Leuke plek aan mooie wandel routes! Ze hebben best wat vegan/vega keuzes. Ik had de Thaise kokos soep vooraf maar dat vond ik niet zo lekker. Het was vooral kokos en niet Thais.

Lovely place on a bad day - Edit
This place is in a lovely location in a nature area. Half of the menu is vegetarian/ vegan. There's loads of space outside for when the weather is good, and inside looks nice as well.

Unfortunately, the day we came they were completely overwhelmed. At first they said they couldn't serve us food because the kitchen couldn't handle more (it was 13.15). We asked if there was anything basic they could offer, as I had just gone for a long walk and was hungry and they said no.
As there is not much else close by, we stayed anyway for a drink. Later they started taking orders again from new people on a table next to us, hadn't thought about coming to us first when they started serving again.
When I complained they explained that they had two staff that had to go home ill. They were apologetic, and I understand that these this happen, though that still doesn't explain that they didn't come to us again first as soon as they started serving again. Or offered us at least just a portion of chips.
Not very impressed by how it was run this day. But I am giving them the benefit of the doubt and still really appreciate the menu with a lot of vegan and vegetarian choices.

Cons: Bad day with staffing issues , Handled the staffing crisis poorly

One of the very few really vegan friendly places in this area outside of the cities of Zwolle and Meppel.
Read moreI had the Club Sandwich Romijnstuw. The vegan version is basically the vegetarian version minus the cheese. Too bad they don't have vegan cheese, but the sandwich was great anyway. The Vegan Deltakoek (G11 koek) was one of the best pastries I've had in a long time. I can best describe it as a sweet, fudgy cookie. I will surely pay a visit when I'm near there in the future!
Also absolutely visit the Waterloopbos if you're interested in history of Dutch waterworks. It's an old open air laboratory where Rijkswaterstaat did field research for big waterworks like the Oosterscheldekering. The name of the restaurant and some of the dishes (like Romijnstuw) is derived from that laboratory.

Venue is excellent, located at the entrance to a lovely nature reserve. Has several vegan options which are clearly marked on the menu. Staff is super friendly.
