Tasty and fun

I ate here for a friend's birthday party, ordering the Spin Q enchilada without cheese or sour cream. The atmosphere and food were fun; my dish was tasty and seemingly quite healthy too. I looked at the online menu before coming, and couldn't tell what was vegan or veganizable, but the in-store menu was clearer and the server was helpful too. There was an upcharge for vegan cheese, and I was happier just to eliminate cheese altogether. I wish they had more non-alcoholic beverage options beyond the standard sodas and lemonade.

Pros: large menu of veganizable dishes, helpful server, fun atmosphere

Cons: online menu unclear re vegan options, upcharge for vegan cheese, few non-alcoholic beverages

Very friendly, yummy, cool aesthetic!

Our server was very bubbly and nice, even filling up my huge camelback with water. The food was yummy and there were lots of options where you could substitute Daiya and that would make it vegan. The place was very clean and looked nice.

That pizza!

This was bar none the best vegan pizza we have had out so far. Why? Because they take the time to caramelize the onions and the jalapeños. There is so much flavor. So good! We also split fresh cut fries and they did not disappoint. The salads, veggie stromboli, burritos and veggie quesadillas all look good too, and this was yummy enough to warrant a drive out for another visit.

Pros: Vegan cheese , Staff knowledgeable about modifications , Lots of options

Cons: No dedicated vegan menu but easy to navigate

Great Beer and Guac

My favorite option here is the veggie burrito with all dairy removed and add in fresh cut fries. Their guacamole is the best in the area and they offer daiya cheese substitutes for those that like it on their pizza. I also really enjoy the bean soup with all the dairy topping removed.

It's like any place that needs substitutes and omissions to make vegan options. In that, the staff is sometimes knowledgeable and sometimes...not so much. I really wish they would offer a few specifically vegan options on the menu to make it easier for staff to understand since I know they have faithful vegan customers. An occasional vegan option on the special board would be nice as well.

Overall, the owner and staff here work hard to create a quality and fresh product. As well as, making their beers vegan for the veg heads. It's a great place to go with a mixed group of omni's and veggie's.

Pros: Vegan beer, Best guacamole

Cons: Omissions and substitutions needed

Disappointing

Was hyped to try this place out because it sounded like the staff was knowledgeable and accommodating. Ended up waiting over 40 minutes get a Stromboli, two burritos, and garlic bread on a Monday afternoon at 2:30. The garlic bread had dairy cheese on it and one burrito had sour cream.

Did my best to catch all the substitutions and repeatedly told the person taking my order that it was all vegan, but they seemed clueless today. The person taking the order seemed aggravated she had to accommodate in the first place.

Two stars because the food that was okay to eat was good, but I'll never be eating here again

Love it!

Vegan pizza and vegan beer!

We love Mexitaly. The staff is pretty knowledgable about what is vegan and the service is always good and fast. We've gotten vegan pizza and stromboli with Daiya cheese and a few of their burritos. We can't bring ourselves to try anything else, because we LOVE what we get.

You order at the counter and then grab a seat at the tables, booths or bar. It's a great environment and fun place to spend an evening. Sometimes they have live music and/or open mic nights too.

Pros: Vegan options, Daiya cheese, Vegan beer

Cons: Can get loud, Can get busy

I'd give it 5 stars if I could

We've been dining at Mexitaly for over ten years, and love to see how much it's grown while still maintaining consistently high quality and truly hand crafted feel. Despite the fact that we only get there once or twice a year, the owner remembers my family and that we are vegan. Overall, the service is great and food delicious. The 100% vegan beer selection, brewed on-site, is impressive.

Pros: freshly made from scratch , good vegan options

Cons: relatively expensive for burrito and pizza

Liked it

We had the bean burritos and they were great; however, the queso needs some work. Fun environment with interactive games.

One of my favorite local spots!

How many places in York can I get a 100% vegan craft brew on tap and pizza or a burrito with or without vegan cheese? NOT MANY but Mexitaly is that good! Even before they started serving Daiya, they were one of the most vegan-friendly places in town. Most options are off menu, but get creative! Staff tends to be knowledgeable and helpful. Ask for vegan sauce on pizza, the marinara is vegan which means the 'pasta'bilities are endless. My usual is the monster bean burrito, no sour cream, add fries inside, add guacamole, add fajita peppers n onions, and Daiya cheeze if I'm in the mood. Chimichangas can even be made vegan. When in doubt JUST ASK. Almost any vegetarian option can be easily converted to vegan.

Pros: Numerous Options, Very tasty/good value, Hot and fresh

New vegan options!

Thanks to engaging the local vegan community, Greg, the owner had added Daiya cheese as an option. They carry both the mozzarella and the cheddar so there are plenty of substitutions on both sides of the menu. If you're a vegan, tell them up front, there may be things you wouldn't think of like the cheese in the default pizza sauce (just ask for vegan sauce and they'll substitute marinara for it). I've also heard that they now have a vegan white sauce.

They also recently stopped using gelatin in their brewing process so most, if not all, of the in-house brews are vegan.

They're very open to working with you as far as substitutions go and the food is great!

Pros: Very veg-friendly, Great food, Mexican and Italian in one spot

Cons: Can get a little noisy, Frequent live music (a plus if your tastes are sim

Visited the new location with expanded menu

As a lacto-ovo, I continue to find this place to have a plethora of options that vary more than most other local establishments. Quality, service and atmosphere are satisfactory.

Pros: Options - many, Food Quality

Good, but limited

We came to MexItaly based on its listing on HC. The menu in general looked great, but vegan requires modifications for each item. We had one veggie burrito, one root veggie burrito and a cup of black bean soup. We omitted sour cream and cheese on all, and were satisfied. Also, we had a salad, which was dripping with dressing. Definitely suggest ordering dressing on the side!
