Delicious! - Edit
Loved our meal here! The menu has vegan items clearly marked, which is always a relief. The portions were generous and we ate ourselves silly. I highly recommend the channa masala, the vegetable samosas, and the hot pickle.
Read moreThis was our first indoor meal since the pandemic and since getting the vaccine. We were the only customers, but I can only imagine how awesome this place would be in normal times! Friendly, attentive service, Bollywood movies playing on the TV. Hope to come back soon!

Best food of the trip!!! - Edit
Vegan options in Savannah were very disappointing EXCEPT this one! The food was so flavorful and rich and filling. The server was very attentive and knowledgeable. Vegan options were clearly marked. I had the samosas, dal makhani, and paratha. SO GOOD. If I lived close this would be my weekly stop. Most other vegan options in the area were bland but I’m so glad this one was not!
Read moreUnfortunately they were empty and seem to be struggling, especially with Covid, so make sure to stop by for some bomb vegan food and to support a family business. Us vegans are in trouble if we’re only left with boring chain restaurants.
Pros: Delicious and affordable, Clearly marked options, Small business-home cooked
Cons: Serves meat , Needs more customers

The vegetarian section of their menu pleasantly suprised me. Not only were entrees separated out but appetizers were too! This was actually my first time trying indian food and I was blown away. The veggie samosas were to die for and I really enjoyed my vegetable biryani. Great service, great food, and lots of options for both myself and my carnivore friends.

I often get take out - delivery. It will take a bit of time, they aren’t super fast - but it is totally worth it.

Not worth it. - Edit
This place is super expensive. Yes, they have vegan options clearly marked on the menu, but the food we tried was bland.
Read moreWe asked for mild dishes. One of them was spicy and both of them were bland (mild doesn’t mean spice less.)
Also, we ordered a ‘chef special’: gobi (cauliflower) Manchurian: $17 for half a cauliflower?? Really? It wasn’t worth the price. I’ve eaten in Indian restaurants in 3 continents (including India), and this place is not good enough to deserve a second visit.
Pros: Vegan options
Cons: High price, Flavorless

Totally recommended - Edit
Just had the yummiest meal at Pakwan Indian Restaurant. Loads of ~labeled~ vegan dishes, and a nice vibe. My friend ordered vegetarian but not vegan food and the owner (?) came over to double check that she knew it wasn't vegan. He also made sure I knew which sauces were and were not vegan, without my asking. Really recommended!
Pros: Nice staff, Labeled vegan, Nice vibe
Cons: None, None, None

Pakwan is AMAZING - Edit
Even though this isn't a vegan restaurant, I would give Pakwan 5 stars if I could. The staff is so friendly and willing to recommend vegan/vegetarian dishes if you need. As soon as one of the staff learned that me and my husband were vegan he made sure to tell us what dishes we could eat. Pakwan is a wonderful restaurant with a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious authentic Indian cuisine. We go there once a week it seems!

An oasis in Savannah for Vegans - Edit
An oasis in Savannah for Vegans seeking more than a salad or juice. The service is impeccable, Jivan really thought about what to have the kitchen create for me. I ordered a custom Dal and Aloo Gobi. The dishes were fragrant and delicious made from fresh vegetables. They also made me Vegan Chai with coconut milk! This is a new go-to favorite for me! I suggest you call ahead in the late afternoon to give a warning for dinner as lunch is a buffet.

Pakwan Savannah Indian vegan surprise - Edit
Passing through Savannah on a long trip, with only grocery stores and my own provisions as a source of vegan vittles, it was a treat to happen upon this Indian restaurant which offers many vegan vegetable based menu items. To start, I asked for a vegan version of Mulligatawny soup which along with the vegan samosas were just as expected tasty and aromatic and served with a choice of chutneys. The tamarind sauce was a bit runny compared to what I expected, but that familiar sweet/ tart hint pleased the palet. This restaurant has a vegan bread available as well, paratha. I ordered two vegetable dishes clearly identified on the menu as vegan with a side of rice. The bhindi payaaz, a flavourful mix of okra and onions was very nicely spiced and pieces of yummy okra. The dal tadka, yellow lentils with popped mustard seeds, was substantial in texture and flavour and really completed the meal. I was in the mood for something chewy so I, discreetly, added a few cubes of the sprouted organic tofu that I had with me and ate a bit with the tamarind sauce to end. This was all very welcome. Service was excellent, even given our late arrival, last served for dinner, just before 10:00 pm.

a wide variety for veggies - Edit
A good selection of vegitarian and vegan dishes. Almost all vegitarian dishes can be veganised. Very tasty, well presented food with good portion sizes. Wait staff are attentive and very polite. Comming from the uk I love a good indian meal and this did not dissapoint.

owner caters to veggies - Edit
I've been to Pakwan several times and the waitress and chef have been really helpful with reviewing the ingredients in each menu item. They are able to veganize a lot of the vegetarian menu items of which there are tons. The lunch buffet is great for vegetarians but vegans will have to order off the main menu. I met the owner and he is vegan himself. He said to ask for him (or have them call him on his cell phone) so he can direct the chef on a special vegan meal. This goes for any vegans that go to the restaurant. I can't wait to go back!!!!

A Ruby among Tin Cans - Edit
We read about this restaurant on your website and decided to give it a try. Our waiter, Rinku, was kind, efficient, attentive and informative. As a New Yorker, I get kind of cynical about eating Indian food other places, but Pakwan got it right. The aloo paratha was huge as were the veggie samosas. No, it's not New York, but the prices were good and the selections tasty.
