Great Food, Service & Live Music! - Edit
Exceeded our expectations! We shared Gumbo, shroom and grits, and crunchy boudin rolls. Fresh, seasoned to perfection and pleasing to the palate!!! Compliments to the chef and staff! The band was as electrifying as our plates!!!

Love this place! - Edit
Whenever we come to Houston, we like to try new vegan places. But, we always come back to this one. Everything is always so wonderful, cool ambience, and great service. The MBB combo is always so good. Looks like a simple combo. But every item on the plate was put thoughtfully there. The sausage is house made, the grits are tasty and garlicky, your choice of tofu scramble or hash--can't go wrong, and even the toast is perfect with the elderberry jam. The breakfast quesadilla was filing, tasty and gooey. Their house hot sauces are so good we bought a couple to take home.

Comfort food - Edit
We went for lunch and tried the boudain sushi rolls as an appetizer. We were blown away by how delicious and creative they were. We also ordered the breakfast plate and a bowl of mushroom gumbo. Food was pricey ($20 for a bowl of gumbo) but worth it for a splurge. Also if you're sensitive to spice, ask the server in advance about what you're thinking of ordering. I was surprised that both the grits and the breakfast sausage were pretty spicy.

Best vegan pancakes ever - Edit
We eat here a LOT and love everything. Had to peach cobbler pancakes this week with sides of sausage and JUST Egg. Fluffy huge pancakes. They have peach cobbler, strawberry and cream, and pecan pie pancakes OR waffles. We have always had excellent service and are there about once a week. Love having a place we can get breakfast at 8 am. Too many vegan places here say they have breakfast but they don’t open before 10.

Lunch so good we went back that night for dessert - Edit
In town for a conference at the nearby medical center. Very easy to get here on the metro. We had the sweet potato hash (kale, quinoa, black beans), side of chik’n fried shrooms, and a bowl of Gumbo. The gumbo was the star. Amazing. Returned that night for dessert: donut stuffed with ice cream. Wanted to try everything on the menu and will have to come back!!

So many options! My girls (not vegan btw) and I went for my bday and got their flights to share/try. They brought me a strawberry pancake stack for my bday. Seasoned to perfection.

NOT to be missed - Edit
We tried this WONDERFUL restaurant while in town for Taylor Swift, and it was incredible. We tried everything we could fit in; the pancake flight, breakfast tacos, sushi, crispy potatoes, artichoke dip, crispy chik’n-like mushrooms with waffles…my description simply can’t do it justice. Everything was flavorful, seasoned, indulgent. It’s expensive, but it has every right to be, this brunch was an OCCASION in its own right. The chai was perfectly spicy and house-made, the service was great, and this place was hopping on a rainy Sunday. Mo Better is END GAME. FIRST-STRING. A-TEAM. I hope I have literally any reason to come through HTX so I can get back.

Went for brunch. Favorites: the buffalo chicken dip, naked Brussels, buffalo cauliflower, chicken and grits flight. The donut burger and vegan monte Cristo were good but both a bit too sweet for us. So much food, took lots home.

Cool vibe, great food. And they don’t rely on fake meat. I had the chicken fried oyster mushrooms and waffles, and as always the buffalo cauliflower. I also got the almond butter croissant for later but I can’t comment on that yet. I’m very full and happy!

Took forever and the food wasn’t worth the wait - Edit
I hate to give this review because I had been looking forward to going to this place for months leading up to my Houston trip. Food took over an hour to get to us and so we were out of water almost that whole time. I got the kale salad (not good, almost no dressing and way way too much of the bacon) and potato soup (they were out and told me about 30 min after ordering), so I got gumbo - which was delicious. My husband got the breakfast plate and it was sold and grits were all sticky together from sitting under a heat lamp for who knows how long. Unfortunately just not good food or experience.

I’d recommend this place for both vegan and non-vegans. The ambiance is beautiful and clean, the service is friendly and the food is delicious. I have brought non-vegan friends here and they’ve been quite satisfied.

Fun & Yum! - Edit
We stopped here on our way to Austin and so glad we found this place, we had been trying to track down the Houston Sauce Co food truck and this place is same owners. Everyone was so friendly and the vibe was really great. We ordered grits flight and the Viet-Nacho with minced oyster mushrooms and enjoyed both, the nachos were HUGE way more than 2 people could eat so be warned! It is a huge sheet of nachos. Our favorite thing we had was the grits and chikn' fried shrooms with trill sauce. Had the Purple Rain cocktail and a beer, sat outside and enjoyed the music until close.
