This artisan gelateria produces a couple of vegan gelato flavors, which all have a very creamy and silky texture! There's no strange aftertaste or any icy texture. Plus, they have more vegan-friendly flavors than fruit-based sorbets.
Read moreYou couldn't guess that many of their nut- and chocolate-flavored gelato is actually vegan! Particularly their pistacchio and gianduja gelato are amazing! Even the fruit flavors were creamy - unlike sorbets!
Their menu changes quickly, but there should be a number of 5-7 vegan flavors available each day. Vegan flavors are labeled with a large "V", allergens are labeled as well.
The gelateria is located along the Newtown "Vegan Mile". The store is rather small and operates mostly for take-out. There are a couple of seats outside, if you want to sit down by the road.

I had the hazelnut/gianduia and the pistachio flavors, so good! Velvety, no "milks" added, with actual pieces of hazelnuts and pistachios. We came here because the person who recommended it had traveled the world eating gelato and went toa gelato university, and we cannow testify that she definetely knew what she was talking about.

So many vegan flavors to choose from. I got the pistachio and chocolate hazelnut. Soo good. I lived in Florence for a few months and Mapo definitely matched up to what I got over there.

The overall design is rather plain. I've walked right past it a few times when trying to locate it. They'd rather let the ice cream do the talking! Pistachio is my favourite so far.

I wish they had Mapo in Melbourne. They had 7 vegan options when I went: Lemon, Watermelon, blueberry, almond, Nutella, pistachio and cacao.

Heaps of vegan options to choose from. Pear, almonds, plum, CACAO (absolutely delicious!!!) and finally, after 3 years far from my hometown in Italy, I am eating a real amazing gelato again!! Price is pretty good to! Will be back asap😋✨💖
