Authentic vegan Malaysian salad called pasembor - Edit
Pasembor is a Malaysian salad that contains sliced cucumber, sliced Jicama, hard tofu, and fitter (the non-vege version of the fritter contains sliced shrimps) and also hard-boiled egg, with a tomato-potato based gravy (the orange color gravy in the photo)
This stall sells a vegan version of pasembor that does not contain eggs, and the fried dough is plain (does not contain shrimp).
Amongst all the vege-friendly pasembor sold in Penang, this one is one of the best, because of the gravy, which you can taste the tomato-sweet potato combination. The fritter is freshly fried and also crunchy to the mouth.
Overall a highly recommended dish.
The dish comes in 2 sizes. The basic one is RM5, but you can ask for a large portion at RM6 (which is not stated in the menu)
Starting tomorrow for the next 9 days, in this area will be the annual 9-emperors vegan streetfood festival, happening throughout Penang. You can tell by the distinct yellow banners. Stalls that typically sell meat will convert to vegan during this 9 days. The street along side the Super Tanker is one of the main vegan streetfood venue, the other being Burmah Road, and also Raja Uda in Butterworth. Do come and enjoy 9 days vegan food galore
Yessir! Went to Burma Road today - but all the food stalls are along the side street of Madras Road😄Found some delicious stuff. I live close to SuperTanker and have seen them setting up the stalls for the past few days and will surely indulge there as well. Also taking a quick trip to Butterworth tomorrow for the big opening ceremony and then on Thursday I’m off to Phuket to experience the festival there as well!!

Actually we have been eating there regularly since it opened about half a year ago. Should have added the listing here sooner
