Amazing cakes - Edit
We didn’t try the main meals here but stopped off for cake twice during our short trip. Stunning cakes, probably the best vegan cakes I have ever had, great selection and very nicely decorated, great for a treat!

Upscale and tasty - Edit
This is the most formal of the restaurants that we tried. That’s not to say that it’s prohibitive just that many of the other places are much less.
Read moreHere you have the table cloths. And waiters. And water glasses.
All good.
Food was varied and tasty.
We even went back a second time for just a cake.
Definitely recommend

Absolutely nice! - Edit
We had something, I would describe as a mix platter and a pizza and both was really good and priced fairly. Also, I got a scone and these vegan cheese snacks from their bakery and I can only recommend to do that as well.

Elegant and comfortable - Edit
Such a beautiful restaurant. An electic meny, it was difficult to choose. I ordered a seitan steak with fried potatoes and onions. The seitan was so juicy, and the dish was good overall. Ended the stay with an ice cream from the deli at the counter. Everyone should visit here!

Great traditional Hungarian dishes - Edit
I visited Napfényes a number of times during my trip to Budapest, and tried a few things: the seitan roast, bean goulash, and vegan cheesecake.
Read moreFirst of all, I want to declare that vegan cheesecake a MUST TRY. I’ve had my fair share of veganized cheesecakes, this definitely takes the top prize. It’s light, citrusy, super cheesy, not too soft, not too sweet, just perfect.
I’d strongly recommend the seitan roast as a more Hungarian, filling, and protein-rich dinner. It was super flavorful, though the potatoes could’ve had a bit more crisp.
The goulash was ok. There are better ones in Budapest, but I wanted a light dinner and it did the job.

Fine Dining - Edit
Fine dining experience with interesting vegan food like tofu cheese, vegan cheese (deep fried), vegan meat (grilled) all tasted amazing though a bit pricy. I had the “plater for one”.

delicious dinner - Edit
the food here was really good. 3/4 of our party got pizzas, including a few non-vegans who still enjoyed the food. the pizza didnt have too much cheese on which i always think is a good thing. 1/4 of our party got the goulash soup (which we all tried) which was really nice. they don't serve any alcohol here which was probably a good thing after our bottomless river cruise ha!

A restaurant with a story - Edit
What else could I say here without repeating of what so many have already said? You come in, there’s a friendly smiling waiter waiting to find the best place for you, and when you open the menu, you’re greeted with a short three-paragraph story which sets the bar really high, and then everything you experience reaches these high standards. The food was LOVELY: fun, delicious, filling, interesting, originally presented. The staff was very professional, yet kind and welcoming. For example, I came in my ugly sports clothes, because I came straight from a climbing gym, and even though I stood out from all the Sunday bests, I was treated with exactly the same attitude and body language as everybody else. Somehow they manage to uphold a high standard of quality service without making it feel supercilious. Oh, by the way, it’s cheap! (when compared to how much such experience would cost in other countries)

Excellent find - Edit
This highly rated restaurant did not disappoint. It is a 10-15 minute walk from St. Stephen’s Basilica. We were able to get a table even though it was very crowded. Reservations are probably a good idea. We had fried cheese and the stuffed cabbage plate. Both were excellent. Portions are huge! Service was friendly and prompt.

Good service, not so good dish - Edit
Service was excellent and very friendly. I ordered a ginger lemonade which didn’t taste much like ginger or lemon. For lunch I had a stuffed cabbage dish served with seitan, a vegan wiener and a mountain of sauerkraut. Texturally and seasoning-wise, the entire dish didn’t feel very diverse. I was surprised that the dish I had wasn’t better because the restaurant had such good reviews, but maybe I should’ve tried something else.
