AWESOME PLACE! - Edit
Everything is 100% Vegan here and the shop is all that and more. Very cozy with a warm homey vibe. The staff was wonderful. I got the potato/leek soup as a starter. It was rich and creamy. Everything I was hoping for. My main dish was spicy lentil stew and it was delicious. Great place in general.

Good, unfussy, yet imaginative food. The seitan was a bit limp. Next time I'll ask them to cook it well done.

Small dishes. The sides are served in SAUCE dishes. Really not impressive given their price point. All of these reviews are clearly from people that don't eat vegan regularly.

Montclair's Vegan Charm - Edit
Best Vegan place in NJ. It's a bit pricey, but everything on the menu is truly worth it. The place is charming, and fits in with the environment in Montclair. The place is almost 100% organic, and they receive local produce as much as it's available.
Read moreI went there for my birthday dinner a while ago, and was able to try their Lasagna, Massitas, and BBQ Seitan. Delicious? I'd go with OF COURSE. The Massitas were by the far the main attraction of the entire meal. For dessert, we ordered the lemon quesadilla-and yes it was beautiful. Their brownies are also a great snack to take on the go if you can't stop in for an entire meal.
Pros: Organic, Local
Cons: Pricey

Amazing but Pricey! - Edit
This restaurant is adorable and the food was amazing, but the prices were a bit ridiculous. I ordered the cheapest thing on the menu which was a BBQ sandwich and it was so great, but I just wish the prices were a bit more reasonable. I would go back but definitely when I have some extra money to spend!

This place it's ok the food it's a bit salty and way too pricey I wouldn't recommend. I can make better food than them not to offend but the food is lacking in my opinion for the price.

Almost perfect! - Edit
Cute place, amazing location, great service and very tasty food. I had the curry corn chowder, BBQ seitan roll w/coleslaw and the lemon quesadilla. It was all really good but didn't blow my mind. I would have liked the corn Chowder to have a lot more corn in it, it had very little. The BBQ roll was good but it was on what seemed to be a regular hot dog bun which got soggy a minute after I was given the sandwich. Otherwise the taste was great. The lemon quesadilla was more like a lemon flavored cake and it was amazing. Overall all I had a great experience and good lemonade so there were just small things I had issues with.

Awesome Place, Friendly Service. Pricey - Edit
I had the lasagne which was really good. The veggies that came with it were perfect and I loved the plate presentation. The service was great. My boyfriend ordered massitas (I think) and it was the perfect dish for "meat lovers" better than chicken. Obviously. The chef came out to talk to us and ask us if we wanted any sauce and told us about the salt and pepper which was also organic. The server was very nice and soft spoken. All the food (and the chocolate bar) was awesome! The atmosphere was nice. But I think it would up costing 42.00 for both of our entrees and a chocolate bar. Then of course we left a tip! But I highly rev omens it if you have the cash.

Will definitely be back! - Edit
I brought my non-vegan and Hispanic parents and friend for dinner and left pleasantly surprised about their reaction. They can be very hard to please when it comes to food but they left raving about their entrees (Lasagna, Black Eyes Peas Stews and Pernil). At first my dad was unsure about what to order and our waitress even brought him a sample of a dish. We were stuffed by the end of our meal but we all managed to share a local blueberry and peach pie with coconut ice cream which was absolutely delicious. To top it off, the atmosphere was perfect as we sat outside and enjoyed the live music being played down the street.

Delightful! - Edit
At the end of May, I, my wife, her brother, and his wife capped off a 2-week road trip through Canada and New England with a wonderful meal at Mundo Vegan. Portions were generous, service was superb, and the apple pie and ice cream were to live for! We enjoyed chatting with Fanny & Tracey, the energetic owners who brought this fabulous eatery to life and had the courage to include "vegan" in the name! Encouragingly, omnivores are among their best customers, proving that if the food is wholesome and delicious, diners of all stripes will keep coming back.

