Nice ambience and creative plant forward food - Edit
The food is really focus on plant flavours. My fave was the guacamole with plantains. The rice pudding dessert was also great and large. Generous portions over all. I will be back to try more.

Lovely food, cosy and great staff - Edit
I really liked the food here. I went for a simple fried broccoli, but it was so much more than simple. To drink I had a moka and horchata with coconut milk. The horchata was extremely tasty. For dessert I went for some coconut ice cream which did not disappoint. Very attentive staff and a fancy restroom as well. They also sell some vegan products like corn snack, ice cream and coffee.

Not the best - Edit
The food was okay, but the restaurant was completely empty and no other guests came the whole time we were there. Big downgrade: Both toilets were wish [censored] and it was not possible to flush it

Favorite vegan restaurant in CDMX - Edit
CDMX has a lot of great all vegan restaurants but this one stood out to us. Everything we had hit the spot. Felt really good afterwards, nothing too heavy but absolutely delicious. One of the two restaurants we made an effort to return to during our visit (the other one was Los Loosers).
Read moreThe restaurant has a nice laid back/ slightly upscale vibe.
Pros: Bean soup , Really everything we tried was top notch, Location (Condesa)

Amazing food, very unique - Edit
Food was incredible and very different from the usual tacos & enchiladas. We had the pumpkin blossom appetizer, bean soup, and chicharron. Venue felt a little more upscale and service was great.

Super chill, open air room opening on to these tree lined boulevards in Mexico City that make you feel like you’re in a city jungle.
Read moreSuper tasty watermelon horchata to start. Great appetizers. But it was the vegan mole enchiladas that blew our socks off. SO good. Just not how us gringos think about and cool with chocolate. Yum.
So nice to be vegan and have so many choices on a menu. Love that. All vegan.
Highly recommended.
Pros: Mole enchiladas, Watermelon horchata , Lovely room, nice staff

Not quite as good as the hype - Edit
We tried the esquites (like elote but off the cob), the bean tetelas, and the sweet potato pambazo. The esquites were our favorite thing. People who are not used to different kinds of corn might be put off by the firmer texture of the kernels, but if you know you know. The crema on top was really delicious. The tetelas and pambazo were both good but nothing mind blowing. The flavors of the pambazo were good, but it was all soft. It needed some crunch or texture. The menu said they offer vegan cooking classes, but when I asked the waiter he said they aren’t currently offering them, which was a bummer.

The best vegan food I had on my trip - Edit
There are so many wonderful vegan restaurants in the area. It really is a joy to be a food tourist. But Ojo de Maíz is the only one I had to return to. The gentle earthy flavors are were new to me, flavorful, but not trying too hard. Reasonable prices, great location. I will definitely be back.

Nice find - Edit
I was surprised by the twist on traditional dishes, although I found the flavor somewhat weak. I had Panuchos de Cochinita de Repollo (pibil cabbage) and I missed the strength of the achiote. I would like to go back and try other dishes

Very dissapointed - Edit
We went here after a long day of walking around the city and were so looking forward to it as it has pretty good ratings on here. We went in around 8 and there was nobody else in there which should have been our first warning, My friend and I then ordered some cocktails which I would say were one of the better things they have there even though I didn't even get a buzz and that's coming from a light weight. We got the Esquites to start which were very firm and soupy. I was expecting it to be more charred and creamy. I had order the mole but the waiter gave me the Broccoli dish instead which I don't know how that happened as my Spanish isn't that bad and I even pointed to the Mole on the menu. I was starving though so I just ate it because I didn't want to send it back. I was shocked though that they just had steamed broccoli and some sauce as a main dish, I ate it all and was still starving because there was barely any protein/substance to it. My friend was also not very impressed by their meal either. We then shared the Rice Pudding creme brûlée which was pretty decent although the rice seemed to be a bit on the undercooked side even though it was in a pudding, it was served beautifully though and I did enjoy the fresh berries. Overall I will not be returning because the price compared to the rest of cdmx restaurants, especially when this was subpar food was insane.

Great place for a nice, quiet dinner - Edit
After a full day of sightseeing in the bustling city, I wanted to enjoy a quiet upscale dinner and this place delivered. They don’t have cocktails, but do have a good beer selection. As gringos, we had to order guac, which was very different (in the best way) with tofu and pomegranate. We also had a corn soup appetizer that was phenomenal. The al pastor tacos and pombazos were both really good. Highly recommend!

I wish we had a Mexican place like this in Chicago - Edit
We had two chances to come here and after our dinner with them, we had to come back to try more from their menu before we left the city.
Read moreEverything we tried was great and something unique to Mexico. I can't claim any spiritual experiences but I can say we will be coming back next time we're in Mexico, even if we're staying further away. IT'S WORTH THE TRIP.
Our favorites were the esquites, chicharron and the tetelas. I would also recommend trying the agua de guayaba.
The staff was incredibly friendly and even brought out a small bowl of water for our dog.

Superb, fresh Mexican food - Edit
The staff are very friendly. The food is sooooo good. The location is great and close to other vegan options. We will go back again for sure. We had the stuffed pumpkin flower, bean tacos and rice pudding between the two of us. Also, tried the red and pink Mexican wine. The latter was the better choice.

Instant fave. Creative, fresh & amazingly tasty - Edit
Ojo de Maiz stands out even among the many excellent restaurants in Mexico City, with its combination of virtuosic creativity, fresh, high-quality ingredients, warm service and inviting atmosphere. It’s one of the two or three best places we’ve found in Mexico (along with Los Loosers in Roma Nte). Here you can assemble a feast from several small dishes, each with its own unique wow.
Read moreThe squash blossom appetizer is extraordinary. The guacamole is unique and very tasty. The enchiladas with mole and tacos al pastor are also quite good. The tinga flautas with guac are nice in a fresh and simple way. The melon seed horchata is refreshing. And if you’re inclined toward dessert, the rice pudding is surprisingly rich with flavors.
Seating options include the main dining room, plus a couple of tables on the sidewalk as well as a charming private dining room next to the kitchen.
Service is warm and helpful. The atmosphere is very pleasant (though the music can be a bit loud for easy conversation, depending on where you sit). Both Spanish and English menus are available.
Highly recommended. Enjoy!
