A Solid Cafe on West Side GR - Edit
As far as cafe options on the West Side, there are not a huge amount. But Morning Ritual fills that hole nicest for locals.
Read moreMorning Ritual is a two story cafe with a pastry case full of local baked goods, including local vegan favorites Sweet Batches and Rise. They are consistent with their vegan options, as well. Every time I have visited they have had vegan options, which is more regular than some other cafes in the area.
And, of course, they have the standard alternative milks with which to craft your drink.
If it is full on the ground floor, they do have an upstairs seating area, which is where I gravitate towards. It is usually more quiet (being away from the espresso machine) and secluded in order to have a place to work on your laptop and sip a cup of Joe.
They has been a few times that the cafe has closed early while I visited because the space was rented out for an event. So just be aware that that can happen.
Morning Ritual is a great space to get a pastry, drink a fancy coffee drink, and sink into the morning.
Pros: Some Vegan Pasteries and Drinks, Friendly staff, Chill atmosphere with upstairs seating
Cons: Not entirely Vegan, Space Can Close for Events

Amazing atmosphere and options - Edit
I am surprised this place doesn’t have more love on here! A darling coffee shop that was quiet and homey on a Saturday morning. Pretty much all of their drinks can be made vegan. They also have bagels with vegan cream cheese and packaged vegan baked goods from local small businesses. The staff was very friendly and helpful in letting us know what was and was not vegan. The atmosphere was beautiful and accepting. We got the blueberry and everything bagel with vegan cream cheese and the brownie and sugar cookie sandwich (made by Sweet Batches) for food. To drink I got the rose quartz tea latte, which tasted like fruity pebbles and was almost too pretty to drink! Would definitely come here again!

I go here all the time, it’s quickly become my go to coffee shop in Grand Rapids. Staff is super friendly, drinks taste great especially the specials that change very often, and it’s a good spot for a morning bagel (with vegan cream cheez) or a midday treat
