Decent - Edit
This was a great spot. Lovely decor and friendly staff. The cakes looked amazing but weren't gf so I didn't get to try them. I had the chickpea fries. Was just looking for a snack.
Read moreThey had good flavour and excellent texture! I felt the dipping sauce wasn't the best / best pairing but still enjoyed it.
I would go back to try other items

Beautiful desserts and food - Edit
Peacefood has some of the best vegan food in NYC and is a must if you're in the Union Square area. They have a mix of raw desserts (Key Lime Pie!!!), gluten-free baked desserts, and vegan but not GF baked desserts. Try the Fluffy Quinoa Salad, Chickpea fries, and Pumpkin Quiche. And don't forget the Grasshopper cookie, a mint chocolate sandwich cookie. They've been consistently good over many, many years, with no signs of slowing down. Prices are very reasonable for the neighborhood.

Saturday Lunch - Edit
We grabbed lunch here during a weekend trip. The chickpea fires were the best we ever had; they were what every other chickpea fry had tried to be. Then I got the Japanese Pumpkin sandwich and my husband got the Miso Tahini Sprout sandwich. Both were okay but neither something good enough to order again. I would visit again and try something else as a main and order at least one if not two orders of the chickpea fries.

Cons: Under seasoned sandwiches, Both sandwiches were messy

Loved this place - so many options! - Edit
We sampled the chick pea fries which were great, and I was able to specify dressing type on salad and add extra protein. Was happy to be able to stay low carb while vegan!

If you are hungry and looking for average good vegan food than it’s ok you can pay 15 to18$ for a plate. Dessert is the same quality. Nothing amazing everything is average good. Ot also feels like they do anything and everything.

Long wait, lots of options - Edit
Ordered a sandwich, chicken and waffles, and sushi.
Read moreThe sandwich (with Japanese sweet potato) was terrible. Truly a nasty sandwich. Wrong texture, bland. It’s the reason why people refuse to eat healthy food lol
The chicken in the chicken and waffles was great (fried tofu) but the waffle was dense and unpleasant.
However, the vegan sushi is great! Tasty, fresh and probably the only thing I would get here again although at $16 a roll I’d think twice about it.
Pros: Fresh options , Extensive menu
Cons: Long wait , Expensive

Excellent vegan option downtown - Edit
They have a nice variety of options here. We started with pan fried dumplings which were delicious then shared the vegan burger ( came on delicious focaccia) stacked with lettuce, tomato, pickled jalapeños, yummy sauces and waffles and “chicken “. Both were amazing! The burger came with fries which we also shared. We were completely stuffed when we were done! The vegan chocolate chip cookies we took to go was also pretty great. Definitely worth a try!

One of my favorites - Edit
I lived in NYC for over 19 years, and Peacefood Cafe was always one of my most favorite places to eat. The pot pie, the caesar salad, the wonton soup, basically any dessert - I loved everything I ever ate there, except one time, and that was the quiche. The only negative thing I ever had to say about either location is that the service was very spotty: I often spent a long time waiting to be served in any capacity - ordering, getting water refills, getting the check - but the food was always worth it.

Their food is truly delish, and even my non vegan mom agrees. I definitely had some sort of reaction, not sure what from/why, but regardless their food was great and I’d go back if I can figure out what happened to me (nothing too serious)

I got the chicken and waffles. They were amazing...a little too much syrup maybe, but not many people would complain about that. The peppermint tea was great also.

Fine restaurant (though a bit loud) - Edit
I have eaten here many times with friends--it never fails to please. The food and service is really good, and everyone I have been with enjoys eating here. One thing: the place can get get a bit loud, making it hard to carry on a conversation at times. The uptown branch of Peacefood doesn't have this loudness issue--it might be that the acoustics of this venue are a bit brighter.

Great lunch spot - Edit
I have been here many times and it’s always an excellent choice. The chickpea fries are excellent and I get them every time. Also good are the chicken dishes (especially the pfc un-chicken bracket with chipotle sauce), the wonton soup, the soy nuggets, and all the dessert cakes!

Good place, picked wrong dish - Edit
I went there for breakfast. The environment is great and the service is amazing. The only thing is that I didn’t really like my meal... I believe the problem is the choice that I made, as everything else looked delicious. The tea was delicious.

Great Meal - Edit
Hubby and I really enjoyed our meal. He had the Pot Pie Special (Yummy!). I had the Fluffy Quinoa Salad (Fantastic!) and the Strawberry Shortcake (icing was a bit too sweet for me, pastry part was excellent and strawberry filling was the best part. Really glad I tried it.) Excellent service and excellent food. Definitely a good find and a great meal. :)

We are big fans of the uptown PeaceFood, fantastic staff and charming decor but the downtown location is the sophisticated sister. The pumpkin quiche was amazing, and the dumpling soup was delicious.
