Awesome surprise on the way home from Tahoe

We were definitely not expecting to find a vegetarian restaurant on 88, but we accidentally happened upon this wonderful little restaurant and enjoyed an amazing meal as well as absolutely wonderful customer service.

It's obvious that the owner takes a huge amount of pride in each meal he sends out. The ingredients were all fresh and perfectly cooked. I think a lot of the veggies are grown in their garden! The owner's daughter was the server and she was incredibly attentive and kind. She even gave us turnovers to go....they were also delicious.

I wish I lived closer as I would absolutely eat here regularly.

Vegan Getaway

This place is a bit out of the way for most, but between the Shenandoah Valley wine country & South Lake Tahoe. They have a small vegetarian menu with PLENTY of vegan options & are very accommodating. Their burger with a cup of soup are worth the drive!

Hidden Gem

If you pass by highway 88, don't miss this place. They have great vegetarian selections like the vegi burger which tasted great. Their espresso and mocha caffe tasted fantastic. We found this place by accident on our way home, because we wanted to stop by for coffee, but glade we did!

Pearl's restaurant

My sister and I saw the listing for Pearl's on Happy Cow and decided to stop on our way home from a trip to Yosemite. This mom and pop place aims to please! There was not anything vegan on the current menu that was also gluten free so after some discussion about what I liked to eat they suggested making some vegan tacos with sautéed Portobello mushrooms, onions and added black beans, fresh tomato and onion and lettuce with homemade fresh tomato salsa. They were delicious and only $2 apiece! My sister had the vegetarian panini on homemade bread and thought it was great. Very friendly atmosphere. Wish I lived closer so I could go back often. Be sure and give this place a try. If you have special needs just ask what they might be able to create for you.

Pros: delicious food, very reasonable, friendly atmosphere

Cons: a little hard to find.
