Vegan Options in Small Town Texas - Edit
Went to McGarity’s with my family bc of their vegan and vegetarian menu. I got the veggie pasta with pesto and it was very tasty. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in Jefferson.

Seperate, small vegan/vegetarian menu. Tried the vegetable pasta (asparagus, brussels sprouts, green beans, mushrooms, & onions over penne in a light broth); it was pretty good. The other couple options have jackfruit, which I'm not a fan of, so probably won't try those.

Top-notch cooking - Edit
I wasn’t expecting much from the vegan options in Jefferson, but this was pretty good. The food was extremely good quality. I got the pasta with vegetables and the vegetables were fresh and cooked very well. The pesto/herb sauce on the pasta was great. I avoided the jackfruit items due to the previous review, but I honestly might check them out if I’m ever back in Jefferson.
Read more2021 Edit: I’m not sure what happened but this time the quality of the cooking wasn’t up to par. They left the Brussels sprouts whole which was hard to chew. The asparagus was completely overcooked and just a mushy stringy mess. Maybe just stick to the french fries?

The cutest place / vegan options, not great - Edit
I love that this place tries to offer vegan options. However unseasoned, uncooked jackfruit thrown on a bun isn't a "frenchdip". And the jackfruit pasta is just as bad, sour pasta sauce, with uncooked unseasoned jackfruit. The waitress did take the items off our bill, but we drove 45 minutes out of our way to try this place, so I feel the need to warn other vegans. Also they no longer have the jackfruit tacos.

Great vegan options in a historic building. - Edit
There is a separate vegan/vegetarian menu available upon request. The jackfruit street tacos are so good that I have to force myself to order anything else - but I have tried the other options and they are all also very delicious. Sandwiches, pasta, and vegan bowls are also on the vegan menu. We hear there is even a vegan dessert in the works. Looking forward to trying that! Full bar with excellent margaritas for those who enjoy an adult beverage.

Most try the vegan tacos! - Edit
This place is my new favorite! The atmosphere is great and the food is FANTASTIC! I was pleasantly surprised to know that they offer a vegan and a vegetarian menu, so my husband and I drove 45 minutes to try it. It was worth the drive! The vegan street tacos are addictive, even if you're a meat eater. The owner was also incredibly helpful and friendly. I'm so happy to have this place nearby.
