We drove all the way to Escondido from Downtown San Diego because of the rave reviews on SD fb page about this place. It did not disappoint. We shared the Gorditas & the mole enchiladas. Both were outstanding but anything mole always gets my vote. Dont forget to order their Agua del dia. We got a watermelon & it was super delish.

Best Vegan Mexican Restaurant in SD - Edit
This place is the best vegan restaurant in San Diego, hands down. These recipes were originally held with the owners abuelita where back in the day she used to cook out of her backyard for the community in Escondido with a line stretching around the block just to eat her food. The family then got enough money for a food truck and now they finally have a full blown restaurant. The recipes are made with love and are full of flavor. The portion sizes are large and filling. Each time my fiance and I come in the owner personally approaches us and lets us know of the days specials and any new items that have been added. I have tried every restaurant in San Diego that serves vegan mexican food and this is by far the best one. Our favorite dishes are the huarraches, chile relleno, gorditas, enchiladas and the taquitos. IT'S ALL SOOO GOOD! Do your taste buds a favor and give this place a try, even if it's out of the way :)

Delicious! Going Full Vegan soon - Edit
My husband, son and I visited Phatties last week for the first time, and were very excited with our find. The staff was very helpful with our selections. We shared some Gorditas, Pambasos and a Quesadilla, all vegan and delicious. They told us they will be going full vegan shortly. We will definitely be back soon!

The food and staff will keep you coming back! - Edit
The staff here are very knowledgeable and friendly. The Pambaso is usually my go to but everything on the vegan menu hasn’t disappointed. At most Mexican restaurants you can feel very limited on what you can order, but not here! Do yourself a favor and check out this hidden gem in Escondido!

They are located in a fairly nondescript strip mall. Upon first entering one notices the non-vegan menu above the counter, but on the sidewall there is a vegan menu with lots and lots of choices.
