BEST OKINAWA EXPERIENCE

I loved this little place!

I speak some Japanese, and the owners explained the menu to me, and were very accommodating with my diet. I got the miso soup with the dessert and matcha after. It was beyond tasty - everything was delicious and I would love the opportunity to come back! The best part though was getting to talk with and getting to know the owners who were so sweet. We even exchanged numbers!

Pros: Great tasting food, Accommodating , Real experience

Vegan dorayaki

Read more in this vegan Okinawa guide: https://itravelforveganfood.com/vegan-okinawa-guide/

This Japanese teahouse have some traditional desserts that are vegan. The vegan dorayaki and sweet red bean rice ball are both pleasant surprises to find.

Staff speaks some English and the menu is in Japanese. If you plan to visit, the two dessert sets on this page are vegan. The one on the left is a dorayaki (どらやき), rice ball (おはぎ) and drink set. The one on the right is a set with 2 rice balls. For rice ball, you can choose sweet red bean (あんこ), sesame (ごま) or soybean powder (きなこ).

Pros: Hard to find vegan traditional desserts, Local vibes

A Special Gem!

This tea house was a highlight of my recent trip of Okinawa. Traditional in aesthetic and food style, it's run by a wonderfully gentle and kind Japanese couple. Their menu is about half non-vegan, half vegan, having recently made efforts to become more vegan-friendly. The sesame noodles, udon, okonomiyaki, and matcha latte can all be made vegan upon request, and all of the sweets are entirely vegan. They have free wifi if you ask, and the environment is relaxing and family-friendly.

Pros: Incredible food, Relaxing atmosphere, Kind owners
