Tasty

Super tasty, all the vegetarian dishes are vegan and gluten free*, and the sambussa are vegan but not gluten free. The portion size of the main dishes was on the smaller side, but considering typical Iceland food prices it was ok. The sambussa were tasty but only two small pieces, so not really worth it.

*Edit: The celiac person in our group had issues after we came home from the restaurant, not sure from what, but I thought I'd update.

I’m a regular even tho I live in the capital city. If I’m going to the south I’ll be at this place for dinner for sure!

Charming

Stopped here after visiting the Secret Lagoon and loved the experience.

The restaurant was charming and inviting with its multitude of decorations. The staff was extremely kind and pleasant (albeit slow). You could tell how proud they are of their food.

We started with the yemisir sambusa and got two vegetarian combinations. While it wasn't the best Ethiopian food I've had, it was still really delicious and satisfying. Although some things felt like they didn't belong and were a bit random (like salad and cold unheated rice).

The portions of sambusa were so tiny (for the price) that I was a little taken aback, but they were still good.

Pros: Vegan options, Friendly staff

Lovely Ethiopian dinner

Welcoming atmosphere and very nice food made from scratch. Once entering in the restaurant, a very pleasant smell of spices will dance with your nostrils, stimulating your appetite! The menu offers a range of traditional dishes and, among those, also four vegan options (they figure under the label "vegetarian" in the menu, but they are 100% vegan!). The food was tasty and not excessively spicy, balanced. I would recommend to eat it with your hands (as this food would be traditionally eaten), it makes the experience even more exciting.
Will for sure come back! #Veganuary

Pros: Four vegan options and one veg appetizer, Traditional Ethiopian food from scratch , Fair price

Delicious food but very slow

There are four vegetarian options, all vegan. The food is DELICIOUS but it took forever to arrive at our table... worth waiting for if you are not in a hurry or urgently hungry.

Pros: Delicious, 4 veg options

Cons: Slooowww

superb!!

I was skeptic at first, never had Ethiopian, but this was just awesome!! All 4 vegetarian courses on the menu are vegan, the service was great, very familiar feeling! I would highly recommend this one, and will definitely try Ethiopian again.. it’s like Indian but different for those who are skeptical!

LOVE this place

Found this place via the HappyCow app when I was in Iceland last. It's located in a very, very small town. Has several vegetarian items that the owner assured me contained no animal products. I got the number 22 and it was AMAZING. Went back the next day and got it again. The hours aren't listed online, but see photo of hours posted on the door. I HIGHLY recommend this place if you find yourself within an hour of this location.
