Absolutely Atrocious- Poor food and quality not worth the price. - Edit
I created an account just to write this review. We were there fairly recently ( Late Nov 2024 ), and everything was so terrible. I'll organise this into 2 sections:
Read moreFood:
The design of the ordering system is so poor. They offered set meals, which includes a main dish, side dish and a "refreshment" which was just another side dish. The wording of the menu both in English and Chinese, makes it seem like you have a choice in picking which ones you want, because it's a set meal. No. You don't get to choose what side dish or extras you want with your set meal. The staff told us that the chef will randomly decide to choose one for us. I was eating with people who had severe nut allergies. How does this system make any sense whatsoever?
Also for the refreshments, because we decided to go for a set meal anyways, the portion you get is only for 1 person, because you only order 1 set meal, even though on the menu it says 两/四个 or 2/4 pieces / portions. We chose to get only 1 set meal because we though we could have 1 piece for each of us with only 1 set, because that's what the waiter pointed out to us. That did not happen. It would have been more worth to buy the refreshment on it's own without even buying the set. Buying the set itself is not worth, but even then, if you're planning on coming here- just don't.
The food itself was also terribly oily, with the rice dishes being way too oily to finish, and the dumplings and soup just bland and tasteless for the price we paid.
Service:
When we had questions about the food and how the set worked both before and after the food came out, the staff were either overly pushy in trying to force us to order things and borderline yelling at us, or were very condescending, trying to blame us for eating at their restaurant. Service was poor, and made the food even harder to digest.
Overall, as I said above, if you're planning on coming here- don't. It's not worth what you pay for, and even if it was cheaper, the food itself is of such poor quality, when you can go to other places for much cheaper and get higher quality food in Taipei. I would much rather go to a place where I can pick my own dishes and rice over this. Cheaper, tastier and even more convenient.
TLDR: Poor food and quality not worth the price.

Unexpectedly not that good - Edit
We were a bit disappointed, the noodle meal was cold and not that tasty and the dumplings had a weird filling. We only really liked the fries, which we actually only ordered because we were really hungry. After we were done our drinks finally came, they were the only really good thing.

Nice place for a slow meal - Edit
Had the medium set menu, food was nice and the environment was calm and quiet. Staff not in the dining area much so some customers were waiting to be served. My meal came out fine and I enjoyed the food. A bit pricey but it was a nice place for a long lunch

Pricy for what you get - Edit
Tried the set meal, got a tasty plate of noodles, soup, an appetizer and kombucha some cookies at the end for 580 yuan.
Read moreYou can get similar quality & quantity from one of the buffets nearby for half that.
The ambience was neat but table service fairly slow as well. Wasn’t impressed.

tsk smh - Edit
I am usually not this critical but this one i cannot don't say.
Read moreHow is this restaurant top rated.
Nobody came to guide customer when arrived, nobody take initiative to take order, need to walk around and find a stuff to come over.
Food is bland. Noodle soup is tasteless, carrot cake is tasteless with weird sour sauce. Then the dumplings taste spoiled.
Overpriced and slow to serve food. Come in a group, service one person dish and have another person wait 40 mins before their dish arrived. the 1st person would have finished their food, and i have to say the portion is too small and stingy.
Your performance sucks tbh. i expects wa meng ti or something relatable but nope. only their staff clapping and cheering for your performance to boost atmosphere but no one really listening, and you forced me to order extra to listen to that without telling me the requirements upon entering your restaurant.
Lastly, the information provided is wrong. They don't accept cards, how much cash do u expect me to carry to eat in your "restaurant"? a hundred thousand twd?

Loads of options, some english & cool atmosphere - Edit
The menu is pretty big with plenty of options! The menu is bilingual so that’s a plus and the staff have enough English for service. Really delicious food, would happily go again.

不錯的一間(蔬)素食館 - Edit
一間點在地下室,餐點精緻美味可口,從餐點到飯後果汁都看的料理的用心,在這裡用餐非常舒適,不錯一間(蔬)素食料理店,而且有時候會有現場表演可以欣賞。服務也不錯。

Interesting decor, good food, and overnight hours on Friday - Edit

Read moreLocated near Ximending station, Meimen Garden is a restaurant that’s themed as an underground shelter. The place is also atmospheric and decorated with various statues and art pieces.
One of the most interesting features of this restaurant is that it opens overnight every Friday night from 10pm to 6am the next day. The menu is not as extensive, but you can still enjoy a late night bowl of noodles or some traditional side dishes.
Unlike the branch mentioned above, this one is not all vegan as milk is used in a small number of dishes. Those dishes are marked clearly.
The dishes I tried are nicely made and flavorful. Although the noodle soup with crispy soy cutlet is quite oily, the specialty side dish and pineapple cake are seasoned and cooked well.
Pros: Good location near Ximending, Interesting decor and atmosphere, Opens overnight on Friday night
Cons: Soy cutlet noodles is quite oily

Good Lunch - Edit
Was here July 2019. Saw this place listed on happycow and gave it a try. Here's my Meimen FangKongDong review. You can walk down the stairs, or to through the doors to the left to take the elevator downstairs. Surprising it's quite nicely decorated and spacious down there, and quite busy on the day we went for lunch. We ordered the vege fish with rice (more like seitan / wheat meat than tvp), the house garden noodle soup, and a plate of boiled dumplings. For dessert we had the pineapple pastry and a cookie. Everything we ordered was vegan and quite delicious. Prices fair for Taipei.

Great food and affordable prices. - Edit
Menu consist plenty of set meals. The prices are affordable too. Service staff are friendly but sometimes not easy to get their attention as there is a divider wall between the dining area and the cashier area.

Best meal we’ve had in Taipei - Edit
I loved this place SO MUCH, it is super fancy and relaxing with lovely music and tea, but I think very affordable (100-200 for most items, some fancier set meals if you want a lot of food). Our total bill for a big noodle soup, appetizer, and huge smoothie came out to 520. They have an extensive menu, of noodles, western style food, dumplings, and lots of juices. I couldn’t recommend it more highly, it was just what we needed after returning from a long tour to Jiufen.

Lovely surprise - Edit
Stumbled in on some kind of fundraising event here and we were treated to some lovely singing and some young men doing a martial arts performance. We greatly enjoyed our meal of dumplings, sandwiches and greens plus a delicious range of local sides. Definitely on the pricier side than other great Taipei eateries at $NTD1100 for the three of us, but a lot of effort went into the food and presentation and the service was impeccable, so friendly and helpful. And the restaurant itself is gorgeous - slick and comfortable design. Well worth a special treat in this fabulous city.