Fresh, friendly and vegan--the big three! - Edit
Mundo Vegan has a spacious and bright dining room with an open kitchen, and, my friends say, lovely outdoor seating in warm weather. The menu is eclectic and Latin -influenced, including empanada appetizers, veg tamales and lemon quesadilla cake. I had veg lasagna, with sides of kale and avocado. It was a delicious , generous serving. I saw an array of luscious baked goods displayed on the kitchen counter, but will have to come back for those! The service was congenial and quick and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming . Mundo Vegan is located on a small street, Church St, that intersects with the main drag, Bloomfield Avenue, alongside other interesting cafés and restaurants. It's certainly worth a trip and is easy to find.

One of our favorites in Montclair! - Edit
The staff and the food are amazing. I like how the menu is constantly changing up, but still keeps the best ones. It is hard to get my wife to order anything besides the lasagna, while I like to jump around a bit more and try new things. I am not really sure what the reviewers that gave this place a low rating were thinking as my experience with the flavor of the food could not be more opposite. Perhaps the food has just gotten better since they posted their reviews, because we have never been disappointed.

Has some of the best vegan food I have ever tasted! Great service. The staff was super friendly. I would recommend the mushrooms, cashew cheese platter, and the tamales. It all had such great flavor and really mixed well together. I especially liked that the food was all gluten free, non-gmo, and organic!!!! And after the meal you are treated the the friendliest chef coming out and asking you how your meal was and explaining why their gluten free non- gmo and organic. I will totally be coming back here again soon

One vegan and three omnivores in the group and we all loved everything. The lasagna was great with no clue that it's gluten free. The César salad was great too. Really everything was great. Wonderful coffee! My experience says that anyone complaining is either being paid to or has no idea what food is supposed to taste like. Montclair is lucky to have Mundo Vegan. Go, enjoy and see for yourself.

Not being paid to make any sort of review. After 19 years of veganism I think I know how food should taste, though, it's really subjective. If you don't like someone's opinion there's no need to make accusations.

ugh, u really felt responding was necessary?! well, now that I see you rated Jerusalem Pizza *** I'll stand by my comment of not knowing what good food is. Mundo Vegan is a much better restaurant than Jerusalem Pizza especially if ur interested in vegan food. peace brother!

You're comparing apples and oranges here. Jerusalem Pizza is a $4 meal and is judged as such. If I'm paying $17 - $19 for a meal it will obviously be held to a different standard. Common sense, my friend.

I always check customer reviews before reserving a hotel room, trying a new restaurant, etc, and then have to discount the negative evaluations , ie. too pricey, too starchy or bland , got a rash that might be bites from bedbugs, and so on. Obviously, when you're dealing with the general public, you're encountering pre-conceived ideas (ie. prices at 1970s level, phobias & fears)and have to sort through the noise.

Needs Some Work.. - Edit
I'll start with the pros. The place is well decorated and the servers are extremely nice and prompt.
Read moreNow to the cons. The food is extremely tasteless and a little confusing. We ordered two entrees, one of them was lasagna ($17). It came with a side of rice and beans as well as a side of steamed cauliflower. It seemed like a very strange move to put two carb heavy items on one plate like that. The lasagna was ok, but the sides were extremely tasteless. There no spices at all.
The other entree was some of the 'beyond meat' product seasoned and served with steamed kale as well as rice and beans. This plate was ok, but I feel even the most amateur cook would have no problem replicating this dish at home.
I left pretty disappointed in the food.

Superb Vegan! - Edit
This new Vegan restaurant is outstanding! I went there shortly after it opened, and found the service friendly, prompt, and efficient, and the food to be superb! I had a soup that was thick with tasty vegetables, and potatoes that could have been a meal in itself. I believe they call it "Southern Comfort." I also had the Ropa Vieja, which is a seitan based dish. Seitan, I have found, can be tasteless or "greasy," but this dish was GREAT! The rice and beans, while often times of little flavor was here most savory. Again, I could have made a meal just of this. There was also a vegetable dish based on kale, which was again fabulous! Desert was also wonderful! I should also mention that the restaurant was packed, and judging from the empty plates and smiling faces everyone seemed to be enjoying their selves! Bring a non vegan and they'll come away a convert! This place is a true find!
