Soup for the soul

I had a hard time getting inside because the queueing system happened over WeChat, and I didn't have wifi. However, the staff at the other restaurant were kind to grant me access to the wifi, so I eventually got in. The restaurant was very popular, so I was sat at a table with a random family. I ordered a noodle soup that was amazing. It was worth the wait and the price in my opinion.

Pros: Noodle soup, I could pay with cash, Aircondition

Cons: Queueing system

Good for a simple meal or snack while at the temple

Nanputuo Noodle House is the smaller of the two veg restaurants inside the Xiamen Nanputuo Temple complex (entry to which is free of charge). The two restaurants are essentially next-door to each other, and this one (the Noodle House) is the one to the west, which you can identify by the photo of the shopfront (which is the main photo for this listing), or by the name on the sign out front (which as of Jan 2024 is in Chinese only): 南普陀素面馆.

The menu is in Chinese only, and is spread across numerous illuminated panels above the windows of the dining room (which include photos of the dishes), and is also available on your mobile device (accessible via WeChat QR, if you're into that).

The main focus here, as the name implies, is noodle dishes, of which they serve a variety. There are also several small dishes to serve as sides or appetizers, which are good options if all you want is a snack. Note that there's a greater variety available at the Nanputuo Temple Vegetarian Restaurant (南普陀寺素食馆) next-door, just a few steps to the east, which offers a buffet.

As far as we could tell, everything here seems to be plant-based, but if anyone discovers egg or dairy here please update HappyCow.
