Sabores amorosos - Edit

It was flavorful. Friendly service. I didn’t have a cocktail but I’m fairly positive they had a decent variety of drinks. I would definitely go back. It’s very casual ambiance.

Deliciosa comida vegana - Edit

Upscale Mexican Cuisine - Edit
This place offers a wide variety of traditional mexican dishes. However, this is not the traditional food you would find anywhere, the ingredients used for every dish make them quite elaborate.

One of the best meals on this trip - Edit
By far, one of the best meals on this trip. Ojo de Maíz is a lovely place doing exciting things with its food. We ordered four things:
Read more1. Sopa de habas secas y chochoyotes: soup of dried beans and corn dumplings
2. Flor de calabaza rellena de calabacitas: fried squash blossoms stuffed with zucchini and mushrooms on roasted tomato sauce
3. Betabeles y aguacate tatemado: grilled beets and avocado salad on a pistachio and hoja santa emulsion
4. Chicharron de trigo en salsa verde y roja: chicharrón made from wheat in green and red sauce
There are so many highlights to call out—the soup with its corn dumplings, which I’ve never had and want in ALL my soups now, the fry of the squash blossoms, the grilled avocados, the wheat chicharrones…
And definitely can’t forget the staff who were so incredibly kind. Aside from being patient with my broken Spanish, they gave me the name of a song I liked that was playing over the speakers. Now each time I listen to the song (el jardinero by Gus), I think of that wonderful meal.
Pros: The lovely walkway on Amsterdam St. to the store

Amazing - Edit
Great place with more upscale vegan interpretations of traditional Mexican dishes. A little bit on the pricier side, compared to other places nearby, be makes up for it with flair and presentation. Clientele can be a bit snooty from our experience.

Maíz, please! - Edit
Traditional Mexican ingredients are used to produce creative renditions of traditional and original dishes. You need to order something made with maíz like the delicious tetelas or the panque de elote (corn bread) with popcorn ice cream.
