Doesn't know what vegan means - Edit

We went here because it was listed on HappyCow as "vegan options", when we got there we asked if anything was vegan, they said "EVERYTHING is vegan" on closer inspection of the menu, we figured it probably wasn't. My partner who eats meat ordered a chicken tikka or something. The guy asked if he wanted it made vegan. I then assumed that they would probably replace it with tofu or seitan or something (which has happened in other restaurants I have been to) so I ordered a butter chicken made vegan. When it came out, it absolutely was real chicken. I said to the waiter that the chicken looks real, and he said "thank you". My partner then had to almost force the question, "is this real chicken?" to which the waiter was then shocked and said, "you wanted no chicken? I thought you wanted no milk." he then went onto say that he had made things like this for other vegans and they had loved it. He just thought vegan meant no milk but it was ok to eat meat. This was all while I sat underneath a "vegetarians award" on the wall. They did replace the food with something that I hope was vegan (at least the chicken was gone) but no discount was given or anything due to their mistake. Rather a long way down from "everything is vegan". I hope they have since learned what vegan is. I'm just thankful I didn't order something that could easily be disguised as something non vegan like beef mince. So, beware.

Pros: They replaced my order quickly when it was wrong, Food might have been great if it was right

Cons: They don't know what vegan is, REALLY uninformed staff, Not apologetic enough when my food has meat in it

Very good Indian restaurant - Edit

The food is very good and freshly made. A lot of vegan options. I love the chickpea curry! And the stuff is very friendly as well. It's also pretty cheap :)
