Good food, comfortable cafe

This is a comfortable and quite upmarket all-vegan cafe near the National museums in the centre of Oslo. You order at the counter and the food is brought to the table. There’s a mix of menu items (which you wait for) and salads/specials (served straight away). They also sell a good-looking cookbook which makes a good present!

Would not go again

I really like this place conceptually but the food was OK at best. Although we came for lunch, everything already tasted a bit old and lacking flavour. The satay noodles barely came with any sauce, the fried dumplings were tasteless, the lasagna was meh, and the chocolate cake tasted like supermarket boxed cake.

On top of this, the space was dirty. Used napkins and disposable coffee stirrers on the floor, tables full of used plates for 30 mins after guests have left, bin overflowing in bathroom.

For £57 for two people, it was definitely not worth it

Way too expensive

They had very few options in general, more for desserts though. I liked their soup but the mushroom pizza was way too salty and the mushrooms were very oily.

The staff was very friendly though and the atmosphere is nice too.

But way too expensive for what it is - I had a soup, a pizza, a tiramisu and a kombucha for 55 euros. The food was really nothing special and half of it I couldn’t eat because it was too salty. So, unfortunately, would not come back or recommend this place.

100% Vegan

It is so nice to go into a place and know everything on the menu is available to you. We went twice while in Oslo for 4 days since I didn't leave room for dessert the first time. Both visits were excellent with a friendly staff. Portions are large so pace yourself and leave room for dessert.

Pros: friendly staff, vegan dessert, many choices

Cons: dinning room is small and bit tight

Nice place

Exactly what I needed, food is tasty but cold, it’s canteen style so sometimes not fresh out and like warm sadly
But nice plant based food

Pros: Options , Price

100% Vegan 100% yummy

Another vote here for Nord Vegan. Lovely staff and atmosphere. Slightly unusual set up in that you go in and order what you want and they dish it up in front of you there and then. (Think high end school canteen, where everything is fresh and yummy and the staff don’t hate you)
Things like burgers and pizzas also available which they cook separately. No real theme to the choices as you see from the menu.
Gorgeous cakes too.
A haven in Oslo and Norway which is perhaps less vegan friendly than other European cities.
Really wanted the cook book but no space to bring it home 😔

Excellent option in Oslo

The restaurant was modern with a pleasant ambience. The menu had a good selection, I visited on 3 occasions and had the beyond burger with fries, lasagne and mushroom pizza and was very happy each time. Staff were also good, before they brought the pizza to me they informed it had been burnt and will start again, they gave me a juice as an apology, I appreciated the honesty and proactivity.

Pros: Good selection of food , Good quality of food , Pleasant staff

Disappointing

We asked if the chk'n burger had soya in it because my son can't eat soya. They said yes, so I tried to order the Beyond burger instead. They insisted that that too had soya in it. I asked them to check, because Beyond Meat make it clear that their products don't have soya. But the chef and staff insisted the burgers had soya! They don't. Beyond Meat don't use soya in their products. So either the Beyond burger at Nordvegan isn't Beyond meat or they don't know what's in the food they sell.
I had the Thai curry. It was canteen quality with mushy cauliflower. My son had a pizza which he left 2/3rds of.

Super yummy

My boyfriend and I found the food delicious. I had a soup with bread and it was very nice, my boyfriend had a satay noodle bowl which also came with a spring roll (very yummy), and tofu skewer which also had the satay sauce. The sauce was really flavourful and tasty.

You get the food instantly as it is all served at the counter and made ahead of time, so good if you want something quick, but not the same dining experience as a sit down restaurant. They also had free tap water you could grab yourself.

Pros: Delicious food

Cons: A little expensive

So much choice: oyster mushrooms are a must

The staff behind the counters serve your food as you watch. Yes it is pre-prepared but it looked and tasted very fresh. We had Indian Curry, truffle mushroom ‘chicken’ and a pecan pie. The mains were served with rice and salad, a choice of salad dressing. We added fried oyster mushrooms to the top of the curry. The portions were generous and we both felt full afterwards. We would definitely return.

Pros: Entirely vegan , Fried oyster mushrooms, Lots of choice

Cons: Quite expensive compared with uk prices , Lack of flexibility to mix and match

Not that impressed…

I was encouraged by the positive reviews to go but honestly I was not convinced… I don’t like the fact that the food is presented like that in a buffet style sitting there for ages. The other half is basically a salad buffet. Super expensive also. I ended up taking a carrot cake since it was supposed to be their signature dessert but I wasn’t impressed. The Biscoff latte was expensive and didn’t taste like Biscoff.

Very good restaurant

This restaurant has a nice atmosphere, it is clean and the food is laid out buffet style but you order and the plate will be prepared for you. We tried the soup of the day, the lasagna and the noodles. All was very good, what stood out for me was the cheesecake which was soft and creamy. We also tried the apple pie and again it was really good. The staff was lovely and smiley. It's a wonderful spot to have a cup of tea or a full meal with friends, family or by yourself. It's very close to the Historisk museum which is absolutely worth a visit.

Pros: The cheesecake, Great atmosphere , Lots of choice

Pros: Nice environment, pleasant staff

I really enjoyed my meal here.

This is a very conveniently located restaurant, near the old city square. Just a couple of blocks from The Grand Hotel. There is a menu on the wall over the hot bar, but most of the food is served cafeteria style, out of warming trays. I got the lasagna, which came with a mixed green and vegetable salad. I also got the crispy sushi roll. The lasagna and the sushi were very good. I also got a couple of jalapeño poppers. They were good, but if there was any spice to them, I didn’t notice (welcome to Scandinavia). I got a big slab of carrot cake. The cake portion of the carrot cake was excellent. The icing, sadly, was the typical bland and largely flavorless white icing that vegan places often put on carrot cake. Note to everyone: Carrot cake is frosted with CREAM CHEESE icing. The cake was 9/10. The icing was 4/10. I digress.😄

Nice Restaurant, food lacks flavor

The restaurant is very well located and quiet Cosy. Everything looks really tasty and appealing, unfortunately the chicken and mushroom curry I had, was not so tasty and lacked seasoning. The chocolate cake on the other hand was quiet good.

Pros: Very friendly staff, Good variety of drinks and food, Tasty cake

Cons: Food lacks seasoning

Brilliant Cafe

If you are in Oslo City Centre, it is highly recommended to come here. The food is very healthy and very tasty. The cafe is a really clean place centrally located in the city centre. I have come back again before I fly back to the UK as it was so delicious and reasonably priced. 100% recommended 👌
