t recommend this place enough, just so awesome 👏🏻

Best vegan restaurant concept EVER!

I went here 3 times in 1 weekend, every day of my vacation. I wish this place existed in every city. It’s huge and fully vegan. The downstairs has take out options and a lot of tables. They also have a “marketplace” which is pretty small but they sell a lot of packaged specialty vegan items that you can cook at home like impossible burgers plus many snacks. There is a large, cute outdoor seating area. Upstairs there are two specialty dine-in restaurants, an Italian and a Mexican restaurant. I don’t usually eat Italian food since it’s not usually vegan-friendly so this was a nice treat. I preferred the Mexican place though. The burrito was absolutely delicious and the presentation was really fancy. Besides all the food being delicious they are also really environmentally conscious and all their to-go containers are compostable and they have clear signage. Their staff are very friendly and attentive and they have a lot of staff. I have no complaints and I wish more places like this existed! It also had a great vibe and was nicely decorated. I recommend this place to vegans and non-vegans alike. There is something for everyone on the menus!

My favorite restaurant of all times

I go there once or twice a week!
Plant city is my favorite restaurant I would lie if I say anything different!
I love the view, the atmosphere, people there…
Food is a bit inconsistent tho! Sometimes you can get a bit unlucky, but I keep going anyway! The only thing they could do better is consistence! I invited a few friends a couple of times and they had bad experiences with the food, too salty, or no salt at all… some days it is sooo good, some days not so much! But every time I try to go to a different place I regret it so … plant city it is! Maybe competition still so bad that they seem the best option for now!

Pros: All vegan , Lots of options three restaurants in one , Beautiful place, location everything

Cons: A bit Inconsistent

Brunch at New Burger

We LOVE the food concept of Plant City. So cool! I had the Egg Sammie, my partner had the bbq sandwich, and we split onion rings. The egg Sammie was pretty standard but I loved the shiitake “bacon.” My partner and I didn’t love the sauce in the bbq sandwich…I think it was soo sweet without enough acid. Onion rings were balm and so was the Bloody Mary!

the best vegan food

the food and drinks are delicious, the staff are so kind, and the restaurant that we ate in (double zero) was beautiful! definitely would recommend. We also went to the cafe downstairs the next day for breakfast, and the food was great. i got an iced dirty chai latte with a açaí parfait and an almond croissant.

Worth the 53 mile drive each way

We’ve been vegan for less than 3 years and used to love dining out a lot. Also we are not good cooks although we try. Honestly I’m quite surprised by a few less than stellar reviews here because we have been there 3 times in less than 6 weeks and drive 53 miles each way from Metrowest Boston. The first thing that hit me immediately was the “vibe” and extraordinary friendliness of the staff. We were overwhelmed by so many choices and they steered us in the right direction. We haven’t eaten anything that we didn’t love and always make sure we over order so we can have leftovers and bring a box of baked goods home from the bakery. My favorite cocktail is the Cherry Sangria. There is a cauliflower appetizer in the Italian restaurant where we lick the bowl. A server suggested ordering the pepperoni pizza and put the chopped salad on it. We will get that every time we go back because we loved it so much. Highly recommend the “cake in a cup” at the bakery take-out if you miss birthday cake. Maybe we have pedestrian taste but I would like to eat here every week. The riverwalk across the street is wonderful for a stroll and people watching. See you there❤️❤️❤️

Pros: Taste profile, Choices, Super friendly staff

Cons: Wish it was closer to Boston, Parking could be better but not horrible, Too many choices 🤣😂🤣

Amazing Plant Based Food Hall

We have grabbed dinner to go here almost once a week since this place has opened. Because of the different restaurants inside, together the menu is extensive. Each member in our family has a go to which as of lately hasn’t been very consistent. Often times our food doesn’t have enough sauce and they could perhaps go much easier with the salt. Sometimes the daily specials are not portioned as advertised on social media. However we still come back because we support their values, there is something everyone in our family enjoys and plant based options in our area are sparse. I love the small market they have, hoping someday they add fresh produce from local farmers. If you would like to eat there but want to try different items from each menu I recommend ordering at the grab and go counter. We really appreciate their holiday catering menu and the custom cakes available to order!

(Disappointing last time). Not this time. This time it was great!

I got the raw lasagna and it was fabulous

My partner got the pasta Bolognese and it was also excellent.

What can I say?. Glad I gave this place a second chance.

What could be better? Several vegan restaurants all in one place. I was so excited. I got the margarita pizza. The crust was soggy. The tomato sauce tasted Like canned tomato paste with no spices, no texture, no flavor. The cheese was good but there wasn’t much of it, just a few round globs of it on the whole pizza. It was really disappointing.

I tried the jackfruit sandwich. The jackfruit tasted off flavor. I’ve had jackfruit before and found it delicious. This was also disappointing. It tasted like it had been reheated too many times

I got a free chocolate chip cookie for downloading the app. It tasted too sweet and too oily- and those were really the only flavors. I’ve had delicious vegan chocolate chip cookies. This was not one of them.

I got a macaron. I would say it was very good but too sugary. Yes, they are supposed to be sweet, but they are also supposed to be delicate. This was way too sweet without the delicate flavors that one is looking for in a macaron.

