AK's best veg store option, good salad bar - Edit
Good natural food store for the area (nearly the only one), though it is not open on Sunday. Salad bar has vegan options and there is a large area to sit that also has an espresso bar.

Stocked Up!! - Edit
This was the perfect stop to stock up on groceries before we headed south to Kenai. They had some prepackaged deli stuff and all of my favorite vegan snacks!

More vegan options than I had expected - Edit
This place has more vegan options than my local whole foods in New England. I’m glad I found this store while traveling. I’ll be making a few stops here during my stay.

Salad bar is still closed! - Edit
Great grocery store with lots of vegan products / groceries. Closed on Sundays and early evening (7pm) so make sure you get there early. I used to love their salad bar but it's still closed supposedly due to covid. (Sept 2021.) Very few prepared foods for take-away. No sandwiches or quick meals. Definitely just grocery items to take home. They do have plastic containers with salad contents, but they're all the same and all of them have meat and dairy. Would give 4 stars if they had re-opened the salad bar by now, and if they had more prepared foods like sandwiches, etc.

Cons: Closed on Sundays and closed by 7pm other days, Almost no prepared foods to eat on the spot , Packaged salads contain meat and dairy

Buffet/lunch bar - Edit
I love their buffet bar they serve but almost half the buffet is not vegan (tons of it contains honey, which is so unnecessary). I tend to stick to the salad side and the soups.

Only game in town - Edit
Good selection but expensive, which is to be expected. Stock up in the lower 48 before you come to Alaska. We came here mostly for the salad bar, which was pretty good with decent vegan options. Stick with lunch though — they don't seem to replenish after lunch hours. We came here one evening wanting to grab something quick, but almost every tray was empty. Most people seem to also just come for lunch. Outside of those hours, the entire store is empty, quiet, and frankly pretty dead. The glum faces on the staff certainly didn't help. And what grocery store closes on Sundays??

Best option in Alaska for high end groceries - Edit
They also have a food bar with a few vegan and GF options. Juice and smoothies can be found to the right of the entrance, where the tables are.

Vegan salad bar oasis - Edit
Although not perfect, the Natural Pantry offers a great salad bar option for the area. A filling meal is expensive, and groceries are commensurate with the area. For a special splurge I like to load up at the salad bar and eat to my heart's content, though it's quite pricey to do that. The store offers a good selection of vegan products, though the deli selection is lacking for vegans. I love that the store is locally owned, as opposed to a big national chain offering similar options. Quinoa salad and brown rice were offered at the salad bar last time I was there, and a marinated tofu and lots of vegetables were available. The vegan soup was a bean tortilla soup, which didn't appeal to me on the day I was there. but people said it was good.

Mediocre Store - Edit
I do not expect a lot from Alaska, because it really just is so out of sync with the rest of the world.
Read moreIf you are looking for your favorite items from down in the lower 48, you might find a few here.
It is extremely expensive, but that is to be expected. Normal food prices in Alaska are astronomical, so to shop at a specialty store will set you back some serious cash.
It is an all right store. I like that they are trying to bring this lifestyle to Alaska.
It certainly is better than nothing at all.
