Local, inexpensive, authentically great taste! - Edit
Mama Lai was the first meal of my whirlwind Taiwan trip. Very sweet family running the small eatery. No English knowledge, but a local helped me order the day’s special. Very cheap in USD and tasty! I would return on a longer stay in Taipei

Basic yummy vegan food - Edit
At £2.50 you can't complain. Probably one of the most "authentic" food experiences you can have in Taipei while knowing you're getting a fully vegan meal.

Lovely food - Edit
Lovely eatery with cheap dishes. The owners were really friendly. The man helped me to translate the Chinese menu and I had the Angelica soup and noodles with tofu. The food is not very oily and salty which is great because it makes it perfect for a very healthy lunch. Personally, I would have enjoyed a tad more spices.

This long established traditional local family shop is not fancy. Super friendly owners. Owner mama is aging and enjoys serving food to people. She says it gets her going.
