Come Early. Wonderful Lunch Buffet With A Scrumptious Dessert Option. - Edit
During our stay in Vientiane, my partner and I came here daily for lunch! Like another reviewer said, it's best to arrive there earlier, and not at 1PM/1:30PM, when a lot of the buffet food was gone (but creating a meal for yourself is still possible). At the end of my meals here, I combined their green jelly with their coconut milk, which made a great dessert treat. The locals recognized my and my partner's face, and during our fourth visit, a young, English-speaking Lao person in a suit greeted us with a loud and grand "Hello!"😁He was the owner's son.

Good choice for lunch - Edit
We came here at 11 as recommended in other reviews and there was loads of food left in the containers. I think there was rice, 7 dishes of food, plus soup and rice noodles. All you can eat for 30k kip per person.
Read moreThe curry and Laab that day was very good.
Come when you are hungry for the best value as you can get a good sized meal cooked to order for less than 30k across the road at reunion cafe

Amazing Lao vegan buffet at low price - Edit
This daily buffet is excellent and very cheap (30 000 KIP, all you can eat). There are many Lao dishes, noodles, tofu, curry, vegetables, rice, etc., all very fresh and tasty. The owner is friendly, the room is modest but clean. Has a huge success so it's better to go early. A must-go in Vientiane!

Solid vegan buffet! - Edit
As with most buffets, some things are hits others are misses. Overall a great selection of lots of tofu dishes. The veggie sausage/springroll things were awesome. And the price cannot be beat.

Delicious food, lovely atmosphere - Edit
Definitely go on an empty stomach as it is 30K for the buffet, I hadn't eaten all day/night so I easily packed away a large plates worth. The food is delicious, it was warm with a lot of option. It was predominately tofu dishes when I was there but they did bring out several more dishes while I was sitting down eating. It's a really lovely place to sit outside and eat, with the vegan coffee shop next store that has amazing coffee. The food was delicious and the service lovely

Come hungry - Edit
You’ll be overpaying if you don’t eat a decent amount, but a good option if you like buffet style eateries.

Best value for money you will find in Vientiane - Edit
Pretty sure you won't find something better for this price. All you can eat lunch buffet which get's refilled all the time. I recommend to go here to get a nice local experience and to eat some vegan traditional food (Lao soup and Lao pancake).
Read moreAdd as much leafy greens as you like!
Owner is very friendly and helpfull. Used Google translate to ask which dishes didn't contain oil and she pointed them out for me (half of them had NO oil and half of them had little oil). A dish I really liked had oil but she offered to cook it for me without oil and she didn't charge me extra for it!
The food is quite plain but you can add spices, soysauce, etc. as much as you like. The bread I ate here is the best I had so far in Lao.
Has great coffee place next door!

Best value vegan in Vientiane - Edit
Phounsub Vegan Restaurant, Vientiane, Laos, 13th October 2017
Read moreGo west along Samsenthai Road from the intersection with Khounboulon Road (that intersection has the Centerpoint Boutique Hotel on one corner, the TMB bank on another, a photocopy store on a third while there is a construction site on the 4th currently). The Bridgestone sign is on the right side of Sansenthai about 100m from the intersection just described. Turn down the small side street on the right and walk about 100m. Reunion café is on the right and Phounsub is on the left.
Phounsub’s buffet is very good and sufficiently different from the one at Khouadin/Kuadin vegetarian restaurant. Perhaps fewer dishes but perhaps higher quality (or so we perceived them) – more whole vegetables rather than being more cut up or mushy. Restaurant very popular including with locals but dishes are replaced (at least while we were there) as they are depleted.
At just 25,000 kip/person probably the best value in Vientiane.
Pros: very good food yet cheap, clean and quiet, despite popularity, easy to find
Cons: only open at lunchtime

Tasty and cheap buffet style food - Edit
All you can eat for 25000 kips which was quite good value for money considering that the food is quite good. However, a lot of it seemed to have been sitting out for a while so recommend going early. We arrived at 11 and should have gone earlier. There was a make-your-own hot soup noodle in the corner which was quite tasty but not sure if this is a regular offering. They had simple dessert options included.

Highlight of Vientiane - Edit
As an avid veganomic tourist, I'm sad to say that Laos is one of the most uninspiring countries my stomach has ever encountered. Hence, when my herbivorous travelling companion and I chanced upon Phounsub (with the assistance of Happy Cow), our Laotian venture transformed considerably!
Read moreWith an abundance of fresh and cooked vegetable dishes (each with distinct flavours and textures), plenty of protein accoutrements, the choice of red or sticky rice, DIY noodle soups and a daily dessert - Phounsub's daily vegan lunch buffet turned our Vientianese hellhole into one of joy. Didn't even bother with the other local options, as we didn't want to miss our daily fix here.
Pros: delicious local 'veganised' dishes, warm friendly service
Cons: buffet lunch only :(

THE place to have lunch! - Edit
What a lovely place! For the humble price of 25,000 kip we had a delicious "three part" vegan buffet:
Read more(1) Rice with maybe 8 different vegetable and tofu dishes, all very good.
(2) Lots of fresh herbs and little things that you wrap in big salad leafs, dip in sauce, and eat like fresh spring rolls.
(3) Rice noodles, raw vegetables, and a rich and somewhat spicy stock that you mix together to make your own noodle soup. Probably the freshest and best I've had!
There is also some kind of jelly or pudding for dessert. Didn't try it though.
The setting is simple but nice, and the locals who have their lunch here were friendly, talkative, and helpful (which came in handy since some of the food and the way to eat it was new to us).
The dishes weren't always warm, but we found them all fresh (place opens at 11am, we arrived at around 12am).
We highly recommend this place!
Pros: great food, friendly and helpful locals, very cheap
Cons: food not always warm

Tasty Laos lunch buffet - Edit
Small restaurant, not overly flash. For 25,000 kip ($3) a selection of a dozen or so trays of food, plus desert and soup. Tasty, spicy, good quality. Small selection of drinks, ok to bring your own. Attached is a small shop selling veg products.

Pros: Taste, Inexpensive, Range
Cons: Sanitation, open food, a few flies., No brown rice (seems none in Laos!)

Yummy lunchtime buffet - Edit
A good lunch buffet, popular with locals, a short walk out of the tourist ghetto. It's true, many of the dishes were gone or almost gone by 1pm, but there was still plenty to hit the spot. Highlights for me were the battered eggplant, laap and sago dessert. The restaurant itself is a lovely space - open and airy with a sunny, plant-filled verandah. The workers are friendly. Great value at 25,000 kip.
