A Special Place - Edit
Mango has been on my 'go to' list for a while and it certainly didn't disappoint on our recent visit.
Read moreThe 3 of us shared:
*Sharing Platter for 2
*Channa Masala
*Ravaiya Nu Shak
*Methi Malai Kofta
*Gujarati Roti / Naan
*Pilau / Bhaat
*Gajjar Halwa
*Chocolate Pistachio Cake
The sharing platter consisted of 4 starters (onion bhaji, dhokra, cassava spheres and methi gota), all of which were superb, as were the mains that were aromatic and had such depth in flavour. Perfectly cooked rice and breads too.
An opportunity for some delicious halwa and chocolate pistachio cake were also taken and brought to an end a memorable dining experience. Staff and interior were very welcoming and although our meal was expensive (£116.71), it was with every penny.
Pros: Fantastic food , Ambiance , Staff / Interior
Cons: Expensive

Glad you finally got round to it. Since our first visit in 2008 this place left a lasting impression. It’s arguably the best veggie / vegan restaurant in the north of England. We paid £84 for 2 a few months ago but like you say, worth every penny!

Exceptional restaurant - Edit
This is one of my favourite restaurants of all time. It’s beautiful inside, the food is sensational and the staff / owners are super friendly. We’ve been coming here since 2009 and keep coming back whenever possible for a very special dining experience.

Fabulous - Edit
I did a cookery class here and loved it. The owners are so friendly and helpful and the class was great. The dishes were mostly vegan or could be veganised - highly recommend!

Mango Wetherby is my new favourite restaurant. - Edit
Three of us visited on a Saturday night before Christmas, after booking.
Read moreThe restaurant is smartly presented.
We were seated quickly and the plentiful staff were very helpful and friendly throughout. They explained anything on the menu we asked about and since I said so online when I booked, we were quickly asked which were the two vegan diners of the three people.
We had poppadoms and a trio of dips to start which I recommend.
We then shared a platter for two of vegan starters between the three of us and there was more than enough. Again recommended.
For main, I had a Methi Malai Kofta in a tomato sauce and that was made vegan without even the slightest fuss and spiced to my taste. The other two had a mushroom korma and a Ravaiya nu Shak (which is baby aubergines stuffed with a peanut masala paste). I had a peshawari naan aside which was delicious and I have never before seen vegan and the others had rice.
The food was delicious and we were not rushed. We had a nice chat with the owner/front of house at the end of our meal which made us feel very welcome.
Pros: Plenty of free street parking after 6pm., No meat on this menu., Smart restaurant and lovely staff.
Cons: The restaurant became quite hot., Bottled beer could have been more chilled., I regret I haven't been here before.

Lots of Vegan Choice & Lovely Staff! - Edit
I really wanted to try so many of their vegan menu items, starting with the mushroom korma since I rarely get the opportunity to have a vegan korma. They clarified that they’re dog-friendly but the seating area is a bit cramped so I decided not to dine in with my dog.
Read moreWhilst I waited for my takeout delivery, the staff member was friendly and attentive - she gave me a table and a drink whilst I waited. My dosa came wrapped in foil with the sauces in separate plastic tubs. They also threw in some cutlery because I said I was going to eat by the river. The dosa tasted great, although “mild” was still a little too spicy for me.
I would’ve preferred better packaging, like a sturdy box that I could use as a plate. Unfortunately the thin foil got cut every time I cut my food so I couldn’t even add the sauces or they’d be all over my pants by the time I finished. It was a pretty messy experience - I got covered in grease and that’s why I didn’t get any food photos!
I opted for a dosa believing it would be the easiest to eat outside but the korma may have been a better idea after all… anyway I can’t wait to come back without my dog and dine in!
Pros: Friendly staff, Tasty food, Vegan choice
Cons: No delivery, Poor takeaway packaging , Small seating area

Authentic, lovely - Edit
Great food most is vegan or can be made vegan, authentic flavors a refreshing change from the usual Indian restaurants in the UK with everything swimming in oil etc. Highly recommended. Lovely knowledgeable staff. Wish they had one like this near where I live (York)

Mango - Edit
Lovely traditional pure veg Indian restaurant offering authentic dishes. Plenty of vegan options on the menu. I was very happy to find a peshwari naan, my first in 10 years! Dishes were nicely flavoured with level of spice being asked for at the point of ordering, so something for everyone! Staff were really friendly and accommodating. Very busy on a Saturday night, would definitely recommend booking a table. No on site car parking.

