INCREDIBLE - Edit
This is by far the best vegan food I have ever had. Anything on the menu can be made vegan and it’s so unique, the attention to detail is astounding. Fantastic cocktails and magical atmosphere too. If you need some incredible vegan food in PV that isn’t just sautéed mushrooms, support this business.

Amazing food and more - Edit
This was one of the best vegan restaurants I’ve ever been to. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and caring toward our group’s allergies. The food was some of the best vegan food I’ve had and the presentation for food and drinks was creative and visually pretty! I would definitely come back to try more.

Great food and atmosphere - Edit
The menu here is really fun, lots of modern twists on traditional Mexican food. There are tons of vegan options, and the vegan cheese that they use is great. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a more trendy, fun spot.

Fantástica comida - Edit
The entire menu had vegan versions of the dishes, which practically makes this a vegan restaurant. Every detail was so thoughtful and the vegan dishes were so flavorful that I would give this place 5 stars if I could.

Wacky drinks and a lot of options - Edit
So when I first read the menu I saw a lot of things marked vegan that I could see weren’t and got a little put off… but I was wrong. They have vegan subs for a ton of things on the menu. I got a Barbados special with Cauliflower. It was good. We also got a vegan quesadilla that was “interesting”. Finished the meal with a piece of chocolate cake that was excellent. One stop shop for wild drink presentations and vegan options

Such a great place with amazing vegan options!!! - Edit
Stopped in at Mezcal & Sal while on a Vallarta Vegan Food Tour. So happy we came upon this place. The decor and vibe inside was amazing! Loved it right when we stepped foot inside….and then the food and drinks came and we were convinced that this was a must go to place for all vegans!!
Read moreWe had a Mezcal cocktail and a hibiscus drink. The presentation was top notch. The Mezcal was a smokey one which I didn’t really care for but the hibiscus drink was excellent. The taco we had was amazing!!! One of the best I have tried since arriving in January.
Their menu has many vegan options from the taco we enjoyed, to cauliflower popcorn, oyster mushrooms, vegan ceviche, etc…
A cool vibe inside. Would make a nice night out.
Pros: Flavour profiles were off the chart excellent, Presentation of food , Friendly service

Excellent food and creative drinks! - Edit
We had the most amazing culinary experience here. The servers are very knowledgeable about vegan food options, of which there are multiple on the menu and indicated as vegan. The drinks are out of this world with their presentation. A must if you’re in the PV area. #Veganuary

So creative and beautiful presentation - Edit
This restaurant is a feast for the eyes (and tummy!), the presentation is seriously impressive! There has been a lot of creative thought put into everything, from the interestingly designed menu to flower petals on the serving trays. This was a perfect spot for a date night. I think everything on the menu can be made vegan. The waitress made great recommendations as well. Highly recommend for a special night out!

Not quite what was expected - Edit
I honestly expected better with all the rave reviews, but my experience was fairly mediocre. The highlight of the place is the presentation of the drinks, which is quite nice. The food is decent but expensive, and portions were a little small. Note that the taco prices are for ONE taco and not two. My partner and I each ordered tacos and we were served two tacos on one plate, leaving us confused as we thought it was two tacos per person… only to find out it was one small taco for each of us on a single plate for around 140 pesos each.
Read moreThe menu is very confusing to read… probably the worst menu I’ve ever attempted to navigate.
The restaurant’s card machine also did not work with my card despite just using it earlier that day, which created quite the hassle, but the server was kind about it and worked out a solution with us - not sure if it was because it’s an international card, but again, it was just used earlier in the day at a different restaurant.
Overall, the atmosphere and presentation were cute, but I wouldn’t hurry to return due to the issues we ran into. There are better (and fully vegan) restaurants to support in the area.
Pros: Presentation, Cute decor
Cons: Expensive, A bit pretentious, Menu is very confusing to read

An interesting experience, but not worth the effort - Edit
The presentation of all dishes was very cool, and most were quite tasty. But the place was quite pricy and the portions for some dishes was way too small. It's mostly clear what parts of the menu are vegan.
Read moreThe menu was incredibly confusing and would likely be inaccessible to people with reading issues.
A cool place to vibe, but more an experience than a restaurant.
Pros: The presentation was great., The appetizer was very tasty.
Cons: Menu was very confusing., Price was expensive and potion size was not great.

Creative food and gorgeous presentation! - Edit
This was my favorite place I ate in PV. The food was so delicious and the drinks…THE DRINKS! Each drink was housed in its own little environment, which was such a unique and special touch. The drinks are themed around mezcal, duh, and will not disappoint. My fav dish was the marinated watermelon…so unique! We went here twice while in town and will be going again.

