Don’t hesitate! - Edit
Awesome vegan taiwanese food! Portions were big enough and the flavor and quality was great. You get good value for what you pay. We spent about 4000 JPY / 30 USD and got two main dishes, two dessert-beverages, one large appetizer and one dessert.
Read moreThe dessert beverage had mango juice, mango pieces, basil sorbet, sago pearls and soy whipped cream. That alone was like a whole meal lol. The vegan pork rice and the mapo tofu were flavorful and very filling. We also had 5 yummy dumplings. For dessert we had vegan tofu pudding with a delicious caramel sauce (like filipino taho!)
The seating is like in a cafe. It is self-service. The music on a Saturday night was such a good vibe too. I recommend it!

Nice food nice experience! Please visit this places. How's said vegan food in Tokio is boring? The drink menu is Alone is 8 stars! Some food didn't had the deep flavour as expected.

Delicious All Vegan Taiwanese Food - Edit
We had been planning on stopping by Ming-Teng Hao Hao for quite some time and finally we made it happen.
Read moreWe had a quick dinner of Vegan Mapo Tofu Rice and Soupless Noodle, as well as Pineapple Cake. The food was really delicious, but a bit too oily for my personal liking and the amount was a bit small. The pineapple cake was actually two pineapple cookies. They were really good - tasted like butter cookies topped with pineapple jam.
I am curious to try their sweet dishes as well some time soon.

Interesting experience! - Edit
Really liked the food and it was nicely presented. I would love to come back to try more stuff from the menu. I had the vegan minced pork rice dish which was very filling, and the vegan dumplings. Seems like half of the menu is a sweet menu, and the other half savory. Pretty packed on the weekends, so I would like to come back on a week day.

Taiwanese style vegan dishes - Edit
The price is a little high for what it is, but I'm grateful for the vegan option in the area. The vibe is like a food court. Don't come here if you're expecting great service or a fancy restaurant but appreciative vegans may enjoy it anyway. I wish it was possible to get the cold tofu type of dessert everywhere in Japan.
Read moreThere's a sign on the door that says masks are optional and that the intention is to be inclusive. Might be a red flag but the staff were wearing masks when I went.

Optional mask is a green flag. Masks suffocate you without doing anything to prevent. Such dehumanizing practice.

Taiwan Inspired Food and Sweets - Edit
I ordered their original kakigori (shaved iced) which is a limited item for the summer months. The syrup used contained wax gourd (Chinese preserving melon) and Shan Zha, which was a great combination of sweet and sour. The peanuts and shirotama dango added another texture, which made it an interesting refreshing treat.
Read moreMingTeng Hao Hao relocated from Nakameguro to Shimokitazawa last year. This area is known for its thrift shops and pop up stores. The store is on the ground floor of Reload, an outdoor shopping mall.
The store tends to get busy around lunch time, so it's best to come early or opt for takeout. The outdoor mall has some benches in between the stores that you can use as well.
I like how MingTeng Hao Hao is making an effort to reduce waste as much as possible - you can bring your own containers and cups for take out orders. The douhua is sold by weight if you bring your own container. It seems they collect used take out bags that are being reused for next customers - might be useful if you forgot to bring your own shopper!
Pros: Both savory and sweet menu available, Store makes efforts to reduce waste, Take out possible
Cons: Crowded during lunch time