A Jewel of the North - Edit
Beautifully designed and presented place in this quaint little Yorkshire market town. Easy to find just off the main street, this place offers brunch, lunch and evening dining options. I’ve experienced all three but it’s in the evening when this place truly shows its magic as one of the best meat free establishments in the North of England. The menu is extensive and unique, a real credit to the wonderful chef who runs the show. If anyone can remember the wonderful and fabulous Hansas in Leeds, I actually think this place is even better. The vegan choice is excellent, and most dishes can actually be served as vegan. The food is quite simply sensational, made with great attention to detail and served with enthusiasm. Also, when you see Indians dining here you know you are in a good place. We had the methi malai kofta served with rice and a huge masala dosa filled with rice, lentils, spiced potatoes and cauliflower. Both sensational. These were washed down with big 600ml bottles of Kingfisher and Cobra beer. Don’t usually do desserts but as a one-off it was very difficult to turn down the chocolate pistachio cake served with vegan vanilla ice cream. An utterly amazing restaurant.

Great food, friendly restaurant - Edit
The menu is slightly smaller than most indian restaurants but there's a good variety of dishes to choose from. Really nice inside, we had a brilliant meal. The service was a little but slow on the night we went, they were apologetic and explained they had staff shortages.

Best Gujerati food in Yorkshire - Edit
OK, it's the only Gujerati I've been to in Yorkshire. But next time I'm among the Tykes, I would make a detour to Mango. I was starving by the time we got there, and left feeling pleasantly full, having scoffed masala pappadoms (cleverly done with chopped tomatoes, almost like a bruschetta), ragda pattice and a delicious masala dosa, which they made in a vegan version for me (as the original has yoghurt in the coconut chutney). My only two small criticisms: I would have liked a little more of the sambar that accompanied the dosa, and a nice pale ale would have accompanied the food better than the lagers that were on offer. Still, I can overlook both of these.
Read moreI wish I'd had the pani puris now.
Pros: Deliciously lip-smacking sambar, Not just the usual pappadoms, Really great dosas and chaats
Cons: More sambar!, Pale ale?

Tastiest food you can imagine - Edit
Menu is all vegetarian/vegan and most vegetarian dishes can be made vegan as everything is cooked to order. I can’t find words to describe how tasty the food is. We shared a number of different dishes and all were amazing. It’s a family run restaurant with a hugely friendly and welcoming host who clearly loves his work. My personal recommendation is the baby aubergine stuffed with peanuts. Great range of desserts too with a really creamy vegan “spice cream”. Also very reasonably priced. We left feeling very satisfied without feeling unpleasantly full. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Flavours - Edit
There's plenty of clearly marked vegan options on the menu of freshly prepared food here. Everything was absolutely delicious, with a really fantastic flavour to each dish. We were also able to enjoy a yummy vegan dessert of chocolate and pistachio cake. It's a family business and the staff were so lovely and friendly, chatting with us about plant-based eating.

Excellent vegan food - Edit
We had been intending to try this restaurant for a while and finally managed it. Wow what a treat! The food was cooked to order and was fabulous. Had a Starter Platter for two followed by a Main dish each. Lots of vegan options and menu states when dishes can be made vegan as well. Definitely plan to return.

Really very good - Edit
It's taken me a while to get round to doing this review so things may have changed as they were just finding their feet when I went. Really delicately spiced Indian food. Plenty of choice for vegans with main courses, but no choice at all on desserts when I went. They do serve wine but it is "de-alcholised" - which I find rather unpleasant. Good choice of soft drinks though. Very friendly people.

real indian healthy food - Edit
popped in today on my way home from Sheffield really handy from the M1. Loads for vegans I had pockets of chickpeas and potatoes so so good and my boyf massala dosa was amazing too. I love this kind of indian food and I'm hoping to be passing on an evening soon. Staff were nice only complaint was quite expensive mine was £4.95 and boyfs was £8.50 you can get dosa and veg curry for £4.50 near me and mine wasn't enough for a main meal. Totally woth going as a treat and it did look like they did offers and deals on an evening
