Vegan nacho heaven - Edit
This is the first time I’ve been here, and it won’t be the last. Tons of vegan options that are clearly identified on their menu. Nachos are my go-to, and these were delicious; big portion with the perfect amount of heat. I ordered them to go, and by the time I got home the chips were still crisp and not soggy (I don’t mind the soggy bits). They come with soyrizo, but it wasn’t overwhelming. The guys behind the counter were really kind. There was a line when I got there, which is saying something! For long time locals, it’s located in the food court next to the old Century 16. Deserves 5 stars!

Hidden gem - Edit
It's kind of a hole in the wall, I wouldn't ever find this place if I wasn't told about it. I'm never disappointed, I absolutely love [vegan] Mexican food so this is up there next to Doomie's NextMex on my list :)))) so good. I like their rice a lot

My Mexican go to these days - Edit
Love me some Notre Sur, lots of Vegan options, without skipping and flavor. I love this place, because my husband can dine at Sea Ranger next door if he’s feeling some Vegan Sushi ( like tonight). I love supporting this local business.

Great Mexican Stop - Edit
When I call a Mexican Food place a "hole in the wall" I mean that as a compliment. This is a great "hole in the wall" Mexican food place that offers many vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options.

Love eating here when I want a cheap, quick and yummy meal. In a food court that is very slow and has easy parking. Love all the vegan food options and the salsa bar with many salsa to choice from.

Great vegan options! - Edit
Would give it 5 stars if I could, but Happy Cow reserves those for completely veg restaurants. Norte Sur has TONS of vegan options that are clearly marked. They even feature vegan specials, desserts, vegan horchata, etc. Basically every category in the menu has at least a couple vegan options at this point, and they are all great! We've been going here regularly for almost four years now and they are always adding amazing new choices without taking away old favorites. The prices are very reasonable, the portions are filling, and the people are super friendly. Truly a hidden gem!

Delicious! - Edit
I was looking all over for a Mexican restaurant that served vegan or vegetarian options and what do I know?! It’s only a couple of minutes from where I live! This place is really good and the staff is really nice too! I would definitely recommend their red salsa vegan enchiladas. My boyfriend isn’t vegetarian but he seemed to like their vegetarian options as well! I wish I could give you guys 5 Stars!

Authentic Mexican - Edit
Not 100% vegan, but TONS of vegan options including horchata. I had a soyrizo torta. It was really good and filling. It had more oil than I care for, but I don't expect healthy food when I eat out.

Mexican food - Edit
When you drive up to this place the pillar says Mexican food. It is very delicious and they have watermelon juice usually. The owner is always there and he is super helpful and knows the difference between vegetarian and vegan. I highly recommend this place for vegans and vegetarians to take any meat eaters they know. I even got my stubborn gramma to enjoy a vegan soyrizo taco!

What A Great Find...Vegan Mexican Food! - Edit
Every once in awhile you just have to "pinch" yourself to believe it's really true, but it IS! It took me a minute to sink in as I walked up to the HUGE menu board to notice that all the Vegan and Vegetarian choices are written in GREEN PRINT. And it's not just a few "token" Vegan Menu items... there are MANY gorgeous Vegan choices to boot!
Read moreAnd happily, the owner (Geraldo) obviously knows the difference between Vegan and Vegetarian eating preferences
because he features ingredients like "Soyrizo, but no cheese" items for Vegans AND Vegetarians are aptly acknowledged by "cheese with no meat" meals. WOW!
Happy Cowzers, this is a place you definitely want to make a stop at if you are anywhere near the Ventura, CA area. The Pico is good, but the mild Red Sauce is fantastic. The Vegan Nacho plate was calling my name today. It was piled so high with Vegan Soyrizo, refried beans, rice, a generous portion of guacamole and so much more. And after going into a "Food Coma" from eating so much, I somehow get the feeling that my left overs are are going to feed me for at least TWO more meals. That alone should bring you by Geraldo's place.
While he doesn't have a website yet, he showed me his generous "free food" flyer offering for visiting his Facebook page (see photos). I've captured his menu in the photos section of the reviews so you can view the many Vegan and Vegetarian offerings listed in "green print." So when you stop by, you'll expect to have a "hard time" choosing just "one" meal. Don't forget that you can always plan a return trip or two. Well, what the heck... you'll probably want to keep coming back until you try them all! That's what I'm planning to do, even if I have to drive down over from Ojai everytime. See you there!
Pros: Multiple-Item Vegan Menu, Facebook "Free Food" Offer , Ample Parking

Hole in the wall heaven - Edit
After reading the description of Norte Sur, I was surprised to find that it was a tiny stand inside a small strip mall. However, the menu had vegan and vegetarian items clearly marked, and even though they serve meat they have a wide variety of options, including burritos, tacos, tortas, and enchiladas., even nachos. The food was freshly made and very good. It was also quick and the service was friendly. You order and pick up at the counter, and dine in the common eating area. Take out is availability. Soft drinks only.
