Yummy food and wonderful atmosphere - Edit
There weren’t any entrees which were vegan, but it was easy to modify existing items to make them vegan. Maria is a delight! Also the guacamole was among the best we’ve eaten!

Homemade food with service that matches - Edit
The menu didn't specify vegan specific, but the staff, and who I think was Maria, were so nice and accommodating. Made me a stew with onions, potatoes and peppers, along with tortillas, beans & rice. A bit hot spicy was perfect for me.
Read moreVegan, vegetarian, and traditional..we all enjoyed the meal and how welcoming they were.
Note that because they make everything homemade, they could run out of items if dining late.
Pros: GREAT people and service 👏 , Fresh food
Cons: Vegan marked choices on the menu would be nice

Best Mexican Food in all of Chicagoland. - Edit
You know those restaurants where you can go in and get treated like family? That is Maria’s Buena Cocina, every time. You will never be disappointed. Maria herself comes from the heart of Mexico, from a mother who really knew how to cook. They are always happy to provide all vegan dishes, and their supremely flavorful food needs no embellishment from alternative cheeses or sour creams….it stands entirely on its own. I’m originally from Texas, and I know amazing Mexican food. Order the potato tacos. You won’t be disappointed. Her homemade molé is OUT OF THIS WORLD. Their Mexican rice and refried beans are unmatched. Their guacamole is enough to turn around even the worst day, and I dream about the complimentary salsa they provide every night! Every food touched by this good-hearted, authentic Mexican couple who owns the place turns to pure gold, and I can’t imagine anyone walking out dissatisfied.
Read moreFor many years, we frequented Maria and Nacho’s older franchise, and it couldn’t be more fitting that they now have a place of their own. I personally don’t think they charge enough for the quality of their food. They are a true family business that Chicagoland is incredibly fortunate to have. I wouldn’t wait another day, even another moment if you haven’t yet experienced Maria’s Buena Cocina. Tip them big 😉
Pros: Knowledgable and flexible service, Best cooking on the planet, Wholesome and pleasant atmosphere
Cons: The only con is that they are not a fully vegan es

Awesome food - Edit
Terrific tacos. Staff was very helpful in telling me what was and wasn't vegan. The owner's husband is vegan, so they're very committed to providing good options.
