Japanese-Lebanese Fusion

I found this place on HappyCow while searching for a place in Wedding. The Japanese-Lebanese fusion immediately caught my eye and I knew I had to go.

I went with a friend and the medium-sized restaurant was pretty empty so we had no trouble finding a table. The interior design was simple and minimalistic with some decoration here and there. In one room there were tables where you could sit on cushions on the floor. We sat in the other room next to the entrance where instead of chairs there were wooden boards on stacked empty beer crates. Funky. I liked it.

Behind the counter in the tiny kitchen were a Japanese-looking woman and a Lebanese-looking man so I'm assuming they were the owners. The Lebanese man was very friendly and nice to chat to, which really elevated the experience. In the end he asked for a review to which I replied, "Oh, definitely, on HappyCow!". Based on his reaction I'm not sure if he knows what HappyCow is. :D

On the menu there is only one thing to order food-wise and it changes each day. When I was there it was a Maloubeh with salad, fried tofu with daikon oroshi, and a hakusai miso soup - all for 13,50€. There was a small drink menu with beer, wine, arac, homemade lemonade and tea. A 500ml bottle of Sternburg beer cost just 2,50€ - what a bargain!

The food had a strong homemade vibe to it, which definitely can be nice, but unfortunately I was not that impressed by the food. It was alright, but nothing special. I also had a piece of some kind of cake (3,50€) and it was alright.

Despite the somewhat lacklustre food I might actually go back here just because of the interesting vibe and very friendly service.

Pros:
