Good food but the wait is too long

Have several vegan and a lot of vegetarian options. However, especially on the weekend the wait for the food could be too long, we waited for ~40 minutes. The food was good though, but not groundbreaking. We tried to come there another time but the staff warned of the longer wait and we didn’t stay. So better not come here very hungry.

Pros: The food is good, A lot of vegetarian options

Cons: Not many vegan options, The wait is too long

Not Many Options

Not many options, and the vegan breakfast I had wasn’t really upto much. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere though.

Limited vegan options

I didn't check how it is for lunch but for breakfast there is not a big selection for vegans. I ordered the vegan breakfast. It liked how it was spiced and it was really filling but i expected a bit more mushrooms and vegetables. Also the service is really slow so you should bring some time.

Nice place

I went to this cafe several times.
It's a nice change when you stay long in Chiang mai.
They are not fully vegan but have many vegan options.
I really like it

Pros: Viel vegetarisch, Einiges Vegan

Cons: Mann muss ewig warten bis das Essen kommt, Viel ist ausverkauft Auswahl dann sehr gering

Relaxed vibe, homestyle food

Cute and relax cafe spread over 2 floors of a Lanna-style house on a quiet road just inside the old city. Portions are on the small side for Westerners but cheap enough to have a couple of dishes, what's not to like? All the food tastes homemade and cooked with care. Delish soups and deals like 'cup of soup and half a sandwich). Green curry was tasty.

Pros: Cute place, Comforting food, Cheap

Cons: Small portions, Somewhat limited menu, That's it!

Limited vegan but cool place

Not many truly vegan options on the menu (most are vegetarian, with meat option) but the cafe is really cute and relaxed in a quiet part of old town. Had the vegan hash, which was no frills but quite tasty. Juice was good, fruit and coconut smoothie just tasted like coconut milk.

Delicious curry

Had the green curry (vegan, gluten-free) you'll find most vegetarian thai dishes are vegan (since eggs/dairy aren't common here. I saw the reviews here are crappy! I disagree. My friend and I both enjoyed our meals, felt the staff were friendly, and our food came at a normal time. Also have access to unlimited water pitcher. I am vegan/gluten-free.

Pros: authentic thai, vegan and gluten-free options, floor seating

Ridiculous waiting times

We ordered two granola pancakes and two teas, which were all nice, but took an utterly ridiculous amount of time to come out. It took 40 minutes for our teas to be served, another 10 for one pancake to come, and another 10 for the other to come; my girlfriend had finished hers before mine had even arrived. It wasn't particularly busy, so I'm not sure why it took so long; we just got the explanation that they make their pancakes from scratch, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't take that long to make pancakes. Got a partial refund after complaining, the food was tasty if overpriced, and it was a nice atmosphere. Would have been a one star review if not for the refund.

Pros: Food is good, Nice vibes

Cons: Ridiculous waiting times, Overpriced

Great food in Chiang Mai!

Cute place with a medium sized menu. You can get a lot of breakfast options, sandwiches (on fresh baked bread), Thai dishes, and a lot of fruit and juice/smoothies. We got the Big Green Sandwich (avo, tomato, mozzarella and pesto), and it was filling and delicious! Their soda options were great too. Would definitely come back!

Pros: Menu is vegetarian (meat can be added), Great tasting food

Cons: No alcohol

what a nice inviting place!

Located in a quiet soi off a main road in the Old City, has an open, shady, quiet, friendly vibe to it. The food was excellent (green curry) which was inexpensive and came with brown rice at no extra charge. A place that I plan to return to...

BTW the description says they serve meat, but I am not sure that is true - I only saw vegetarian options on the menu. Might want to double check that.

Pros: inviting, delicious food, friendly guests and staff

A great spot to while away the afternoon

I have been coming to the Bird's Nest for two years in a row and I will return next year when I am in Chiang Mai again. I always have the pesto (with homemade bread)/salad plate and the choco banana smoothie. The ambience is lovely and no matter when I come there is space to sit and stay a while.

Pros: Ambience, Local food

Cons: Please put more vegan food on the menu

vegetarian and vegan options

I called in to Birds Nest cafe for lunch and had the vegan breakfast (฿90) ... a previous reviewer posted a photo of the same dish so it's possible to say that the portion size of the dish is consistently rather small ... the price is high even taking into account the foreigner target base of the cafe however the food was quite nice ... the staff were super friendly and helpful

Pros: vegetarian and vegan options

Cons: not a budget cafe

LOVED IT

really tasty vegan breakfast for 90 Baht, classic breakfast potatoes with a Thai twist. my coffee was amazing, a french press for 50 Baht lasted me three delicious glasses. the coconuts are reasonably priced and tasty. and good music! great vibe to sit on the floor cushions, read from their library, or play board games with friends. Quiet and relaxing time. Will be coming back !

Dishes are OK

They have quite a nice range of healthy veggie dishes including many vegan ones or ones that can be made vegan. However, some of the dishes are at a high price for the portion size that you get.
They also sell coffees with coconut milk instead of dairy.
They also sell some organic products as well as a vegetarian cookery book.
