Great little find - Edit
We stopped by on the way home to Funchal and had some vegan cakes and drinks which were lovely. The price is also extremely reasonable.

Totally agree with all the other reviewers!
Read moreI stayed one week in Santa Cruz, and was prepared to eat just chips, vegetables and fruits in case no vegan food options were available. I would have had all my meals here if opening hours had allowed.
Loved it❣️Oh, and matcha latte was super good too, and carrot cake, and whatnot…

Good options - Edit
There were a lot of vegan options. The hot drinks had 4 different plant milks available.
Read moreThe soup was very nice. I had a burger (chickpea and sweet potato) which was okay. The flavour was very little but the patty overall held well and wasn't mushy at all.
I had a tea which was very strong for my liking. I asked for a dash more milk (literally like a spoon more) and although wasn't expensive I was charged extra. Tea was nice tho.
Pros: Lots of vegan options , Good value
Cons: Have to pay for a dash more milk

Great place, also offer vegan dishes - Edit
Lovely place with nice staff. Vegetarian restaurant with many vegan options. Staff is very helpful what you can eat. Offer dishes like sandwiches, quiches and hamburgers. Burgers can come with vegan cheese as well. Also the cheapest place we have been to in Madeira (4 euro for a big vegan burger).

Many vegan options - Edit
Pimpinelas is a vegetarian cafe in Santa Cruz. They usually have one daily dish that can be either vegan or vegetarian. In addition to that there are multiple other vegan options on their menu. Those are multiple variations of burgers that can be made with or without a vegan cheese on local bun (bolo do caco) or rye bread; differrent kinds of toasts and desserts (muffins, chocolate salam). They also have 4 different kinds of vegan milks (oat, soy, almond and rice&coconut) for making lattes, cappuccinos, etc. Their staff is very knowledgeable and can help identifying all the vegan options.
Read moreWe tried black bean/mushroom and sweet potato/chickpea burgers on bolo do caco, green soup (broccoli, zucchini, etc), chocolate salame and muffins. Everything tasted really good, sort of homemade. Prices are really low compared to what we’ve tried elsewhere in Madeira. We noticed quite a few locals visiting the place while we were having our lunch. We will definitelly come back if we’re in the area. #Veganuary

Hidden vegan pearl - Edit
It took a while before we found it, but what a welcome stop it was! The very kind waitress helped us pick out the vegan options. There were a lot, but since we just wanted a little afternoon snack, we picked a toast. She told us we could take vegan cheese with tomato, olives and herbs or with walnuts for example. We took that first one, which was very tasty!

Vegan Heaven - Edit
We tasted every vegan option there while we stayed in Santa Cruz. They always offer vegan sandwiches (salty/sweet) and three vegan burgers with different burger patties (sweet potatoe with chickpeas / blackbean / soy), vegan cheese and burger bread or traditional bread. They’re also offering a daily changing menu which you can ask for a vegan version (some days the lunch menu can’t be changed into vegan). But for that days you have the sandwiches and the burgers. Afterwards you can choose between vegan muffins and cakes and have a coffee with almond/soy/rice or oat milk. Enjoy your meal! 😊
