Vegan Indian Buffet for 1500 Y (including dessert and drinks) - Edit
Never dissapoints! This was our fav place during 2020-2022 due to not forcing masks on us and no discrimination on unmasked people - this place has never dissapointed us and food buffet always gets better.
Read moreThis Indian vegetarian restaurant has a vegan friendly buffet - all you can eat for 1280 yen (including tax) every day with a variety of dishes. Buffet is available to order until 15:00, but regular menu (including cake menu with around three vegan cakes) is also available at all times.
Buffet includes salad, turmeric and white rice, vegan nan and around 3-4 vegan curries. When we went, all curries were vegan. Curries vary in taste and texture, so this is a nice way to try out different traditional Indian curries. My favorite is the one with vegan TVP chunks.
Drinks such as water, mint tea and coffee are also included in the buffet price and vegan sugar and soy milk is provided for drinks.
The displayed desserts are not vegan, but you can ask for a veganized version that will come to your table. The notice for this is clearly displayed by dessert corner. All items are clearly labelled and staff is very kind.
There is another Milan Nataraj restaurant located in Shibuya, but the Harajuku location is bigger, brighter and has a nicer atmosphere. We really enjoyed the warmth of the place and the music being played in the background.

Good price, but not on par with other Indian food - Edit
I loved that this place had a lunch buffet and vegan naan, but the curries lacked much taste. Price was great, but quality was a bit lacking. Among the least tasty Indian I've had honestly, but it was still good, because Indian is always good.

Wonderful Indian Buffet - Edit
I dined here for lunch on January 17th, 2024 and enjoyed the most wonderful Indian buffet. Three out of the four Curries at the buffet were vegan and they had a very delicious vegan naan. There's turmeric rice made with short grain rice instead of the traditional basmati. Refreshing salad started the meal and coffee and mint tea ended it. Prices were extremely reasonable and I would definitely eat here again.

Vegan Naan!? Say No More - Edit
VEGAN NAAN. 'Nuff said.
Read moreIndian food in Japan is on a whole different level especially when it comes to the large portions of naan you receive. I haven't seen vegan naan offered anywhere in the States so to see it here at Nataraj, I was immediately sold.
The Harajuku location is one of three and offers the best views. We sat by the window and was able to look down from the high floor to the bustling cityscape.
We went with their lunch buffet (weekdays are ¥1290) which included four different curries, naan, rice, salad, achar, and dessert. On the day we went, all four curries were vegan friendly and everything was clearly marked. They even had vegan salad dressings along with a vegan dessert option using soy milk. I was very impressed with how affordable and vegan friendly the buffet ended up being.
I definitely snagged my fair share of vegan naan which was green in color to distinguish it from the butter naan. I was so happy and full from the 90 minute lunch buffet, and would happily return in the future.
If you're not interested in the buffet, they have a variety of other options a la carte - many of which are vegan as well.
Pros: Vegan naan, Many items are clearly marked vegan, Excellent lunch buffet deal

Tokyo’s Original Indian Vegan - Edit
I’ve always loved Indian and knew that it could be the foundation for truly delicious and satisfying meals as I begin my Whole-Plant-Centric lifestyle. I was right! Nataraj, vegan from its founding in Ginza 1990, is superb! Chef Kahal(sp?)has perfected his menu over those 30 years.

The amazing naan and other Indian dishes - Edit
Need a break from the busy streets of Harajuku? Come here to enjoy a comforting meal while looking out over the city. It is wonderful to sip a vegan mango lassi while watching the city lights with friends. I highly recommend the naan, as they come so big they're falling off the plate, and look stunning. This place is a little expensive, but still worth it if you're in the mood for Indian food. They have a dedicated vegan menu, which makes ordering easy.

Great Modern Atmosphere - Edit
lunch menu with one curry, a salad and rice or naan (or Half a portion of rice with half a naan, is also possible for the same price) around 1000円 very filling.
Read moreThe soy meat curry was really delicious, chana masala was a bit too mild, not a deep herbal taste, like I’m used to. The naan was great, though! Fantastic lunch buffet and a view - Edit
My 2nd favourite food experience during my trip to Japan. Their vegan naan is spot on, cannot go wrong at this joint! Curries were really scrumptious. Authentic vibe as the staff were dressed in Indian garments and had Bollywood music playing on the speakers. Felt like being at an Indian restaurant back home in the UK. Would highly recommend for anyone who is a vegetarian/vegan but also a lover of Indian food!

Good Indian-Japanese cuisine - Edit
Nataraj provides a wide selection of Indian-Japanese vegetarian cuisine, with many vegan options clearly labeled. They even have a whole separate vegan menu (though I personally didn’t find it needed with the designations they had in their main menu.)
Read moreThe location can be a bit easy to miss if you’re purely looking at google maps, as it’s on the 8th floor of a relatively small complex not far from the Meiji-Harajuku station. Look for the floor guide near the exterior of the building on the ground floor and you’ll see their name.
Once on the 8th floor, you’ll see they have a very generously-sized space available. We came around 7pm on a Saturday night, and while they asked if we had a reservation, it wasn’t a problem to sit us as they had a few tables available.
One of the cool features they have for their ordering system is what looks like an old school mouse, where you click it when you are ready to order. After we ordered, the food took a decent amount of time to come out, but once it started it was all reasonably timed.
I had a Japanese-style curry, while my partner went with a more traditional North Indian curry. Of the two, I felt the Indian curry was better spiced, though the Japanese-style curry was good nonetheless. We got them both as sets. There are a few options for sets, where you can do a more traditional Indian-style one with either rice or naan, or a macrobiotic version. The Indian-style one has a variety of naan options you can opt for, but note the vegan naan options increase the price of the set. The macrobiotic set is all vegan.
Generally, I found the food to be a bit over-priced, but that can happen with dinners in Tokyo (lunches are always much better deals). We ended up paying about $70 usd for the two curry sets, an app, a beer, and a chai latte. A good amount of food, of course, but over-priced for my overall impression.
Still, it’s great to have a huge menu of vegetarian and vegan curries to choose from, and nice they have several other locations in Tokyo.
Pros: Many clearly labeled vegan options
Cons: A bit expensive, Vegan options in set increase price

Very nice food - Edit
We really liked the food here, it was Indian but with a Japanese twist. Also, they have non spicy options which we think is good (for example, a pumpkin dish). The sesame nan was very good but maybe a bit oily. We liked all the plates we ordered, for two people we ordered 2 curries, one rice and one nan, and it was enough.
Read moreThe place looks very good, with a nice view and nice decoration. The staff was good enough. We went at night in a weekday and there was no option of buffet, not sure when they have it.
Pros: Great flavours, nice ambience and view
