Large vegan menu - Edit
I visited here from out of town and based on the name I was expecting this to be like a DIY Pita Pit kind of joint, but it's actually pretty classy and upscale. Unfortunately, the prices reflect this accordingly, but the vegan menu was pretty extensive and the food was good. (edited my review a bit bc I confused one of the dishes with something from another restaurant.)

You’re in the jungle baby!! You’re (not) gonna die! - Edit
The Pita Jungle in Flagstaff is in a upscale outdoor shopping area about 1 mile from downtown. The vegan menu was a nice touch. They use thinly sliced tofu and falafel primarily as proteins. We were in Flagstaff for 4 nights recently and ate here twice for lunch and once for dinner. #Veganuary

So many options!! - Edit
Love the falafel, the spicy tofu wrap, the caramelized cauliflower and tikka masala. This is great if you need to avoid gluten, everything is clearly marked. This is also a great place to go if you have omnivores in your crowd.

Wow, my first vegan goto sandwich! - Edit
Been waiting a long time to find this one. The Vegan Gyros. Sooo delicious. The vegan pita was soft and fresh and tzatziki was killer. Already had it a 3rd time this week. My family of meat eaters thought it was as good or better than the lamb option. Thank you PJ for the healthy meaningful comfort food you've been making for 20 years, and for keeping it fresh!

New vegan gyro!!!! - Edit
Pita Jungle Flagstaff is testing a new vegan gyro made from the local NexVeg vegan protein. They are even making vegan tzatziki (contains soy) and both are absolutely incredible! Definitely try it out. Their other seasonal NexVeg vegan options are amazing too.

OK - Edit
We had dinner here on our first night in Flagstaff. Service was excellent, quick and the waitress was very accommodating. The food was disappointing. I had a vegetarian sampler and while some parts were good, the dolmas were tasteless and the tabbouli was mediocre. My wife's portobellos were tough and not that tasty. This was surprising since we've gone to the location in Tucson and it was much better. Maybe we caught them on an off-night.

Did the Job - Edit
There are several pretty good meat-free options options, the portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable. The service was hit-or-miss, but it was fairly busy. Overall, it was good.

so many options! - Edit
When searching online they made it so easy to figure out what was vegan. We ended up getting garlic dip, falafel pita, caramelized cauliflower, and a plate with an array of things on it that I can't remember (I think we had to switch out the dressing to make it vegan). Everything was bomb. It was in such a cool industrial looking area, too. We came here just while passing through. I wish I had a pita jungle near me because I would be here all the time!

Amazing!!!! - Edit
My sister and I stopped in Flagstaff for a night during a road trip and looked on happy cow for food recommendations, and oh my goodness!! So so delicious. If you are a garlic lover the garlic dip is a must try! We had the falafel salad and falafel wrap and they were so yummy. If you head over to their website it lists all of the items on the menu that are vegan and their menu states that they can substitute tofu for meat if requested.

LOVED it! - Edit
This was one of the best meals I have eaten in a LONG time! Both the normal hummus and the cilantro jalapeno were amazing, the garlic dip was delicious and creamy, the gazpacho was so fresh, the dolmates were delicious, and the pita were great. We all loved every single bite of our meal and I can't wait to come back to try some of the (many) other vegan dishes were didn't get to!

Pita Jungle - Edit
My falafel wrap just wasn't that good. I've been to Pita Jungle in the past and liked the falafel wrap before - my tastes have either changed or this location doesn't make a good wrap. I had the cauliflower dish at a location in Phoenix a few days back and liked it (although it wasn't "the bomb" and the waitress had implied).

My first Pita Jungle experience and def not last! - Edit
We rolled into Flagstaff with a flat tire and pulled into the organic supermarket to fuel ourselves up. I sent my gf over to pita jungle to check out the menu since it looked so fancy and modern and popular, we were BLOWN away by the vegan option. They will veganize just about anything, but the main options are wraps, 1000 beans, and macro plate. The lemonade is really good, too. This is probably the best Pita Jungle I've been in, it has a full bar and a community table along with outdoor seating.

Will Always Remember the Fried Cauliflower - Edit
The thing I will always remember about this nice restaurant is the fried cauliflower with tahini sauce that was on the appetizer specials when we ate there twice in June of this year. Golden brown and topped with scrumptious tahini, this was the best fried cauliflower we have ever tasted! When we complimented it to one of the servers, she said that yes, a lot of people really liked it, and had urged them to put it on the regular menu. It went perfectly with my white wine!
Read moreThe Macro Platter was also very good, particularly the tofu. The second time we ate at Pita Jungle, my partner and I both had the Lentil Fetoosh Salad (after finishing the fried cauliflower, of course!). This huge salad features lentils and rice with caramelized onions, heaped upon a bed of mixed greens, tomatoes, red onions, and cucumbers, with a lemon vinaigrette dressing. This was very enjoyable and extremely filling (especially after the fried cauliflower appetizer!).
The atmosphere at Pita Jungle was very pleasant, and the service was quite good. With almost all of the tables occupied, and the sound of laughter, happy conversations, and upbeat background music, it was clear that this was a popular restaurant and we could see why. If we ever spend the night in Flagstaff again, there's no question where we'll be heading for dinner.
Pros: Outstanding food, pleasant atmosphere, various vegan and gluten-free dishes
Cons: menu is not 100% vegetarian
