We came during lunch time when they offered a vegan basket filled with bread,olives and two delicious homemade spreads. Wonderful pöd building with a calm, beautiful yard to eat and enjoy the view. Dogs are welcomed. Actually it is also a B&B, surely also worth an overnight stay!

The courtyard of the restaurant is picturesque and romantic & the views are incredible. Tables were far enough apart that your neighbours can’t disturb you. Our visit emulated the slow lifestyle of Tuscany and it was a very relaxing place to have dinner.
As for the food I can say with confidence that this is the best vegan food I’ve had so far. It was absolutely divine. I tried new combinations and tastes and enjoyed every single dish.
We enjoyed the chats with the owner in between courses and appreciate the suggestions for our adventures in Tuscany.
Thank you for the directions to the restaurant, the friendly welcome and hospitality and the incredible food. It was an experience we won’t soon forget. 👌

Fantastic plant-based dinner - Edit
Osteria del Vicario is now a completely plant-based restaurant. We chose the chef's tastery and have not regretted it for a second. What a taste experience and a feast for the eyes. Very friendly and passionate explanations for each course, both from Eric and Eleonora the chef. When we are in Tuscany again we will definitely come back!

Conoscevo questo ristorante grazie alla pagina Instagram e finalmente ho avuto occasione di provare il loro menù degustazione vegano (da gennaio 2024 sono 100% vegano, dopo un anno di “transizione” vegetariana).

Location stupenda, una corte in un ex monastero del 1100 con vista sulle colline toscane.
Possibilità di pernottare (nelle ex celle monastiche convertite in camere con bagno) con colazione inclusa.
Torneremo sicuramente.

ho ristorante dalle 1000 sorprese, grazie alla cuoca eccezionale eleonora e a suo marito Eric abbiamo fatto un viaggio tra sapori e accostamenti veramente ricercati e ottimi. È stata una bella scoperta, Davvero un posto da visitare!

Read moreAmanti delle cene fuori, da quando abbiamo fatto la scelta di diventare vegani e sempre stato complesso trovare un ristorante che potesse proporre piatti vegani pensati e contemporanei; che potesse accorpare la cucina e l'ambiente da ristorante gourmet a piatti vegani; dove ogni allergia o intolleranze viene trattata con grande rispetto e dove non si propongono le classiche verdure grigliate/pasta al pomodoro e bruschette al pomodoro!
Pensare che questo ristorante ci è stato consigliato da dei nostri amici che mangiano volentieri sia carne che pesce e sono rimasti sbalorditi dai sapori spettacolari dei piatti e dalle tantissime idee che si possono tirare fuori plant-based!
Cantina vini eccellente, nessun grande nome per scelta, selezione di piccole cantine solo Toscane con uvaggi anche poco conosciuti e grandi monovarietali che ci è stato spiegato essere una passione dei proprietari Erik ed Eleonora!
Dobbiamo tornare non appena verrà aperta la terrazza esterna che è pazzesca, siamo riusciti a buttarci un occhio dopo cena, nonostante fosse brutto tempo, si ha una vista a 360 gradi delle colline intorno, non vediamo l'ora di godercela con le giornate di primavera!
Hanno anche delle stanze al piano di sopra essendo un vecchio monastero, dove le celle dei monaci sono state ricostruite a stanze B&B...così ci hanno spiegato!
Super consigliato a tutti, soprattutto a chi vegano non è per scoprire che la dieta vegana può essere tutt'altro che noiosa o con sapori blandi! Ragazzi provate!!

Ci sono pochi posti dove possiamo mangiare tranquilli, senza sentirsi in difetto, senza dover rinunciare a nulla e finalmente qui, ho trovato anche eleganza e ricercatezza.

Noi abbiamo scelto di fidarci del menù degustazione sul quale avevamo anche uno sconto dedicato ai nuovi clienti veg. Mai scelta fu più giusta. Un percoso senza troppi fronzoli tra antipasto, primo piatto, piatto principale e dessert che ci ha lasciati soddisfatti. Le porzioni sono ben misurate e non ci si alza con la sensazione di gonfiore tipica di cotture pesanti e condimenti eccessivi, qui è tutto controllato e misurato anche per me che ho diverse intolleranze. Il vino eccellente, da una carta ben articolata tra piccole cantine e prodotti di nicchia. La location è incantata! La terrazza è qualcosa di magnifico non vediamo l’ora infatti di tornare in estate, l’interno è più piccolo, ma ti riporta indietro nel tempo, infatti l’Osteria è all’interno di un antico monastero, il chiostro con le varie finestre piombate, con le luci soffuse e la musica in sottofondo è il luogo romantico PERFETTO. Il prezzo è perfettamente commisurato al servizio, lo consiglieremo tantissimo e torneremo, quasi sicuramente per San Valentino! Ci hanno infatti fatto sbirciare il menù dedicato a quella sera in anteprima e avevamo l’acquolina in bocca! Venendo da Firenze però forse ci fermeremo a dormire per evitare di fare tardi, visto che hanno anche le stanze b&b ne vorremmo approfittare!! Teneteci un posto! A presto! M&G

