Very Good - Edit
Of course we had to try Mama Dut after the hype from Netflix. Can’t order online or over the phone you have to go in person to order. Small menu and biggest con is prices are high. Bao buns are almost $7 each. We order a duck bao bun, mushroom bao bun, and a kimchi roll. We cut everything into thirds and each had a small bite just to try. Coming from Long Island we don’t have many options for vegan food especially such a different variety of ethnic foods. It’s mainly burgers and pizza so being able to try places like this have been incredible. the duck bao bun was my favorite. It was really flavorful. I also enjoyed the mushroom bao bun, but liked the duck bao bun better. The kimchi roll was also really good and had a slight kick.

Vegan Vietnamese - Edit
The Lemongrass Beef Rice Bowl includes vegan beef braised in a lemongrass ginger garlic fish sauce served over fragrant pork belly floss, pickled carrots and daikon, fresh cucumbers, and topped with scallion oil and drizzled with fish sauce. It was flavorful without being too spicy for me. However, there was something else that was spicy, but it wasn't listed on the menu, so I don't know what it was.
Read moreThe Savory Mushroom Pate So is a flaky puff pastry filled with assorted mushrooms sautéed in a spicy savory glaze. It was savory, but not spicy at all.
The Mango Strudel is a flaky puff pastry filled with house-made mango jam and topped with coconut cream icing. I don't generally like fruit-filled pastries, but this was somewhat subtle.
Pros: all vegan
Cons: pricey, no seating

One of my top favorite vegan restaurants - Edit
Hands-down, one of my favorite restaurants in Portland. I love almost everything on the menu. I think there's only been a few things I haven't tried yet. Also, the staff there are so friendly and welcoming. I've been there so many times and already I'm so sad to hear that they're closing down. I'm gonna make sure to try to go there as much as I can before the 19th. I hope anyone who's reading this review will also take the time to show some love and stop by and try something from their delicious menu. I have so much respect and love for this owner. She is so caring for her community and other communities as well.

all vegan Vietnamese comfort food - Edit
I recently went to Mama Dut. They do all vegan Vietnamese comfort food. I went with the Pork Belly Banh Mi. It came with a locally baked baguette filled with housemate pork belly aka marinated jackfruit, fermented carrots, fresh cucumbers, jalapeños, kimchi aioli, scallions and fried shallots.
Read moreIt was very tasty with fresh ingredients and good size portion. It is a bit costly yet is a gourmet sandwich with fresh ingredients and quality ingredients with many if not all made in house.
Friendly service. The only room for improvement would be to have tables for dining in. Right now is to go only.
Definitely worth checking out if in Portland!
Pros: all vegan Vietnamese comfort food, quality ingredients, many if not all items made in house
Cons: no seating so to go only

Pork Belly yes, Ribs no - Edit
We came here for a very early dinner on a Saturday afternoon. Most of their items had already been sold out. We ordered one pork belly banh mi, and a rib banh mi. Unfortunately there are no tables or seating outside. Food was ready Relatively quickly. The pork belly banh mi is super rich, oily, and it is a little bit overdressed with aïoli. The ribs were curious. They were very crunchy and reminded me of a savory hard cracker puff, my partner, thought it reminded him of burnt ends. I would say half of the pork belly one is enough to satiate. I would probably try their jackfruit or tofu ones in the future.

Fresh flavors, generous portions - Edit
The pork belly banh mi was huge! It had great fresh flavors, loved the veggies and sauce and bread. However, my husband and I don't love jackfruit and pork belly was never our thing before going vegan, so we'd probably order something different next time, but we'd love to try more of the dishes here. I absolutely loved the ube whoopie pie and want to try more flavors! The staff was also really nice and friendly. We went around when they opened on a weekday and there was a bit of a line, but it wasn't terrible. There's no seating or restroom facilities for customers, so we carried our lunch to a nearby park. One sandwich (and a whoopie pie) was plenty for the two of us for lunch.

Delicious but pricey - Edit
I didn't even know that they were kinda famous because of Netflix when someone recommended this place in Portland.
Read moreIt was SO DELICIOUS! I had the "pork belly" banh mi and one of their homemade lemonades, and both were great.
Before I became vegetarian, I didn't even like the animal pork belly, but this vegan one? So good!
😋😋😋
BUT I paid more than $20, so kinda pricey... ;)
It's just for takeaway, so no seating available. I went there on a rainy day at around 1:30pm and had only two people in front of me, but I've heard that it can be quite busy...
I'm super happy with what I had, but if I lived in Portland (which I don't unfortunately...) I wouldn't go to Mama Dut too often - too expensive 🙄
Pros: Delicious food (loved the pork belly!!), Very cute and delicious homemade lemonades , Friendly staff
Cons: Pricey, No seating (if that's what you're looking for)

Super tasty - Edit
I was going to eat at this place last weekend but then find out it was a grab and go place without any seating and using disposables. I did not have my own container with me that day so I put off trying the place.
Read moreToday I took my stainless steel container and had a very delicious chicken oyster mushroom. I had the gluten free version so did not get the opportunity to enjoy the baguette sandwich that they are well know for.
I had spent over 5 hours Cycling around in the rain and waited in line for over 20 minutes for my meal. I was cold and wet.
I ate it in a bus shelter across the street.
It was super tasty.
For 14.75$ it was a little on the high side for what you got.
Staff were good and helpful.
Pros: Super tasty, Allowed me to use my own reusable container for my
Cons: A tad on the expensive side

Must try at least once! - Edit
Mama dut is a very friendly Vietnamese fusion kitchen.
Read moreWe tried two different kinds of bao buns and they were both delicious! The banh mi was okay, although I would suggest going for something more peculiar unless you're really looking for a sandwich. Unfortunately the specials were sold out, so we couldn't try those.
The "death by ube" whoopie pie is A M A Z I N G! And it kept getting better with every bite! Even if you're not looking for a full meal, I absolutely recommend getting at least this one, you won't regret it!
The main downside (for me) was the lack of in-place seating.
One last thing: we arrived half an hour before the afternoon opening (3:30pm) and people were already lining up waiting to order, and then half an hour after they started taking orders they were sold out! So my suggestion would be to come early.

Must try in Portland! - Edit
I love to support small, women owned BIPOC businesses and this takes the cake. Great service and great food. All of the bao are amazing and they have some gluten free options to sub rice for the bahn mi bread. Great energy in there even when they’re slammed

Over hyped place! - Edit
We had to wait in long queue for 30 min to order (plan ahead!). However, there is no place to sit and eat. This is take out only place. Food is definitely not worth the hype! The pork belly sandwich we ordered was bland and there no flavor in it. Chicken sandwich was good though! But I wouldn't wait in line for this, there are better restaurants out there. Drinks are just too sweet and expensive. I wouldn't go back here.

Very good but get there early and be ready to wait! - Edit
Got there 1 hour after they opened. Had to wait 1 hour in line to order and then another 30 minutes to recieve our food after ordering. Just before ordering, they informed us that they’d sold out of over half their menu items. Very disappointed not to be able to order what we wanted after getting there only 1 hour after opening, but the food was very good. Got the ryb bao buns.
