Sheer Ignorance - Edit
I have been a loyal shopper at this establishment for many years, they have great products, selection, staff and reasonable prices too. I have recently learned of an incident involving this establishment over a misunderstanding regarding a customer shoplifting from them. I don't know all the facts but from what I can tell, this business acted in the wrong and instead of confronting the people they were having issues with, they called the police on a long time customer. Makes me think, will they do that to me? Could I innocently end up in jail? I can't in good conscience continue to patronize a place that does this kind of thing. I learned of all of from a website called www.boycottnaturespantry.org

Ruined my friend's life - Edit
Ruined my friend's life. Basically falsely accused him of shoplifting (he accidentally remove two products from store while only paying for one, later called them back offering to pay them back. They called the police on him (the cop pleaded with them not to press charges). This was after he had spent well over $1000 at the store over a number of years. Ultimately, this led to him spending time in jail. After he did spend time in jail, he became extremely jaded and actually did resort to shoplifting (he had the attitude that why behave morally if he is going to be punished anyway; and his life was such a wreck that he wanted to go back to jail), and now he has a felony record. I contacted Nature's Pantry about how this affected his life, they were very dismissive and literally screamed me off the phone after telling me a bunch of lies. If the store properly apologizes to my friend, I will remove this review.

Great Variety! - Edit
I am really impressed by the variety of items they carry! I agree with another reviewer, this is where we go when we need something that we can’t find anywhere else - if it’s unique and healthy, they probably have it!! We also love to see what new (to us) treasures we can find when we go there!!!

The best natural food/bulk food shop in State College - Edit
Nature’s Pantry is a gem among the rough. With a solid 40 item of bulk grains, nuts, seeds, chocolates, beans, etc. and lots of dried fruits, baking products, snacks, freezer items, kombuchas, cheeses (vegan and local), homemade energy bites, and much much more, they do a great job of stocking your shelves at home with whole food goodness.
Read moreThey even have pet supplies, cleaning supplies, and kitchenware too!
They have an impressive cosmetics area too; lots of supplements and healthy and beauty products too. Certainly a section I haven’t explored yet, but for those who know their stuff.
Staff is always super friendly and accommodating. Sometimes only one or two people working at a time, so be patient.
Pricing is going to be higher than Wegman’s in some areas, but cheaper in the bulk food area and the baking foods. They do have a discount section too for “expired” products”
The community around this store is awesome. Wish they could have a bigger store, maybe work alongside a co-op to have fresh produce in the store in the future. They always carry local eggs and onions, and sometimes some specialty items during certain seasons. But overall I come for the bulk products as my base of grains and nuts and legumes for my farmers market veggies.
Pros: Great selection, Very friendly staff, Bulk grains/nuts/seeds/chocolates
Cons: Could always be bigger :)

My Favorite Store - Edit
This is where I go for the things I can't find anywhere else; such as NadaMoo! coconut milk ice cream, my favorite vegan cream cheese, cruelty free products, and other vegan treats that even Wegman's doesn't carry. The staff is friendly and helpful, and willing to answer any questions you might have.
Read morePros: something is always on sale, new products appear frequently, they have the best vegan ice cream in the area
Cons: sometimes pricey, but it's worth it

New Location - Edit
I notice that the most recent review of Nature's Pantry is close to 2 1/2 years old. Since that time, they have relocated to a much larger location with a parking lot that is significantly easier/ more safe to pull into/ out of.
Read moreThe same owner but a different and larger staff. Many are very knowledgeable and friendly but I miss Morgan whose humor was always welcome.
Since the move to this location off of Commercial Blvd. (late March 2010), they have taken on more products and organic produce from different (not necessarily local) sources, added in workshops and more meat products in their now vast frozen and refrigerated sections.
The bulk food area in the back is nice but we aware that the prepackaged and similar items' prices may be different and have no sell by/ expiration date. Save your receipt if you want an easy return/exchange of any rancid food item.
Items that are out of stock and requested or special orders can take weeks even with regular and active suppliers that Nature's Pantry stocks.
Occasionally they will have outdated produce or other items marked for quick sale. This can be a huge bargain but be aware of the quality and sell by dates upon purchasing.
They have added to their cleaning and pet care products since the move. New and different items can sometimes be sampled in the back of the store but don't be surprised to see employees or their children eating them (and some of the self serve bulk items) as regular snacks.
Nature's Pantry brings a lot to the State College area and I am glad for them. I am not enjoying how much more difficult it is to enjoy my shopping experience with sausage samples unavoidable at the new and fancy cashier station, vendors insisting that fish oil is vegetarian or Thanksgiving with bagged but bloody turkey carcasses crammed into EVERY available refrigerator until they are picked up.
Be aware and sign up on their email list of FaceBook page to know when special discounts are being offered (Customer Appreciation Day is 20% off!) and the steep prices can be wisely tempered.
Pros: great selection, open aisles
Cons: more meat than ever, pricey

Great Store - Edit
For being a small place, Nature's Pantry has a lot of stuff. There are several items that they carry and Wegman's does not, and the people who work their are very friendly. It is expensive though, so I just go there to stock up from time to time.

Good selection, high prices - Edit
Nature's Pantry has a good selection of vegan, healthy and foreign packaged foods, including egg replacers and vitamins and cruelty-free cosmetics and soaps. It also has a good selection of eco-friendly cleaning products. Their prices are high, though.

Excellent - Edit
Nature's Pantry is a great health food store. Though on the smaller scale, it carries a wide variety of products, both shelf & perishable items. If you are looking for something they don't carry, they will gladly check to see if they can get it in for you.