Una sorpresa sensazionale - Edit
L'osteria del vicario non è solo cucina. È un viaggio attraverso le erbe, le materie prime che la Chef prepara sapientemente in ogni piatto. Noi abbiamo scelto il menù degustazione che è stata la cosa più giusta che abbiamo fatto dopo esserci sposati. La chiusura della nostra luna di miele perfetta 🧡

Romantic location with great food, but a bit too expensive - Edit
We went to Osteria del Vicario for dinner in very early October. The place is run by a very welcoming couple and linked to their B&B. They do also except outside guests. We recommend reserving a table through their website/FB/WhatsApp as the number of tables is limited.
Read moreWe could have chosen the tasting menu (EUR 59), but went with the menu à la carte (EUR 42 for two dishes, EUR 54 for three or EUR 65 for four - minimum of two dishes per person). The menu is 90% vegan as per their own words and they can veganize all their dishes except for the desserts.
We particularly enjoyed their new seasonal autumn dish (pumpkin topped with carrots mousse and aquafaba foam) and their “BBQ leek filled with veg ragù with aglione sauce”. These two dishes were our clear highlights.
We also very much liked the “Fregola cabbage cashew, pears, grapes and soy” as well as the “Cardoncello Mushroom on Truffle Hummus”. The other two dishes we had (“Spaghetti spirulina and salicornia seaweed” and the red cabbage with “Eggplant cannellini beans cream and red pepper with Nduja veg”) were unbalanced and a bit below our expectations. For desserts, only one out of the four options was vegan unfortunately - but it tasted great. We were served two small amuse-bouche and one small mignardise.
We arrived a bit late and the restaurant closes fully very early (9PM). Nevertheless, the service was very friendly, competent and made us feel at ease. They stayed open a bit longer for us and didn’t rush us. The location is very romantic and cosy, but you may want to come earlier if you want to enjoy the view before sunset.
Although the dishes/location/service were great, the price was a bit steep (à la carte for 2 or 3 dishes is not worth it, EUR 6 of coperto per person, the EUR 4 for a caffee doppio, etc.).

A gem! One of the best vegan experiences I've had in recent years - worth a detour to Certaldo just for itself! - Edit
Certaldo's claim to fame is that it's the town where Boccaccio's lived for a substantial part of his life, and where he died. There's a lovely medieval upper town (linked with the lower town and the train station with either the funicular or a picturesque trail up the green hill), a nice museum, palace and church. But I dare say the town is worth a stop for the Osteria itself! It's one of the best vegan gastronomic experiences I've had in the recent years. The restaurant is fully vegetarian and they will accommodate vegans with twists in their dishes wherever necessary. The cuisine is creative, surprising but above all delicious! You can either go with a tasting menu or with 2-4 dishes à la carte. I've only had three, maybe I should have gone with four! A great crunchy, sweet and salty "macedonia" vegetable/fruit salad as a starter, delicious (and visually beautiful!) seaweed spaghetti, and a grilled watermelon (yes!) in BBQ sauce with potato puree (prepared especially for me without parmesan) and caramelised onion as the absolute star of this lunch. Worth every cent! Great location, beautiful views over Tuscan hills and wonderful, friendly staff are additional advantages. But you could really just come for the food!🤗😂

I was absolutely blown away by the food, service and venue! The restaurant used to serve fish but went fully vegetarian/vegan in January 2023. The whole menu can be made vegan and they even accommodated our onion/garlic intolerance. The waiter was super friendly and helpful - the chef even came out to apologize for not having a vegan dessert for us. I couldn’t recommend it more highly. I signed up to Happy Cow just to make sure it had a listing! The food was insanely delicious and looked as good as it tasted - blue spirulina on the spaghetti! Definitely worth going out of your way to stop in to Certaldo and Osteria Del Vicario.