We also tried the flatbread with the spinach dip. Another disappointment. The spinach dip was actually quite flavorful, not sure what’s in it, but parts of it were dried out like it has been sitting around too long. The flat bread was tasteless and greasy.

We also had two salads. The Cobb salad and something else. They were OK but nothing special. The vegan Cobb salad at the cheesecake factory is much superior.

I am so disappointed. The only thing that I thought was really good was the box of Matthew Kenney chocolates. $15 for five chocolates. But they really were good and unusual.

The menu and offerings at Plant city are so extensive that I probably will try it again. But certainly based on this experience it was almost entirely a let down. And it was expensive. I do not mind paying top dollar for good quality organic vegan food. But I do like value from my money.

Love!

This was a fun spot to take my two 14 year old boys. They blacked out, ordered coffee, pastries, chicken sandwiches, and loaded fries. All of it was great! The customer service was top notch from the moment we walked in. A nice marriage of quality food, beautiful ambiance, and kind staff.

Pros: Customer service, Decadent bakery selections, Creative takes on typical menu items

Cons: A bit pricey

My Prayers Have Been Answered

The food and drinks were amazing! We ate at the Becina restaurant which has a nice selection of Mexican food. They also have an Italian/pizza restaurant and a burger joint and bakery! So much to choose from!
At Besina, we tried an appetizer, main entree, dessert, and of course, cocktails. None of it disappointed. I personally had a hard time deciding if I wanted to save half of my meal to enjoy the next day or eat it all at once!
They also have outdoor seating/dining available. They are super convenient with options to reserve a table, order take out or delivery. They even have an app! I think they thought of everything.

Delicious food, fast service!

Delicious food, fast service! We went to Besina. I had a mocktail, the burrito, coffee, and churros. Divine! The churros came w/ whipped cream instead of chocolate because they were out of chocolate. Unfortunately, they were out of many things. I suspect supply chain issues and being a newer restaurant, but it’s okay to preemptively take those things off the menu. Our server was really great about it and really great in general.

Meh

I was very excited for this place, but the food let me down. Its underwhelming to say the least, in particular the chick'n tofu sandwich, which is just a battered and deep-fried-like block of unseasoned Tofu between two buns. Also, when you order take out, the salad is inside the box with the sandwich next to it. The salad dressing gets soaked up by the bread. That's not tasty. Your other option is the airfried fries, but they are an additional charge. I also tried the mashed potato pizza, and that was also sorta OK. I've had New Haven pizza before, so I guess I tried to compare it to that, and definitely shouldn't have.

I will say that I wasn't disappointed with the complex itself though. There's more than one restaurant, a market, a coffee shop, etc. That's awesome. Definitely stopping back for the drinks, and the pastries. The croissants they have are delicious, and the macarons are insanely tasty.

I couldn’t agree more. I found this place incredibly disappointing. Really the only thing that I thought was good was the macaron

PhyllisE

09 Mar 2022

Oh, and the macaron, although good, I thought was too sugary and lacking the subtlety one looks for in a macaron. And one little cookie was $3.50. Although if I’m there again I’ll probably get another. I spent over $100 trying all kinds of different things and practically all of them were disappointing.

call me disappointed

I used to love going to plant city. it was my safe haven. i haven’t been in a while, and i went today. i was so so sad. The matcha i got was watery, chunky, and had ONE piece of ice in it. steaming matcha and pouring it over ice is not an acceptable way to make a matcha. use a matcha whisk. don’t be lazy. as a vegan, i look for affordable options that are good. plant city was a stretch and i went because i was okay with spending a couple extra bucks. not worth it. it’s gone so downhill. go to a different vegan restaurant.

PhyllisE

Good food slow service

I was so excited to come to plant city. I got a delicious almond croissant and a macaron which I haven’t had in YEARS! We sat down for lunch, the buffalo pizza was incredibly yummy🤤 however- from the time we got our food our server practically disappeared. They also charged us twice for our order, and it took them a really long time to sort it out. It was annoying because we only had one day in Providence and we spent 45 minutes waiting.

Options for everyone

It was so hard to choose what to eat since they had so many amazing offerings.

We chose to get food from Double Zero, and got the buffalo chicken pizza and bianca pizza.

Loved both, the tofu on the buffalo chicken was light and crispy. Their blue cheese was the best vegan version I've had so far. The celery was a nice touch.

Bianca was delicious and hit all the right flavor profiles. Bitter, tangy, zesty, and so satisfying. The crust on both pizzas had a great chew.

Immensely disappointed with the matcha latte. Tasted like a blend of greens (like kale and spinach) with a hint of matcha.

Also got an eggnog donut. Tasty, but it was dense and heavy (probably because it was gluten free).

Pros: Variety, Nice area

Cons: Pricy

This review for Besina - Vegan Mexican in Plant City

We liked the ambiance of the restaurant. We ordered chili relleno, tlayuda which was like a Mexican pizza with jackfruit. All the food was flavorful and creative. Everything was healthy too. Service was good and the restaurant has lovely views of the water.
If we lived in Providence we would definitely go back!

Pros: creative, tasty, healthy
