Good, but very inauthentic

I hosted a vegan meetup here a few months back and while almost everyone agreed the food was yummy, we also all agreed that it did not taste at all like we expected it to. The food was certainly Mexican-looking but did not have the flavor of Mexican cuisine. The margarita was very good, but they did not have any Sangria the night we went, which disappointed some guests. The portion sizes were inconsistent, with some items labeled as "small" being the same size or larger than regular sized items. Additionally, the sweet potato tacos were reportedly difficult to eat as the "tortilla" part fell apart when picked up.

Should be a 5.

Honestly the best food I’ve had in South East Asia. I’ve been feeling a bit home sick where so many cities do not cater for vegans and have been living on fries half the time. I had the vegan Mexican combo and it was delicious. My boyfriend had a meat burrito and said it was incredible.

Pros: Service was incredible, excellent English. , Free water and refills. , The food is to die for.

Cons: A bit on the pricey side but worth it in my eyes.

Some of the worst food Ive ever had.

I made this profile just to leave this review. I was very excited about finally getting to eat here as Ive seen so many reviews online. I like to think Im a reasonable person, don’t have that high of standards, but this was horrible (slop), I finished less than a 3rd of it, paid the 280 Baht and walked out. I had ordered two main entrees, both the burrito and a Mexican plate (basically you make tacos), again I ate a little bit less than a 3rd paid and left. EVERYTHING I was served was clearly made AT LEAST the day prior and maybe a lot later. The leftovers were taken right out of the fridge, put on a plate, and served to me, leftovers served cold with no attempt at heating. I think the main issue might have been that I was the 1st one in there and maybe they weren’t ready, so they just served me the leftovers from the day prior. At least try to heat some of it.

The rice was the biggest culprit, served STONE COLD and soggy, clearly right out of the refrigerator, made the day before, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was made a week before (it tasted like multiple days prior). It was BAD, just cold old SLOP, absolutely inedible, from its soggy cold temperature clearly spooned right out of a container from the fridge (not in anyway heated) and slopped onto a plate and the problem is it was sort of the main ingredient in the burrito. I kept trying to spoon it out, it was cold soggy, and absolutely inedible, but there was just too much of it.

The chips were from the night before. They tasted stale, I did still manage to eat them. The taco shells were a different story, looking at them they were small flour tortillas lightly fried, also tasted very stale. Im guessing fried the night before and tossed in the fridge, and than served, again stone cold (no heating) and very stale. I couldn’t eat them, ate half of one and left the rest on the plate.

The beans were ok (as leftovers they last longer). I ate the beans.
The guacamole was good. Needed some seasoning, but obviously avocado based, and it actually tasted fresh, probably just used a decent avocado. Maybe guacamole just tastes a lot better than the other leftovers I was served when it is right out of the fridge.

This was a horrible experience and honestly you couldn't pay me to eat here again. Someone seriously needs to tell them what can and what cant be saved from the day prior and reserved to unsuspecting customers, because some of those old leftovers they served me were just gross.

Pros: It looked good. , The gucamole was good, used a decent avacado.

Cons: The rice, stone fridgerator cold, old and soggy., Tortillas, made at least the day prior VERY stale., The above two leftovers were unedible

So Accommodating! 🙏🏼

I waa really wanting to try this place and yet ended up at Birds Nest Cafe instead because it was on the way. Then found out at dinner time they turn into Olé! I was beyond thrilled had a good priced smotthie and waited a half hour for dinner.

I eat very clean and therefore rarely do I eat out. Everything I asked about changing the meal to what I could easily eat she not only said yes but was excited to make it happen. I found out the sweet potato tortillas have flour/gluten in them so then she says I can make them with no flour. Just like that😍 I asked if it was possible to cook the veggies in just water- no oil and no salt. Done. Easy. And to have a bit of salad on the side (not on the menu)? Yep! Really I realized I could of easily creates my own meal with whatever they had available it seems. It came out beautiful and for once with truly no oil or salt! (Most places still put some). The tortillas were really just mashed sweet potatoes which for me was so perfect as I only eat whole foods.

Pros: Accommodating, Great service, healthy choices, Love in the food

Cons: Did not get much veggie toppings for my tortillas., Was the amount for 1 instead of 4.

Good food with local produce

The food and drinks were amazing and the menu clearly states vegan options. I had the vegan tacos. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about veganism despite the communication barrier. They also use metal straws and recycled paper napkins! The restaurant is quite tucked away, but worth the find.

Leckerer Mexikaner

everything on the menu has a vegetarian and vegan option to choose from!!

We really enjoyed our meal here, great service and delicious food! The write up on the menu explains that they don't use GMO corn so they make pumpkin tacos (which are delicious!) and no palm oil in cooking. Would definitely recommend.

horrible

Mexican food with veg options

This place is a little away from the main touristy area but it's a nice modern restaurant with a few veg options. The burrito wasn't exciting and the nachos originally came out with cheese, but they kindly remade the nachos to be vegan and they were fantastic. The free appetiser was appreciated.

Mexican restaurant with vego options

I called into Ole Gourmet Mexican for dinner this evening ... it's nice clean cafe in small alley off Thapae Road ... I ordered the vegetarian pumpkin tacos (฿180 on menu but ฿200 on bill ???) ... the filling and vegies were tasty and spicy however I cannot recommend this dish as the taco shells were very thin and collapsed while being eaten ... vego options are cheaper on the menu

Pros: vegetarian and vegan options

Cons: bill more expensive than menu

great Mexican!

Good location opposite Thapae East where they play live music. Ordered vegan nachos, pumpkin burritos with refried black beans and salsa, (hold the sour cream!) and 2 quesadillas 'cos they were so darn tasty. Indulged in a margarita which was v. good too. Would go back for more vegan nachos - no vegan cheese but they were still delicious.

Pros: - very tasty food, - super vegan friendly, - good service

Cons: avocado out of season but that wasn't restaura

surprisingly really good!

I didn't expect to find good Mexican food in Thailand, but this place is excellent. Nearly every dish has a vegetarian/vegan version. We had pumpkin tacos, chips and salsa, and guac. All Excellent.
They use high quality ingredients, and our food tasted super fresh and healthy!
A short walk from warorot market.

Great for Vegans

Great thing about this place is they actually offer vegan items in the menu and they are at a reduced price without the cheese and meat, so many veggie-friendly places just hold those ingredients without lowering the price. The vegan burritos are also oil free and they are massive. Even the small size will fill you up for just 60 BAHT. Or get the large for 100 but you'll need to be really hungry! You can also get the vegetarian combo as a vegan dish and it's really delicious too.
Location is right near Thapae East Jazz Bar so you can listen to some cool music whilst having a vegan meal and maybe even a cocktail!