Best al pastor tacos! Can’t miss! - Edit
The server was so sweet and nearly everything on the menu could be made vegan! Everything we tried was the most delicious food we’d had so far, ESPECIALLY the hibiscus al pastor tacos. The salsas they came with were also amazing. The presentation was also lovely and the drinks felt extra special with how they were presented. My husband and i couldn’t try everything in one go so we swore to return the next day. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the romantic zone

Wish I could give it 5 stars!! - Edit
This place is INCREDIBLE. it’s Omni so I can’t give it 5 stars but honestly some of the best vegan food I have ever ever had. It was so good we went twice. I’m still dreaming about the Jamaica Al pastor tacos 😭 the presentation here, everything, is out of this world. The drinks are so fun and each one is presented in the most amazing way. Guaranteed to bring ooohs and ahhhs. I love this place! Don’t miss if you are in PV, and it’s so close to the middle of everything.

Don't miss this when you're in Puerto Vallarta - Edit
Visited here late night - was hungry and couldn't find anything else open. Was not disappointed! We ordered the Poutine a la Mexicana, Watermelon Tiradito (watermelon marinated for 24 hours to have the taste/texture of fish), and Barbacoa style mushroom tacos. The flavors were varied and intense, and left us wanting more, but alas the kitchen was closed. DON'T MISS THIS PLACE!!

A decadent evening - on a budget! - Edit
We went there on our first night in PV with non-veg friends. The staff was very knowledgeable about vegan food & needs. The decor was simply sumptuous, and so were the furniture, plates, etc - it was all very tasteful.
Read moreAs for the food: it was DELICIOUS! It felt like a gourmet dinner, with recipes a vegan take on local recipes. The portions were on the larger side (we couldn't finish everything).
To top it all off, the cocktails were delicious and original. The place is known for its exciting cocktails menu (a lot of the items are Mezcal-based). For a little more excitement, take the 'Random cocktail' (can't remember the exact name of it) - just mention that you are vegan and they'll make sure there's no animal product added to it!
All in all: it was a decadent evening on a dime - I cannot recommend it enough. Booking is recommended, this place is popular!
Pros: Very knowledgeable about veganism, Friendly staff, Everything

One of my new favorite restaurants - Edit
This is my fourth trip to PV in the last two years and I’m beyond bummed that it took until this visit for me to find Mezcal & Sal.
Read more1. The vibe of the restaurant is phenomenal. There are thoughtful artistic touches everywhere. They even have unique glassware and plates. It looks like every single one is different. They even have a custom vintage style poster with their business name on it. My friend and I loved it so much that we asked if they had them available for purchase. The staff was wonderful and took down our number because they’re seeing if they can have it printed for us before we leave.
2. The drinks are unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I’ve been to places with boujee over the top cocktails but this is next level. I think it’s because you’re constantly surprised by their overtop presentation. The best part is that the flavor of the cocktails matches the level of the presentation. Mezcal is one of my favorite liquors so I may be a little biased but this is one of my favorite drinks I’ve ever had in PV.
3. The menu is notated detailing out their vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. Each section of the menu has a few vegan gluten free options so you have so much to pick from!
4. We had the guacamole trio and I had the chickpea chorizo tlayuda. The best way I can describe the tlayuda is it’s almost like a Mexican pizza. It’s a thin crispy corn tortilla with beans, vegan cheese, avocado, and chickpea chorizo on top. It also came with two sauces that were amazing. I was so excited about it that I forgot to take a picture before I dove in.
I’m excited to come back and try other things on their menu!
Pros: Gluten free options, Notated menu, Amazing vibe

Upscale modern restaurant with many vegan offerings - Edit
A modern, upbeat ambience with house music and an energetic vibe. The restaurant says that most items can be made vegan and they have vegan cheese and sour cream. The marinated watermelon tiradito appetizer was delicious, it had more the texture and taste of sushi than watermelon. I also had the tetelas, a little like triangular empañadas filled with beans and vegan cheese, with various toppings The restaurant is known for its creative, mezcal-based cocktails.

Cons: Few tables = a wait to be seated at busy times, A little expensive, not terribly given the quality

A beautiful concept, food & cocktail experience - Edit
Another favourite spot to visit with non-vegan friends and family. Mezcal y Sal never fails to wow! You'll visit here for the cocktails, which are always beautiful presented with a balanced flavour. Be brave with an "Incognito" cocktail where the mixologist will whip up something unique for you.
Read moreBut planning a visit based on their food menu won't disappoint either. Each section of the menu offers more than one vegan option, with alternative cheeses and jackfruit fillings offered. Mention you're vegan when ordering! Everything here is delicious, but favourites here are the Mini Lonche Bañado made with jackfruit carnitas, 3 Guacamoles, Oyster Mushroom Tacos Bahia and Jackfruit Marlin Style Tetelas... and their artisanal mole!
If there are more than two of you, it certainly helps to make a reservation at this popular spot.
Pros: Oustanding presentation, Delicious mezcal-based cocktails, Excellent range of vegan options
