Nice dinner!

There is almost no option to eat in Sepilok - Mango Garden restaurant belongs to Nature Lodge resort where I stayed and it is a life saver😄

The prices are higher, but I still feel like they are reasonable taking into account that Sepilok is so small!

They do have choice of vegetable curry, or fried rice with veggies - no tofu unfortunately.

I took Malaysian style curry with rice and the price before tax was 14,5 RM.
It was tasty.

What is worth mentioning is the service and atmosphere - the people are very polite and the place is cute with lights once it gets dark😊

Best option around Sepilok

We were staying at this lodge so ate dinner the 3 nights we were here. It was not a buffet in the evening for us. We had a menu which can be adapted to vegan.
We tried to veggie fried rice (no egg), Veggie noodles (no egg), the veggie curry and the oil chilli pasta which is usually served with prawns however the chef changed it to veggies.
All the food was very nice and tasty. Reasonable price too (under 20rm) per dish. Cheapest beer, wine and soft drinks we've seen around the area too.
The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable so able to help. We enjoyed our time.
Defo recommend :)

Simple food, limited options and expensive

They do not have any a la carte dishes during peak season whenever they have over 15 guests staying in house. The dinner buffet consists of 3 main dishes, 2 of which are vegan: stir-fried greens and vegetable curry. There is rice, watermelon, very watery orange juice, water, tea and coffee as well. The food tastes good but is quite simple for the price (27.75 RM) and there is no vegan protein. Their dinner service hours are also very limited (7:00-8:30 pm).

Pros: Most of the buffet options are vegan, Food tastes good, Friendly staff

Cons: Expensive, Limited vegan options during peak season, No vegan protein options

Only buffet for tour

Our driver dropped us off there before driving to Kinabatangan. They only had a buffet with very limited vegan options. We asked if they could make us something but they couldn't. So we went across the street and the restaurant had vegan options

Nice spot if in sepilok

We thought we were going to have trouble in Sepilok, however, the staff at Mango Garden were very helpful. They showed us tree items that can be made vegan. We tried the vegetables with curry and fried rice for dinner. The fried rice was delicious and our favourite.

The next day we had lunch included with a tour and we were served spring rolls, a salad and choice of main.

There is a vegan option for staff to select when putting through the order to the kitchen.

I am also GF and they noted that most items are/can be made gluten free as they have lots of travellers with dietary requirements.

Pros: Three options on menu that can be made vegan, Staff are knowledgeable about vegan, Most items can be made gluten free
