Food is good! - Edit

I give them 3 stars because of not marking vegan options but the food was excellent!
They offer a few vegetable dishes that can be prepared vegan. I got the cashew nut tofu veggies with rice and a veggie spring roll and it was quick to come out and so delicious! The sauce was lovely and the portion size good.
The restaurant itself is okay, nothing too fancy and I do have one complaint, they had rodent glue traps sitting on the floor next to the table and ethically that disgusts me and hygienically also disgust me.
The food was really good though.

Very disappointed - Edit

I had heard good things about this place and I called ahead to make sure they had vegan options. Whoever I spoke to on the phone was very helpful and sounded knowledgeable about vegan items. So, I chose Modern Orchid for lunch with a group.

Modern Orchid was extremely disappointing and I regret taking others there. Our server seemed to have no idea what veganism is, even after I explained that I didn't eat any animal products. As it isn't marked on the menu, I asked if the vegetable dish I was most interested in was vegan. My server said yes. I asked if it contained fish sauce or shrimp paste. Again, he said yes! When we finally seemed on the same page about not wanting any animal products in my dish, I asked about getting plain rice noodles with the veggies since as listed on the menu, it was just vegetables in sauce. He said I could not have a serving of just rice noodles. I could only have a serving of plain rice. Similarly, another member in my party tried to order just pad Thai without the whole combo and was also told no, she could not order that. It was a very frustrating experience. The food that finally did arrive was overly salty and not very satisfying.

I would not recommend Modern Orchid unless you want to be frustrated and unsure if there might be some fish sauce hiding in your veggies.
