North Country Gem

TL;DR: I guess my meat loving dad is a regular? I think that's a damn positive review.

I had a tofu scramble burrito which was a vegan conversion of I think an egg scramble. The burrito was very good, and had a pretty unique flavor profile. Serving size was fair for the price.

I also had a chia seed + coconut +blueberry pudding which I enjoyed.

As others have said, this is a vegetarian eatery with tons of vegan options. It seemed like most of the non-ready made food was able to be made vegan, while the prepared options such as desserts and pizza were not. Vegan options aren't always labeled, but staff understood well how to make things vegan. This is not a restaurant where you will be playing 'guess what's in your food'.

I live in the area, so I'll definitely be coming back to Maia Papaya in the future. There aren't too many veggy joints up this way, so I'm pleased that this one is so high quality.

Awesome

The White Mountains in NH can be quite challenging for vegans seeking dining options, but we stumbled upon a hidden gem of a restaurant that exceeded our expectations! The staff was incredibly welcoming, and the food they served was simply outstanding. While the menu predominantly caters to vegetarians, they offer an impressive array of vegan dishes as well. One particular highlight was the breakfast sandwich, which they skillfully transformed into a vegan delight using sausage tofu and an assortment of fresh veggies. My son, too, relished the vegan burger wrap, declaring it absolutely delicious. We were so enamored with this place that we made the journey from the Omni hotel every single day for five consecutive days! That's just how much we adored it. Try the vegan bake of the day, it is always a bliss!

Pros: Vegan options also healthy , Smoothies , Bake goods

Cons: Nothing

More vegetarian than vegan, but still great breakfast spot!

Busy, not a lot of seating. The menu is all veganizable, but this place is much more for vegetarians. Few of the pastries in the case were vegan. Establishing my burrito order was a negotiation because I don’t like fake meat and fake cheese and fake whatever, which is what they specialize in. My smoothie was nice, but they were out of a lot of their smoothie fixins.

Pros: Lovely staff, Breakfast

Cons: Minimal seating, Not as accommodating to vegans as anticipated

Loved Everything

We stopped in for breakfast. They were very but service was quick and the food was outstanding. We had the vegan burritos and the flavors and textures were exactly what they should be. I wish we were going to be in the area longer so we could try more options. Very friendly and efficient staff.

Pros: Variety of options, Timely Service, Pleasant Staff

Receives my best vegan sandwich award! 🤩

We ordered a veganized burger wrap and the veggie panini melt. Either would have been enough to share, but we were happy to have leftovers. Definitely the best vegan sandwiches we have had in, well, maybe ever!

Pros: Vegetarian but can be made vegan, Wonderfully fresh and varied options, Delicious and visually appealing

Good coffee; okay food from deli case

Maia Papaya clearly labels items that are vegan and even gluten free for those with food allergies. They have excellent coffee and pastries (mostly vegetarian) and are very popular in the morning. We had lunch there, and the fresh cooked items that folks in my group got looked amazing. I got a burrito bowl from the deli case that had clearly been sitting in there for a little while. It was yummy, but the lettuce was wilted and there was a bit of mold on the beans. I would suggest getting something fresh and avoiding the already prepared food items.

Pros: Clear labels for vegan options, Good coffee, Local art

Cons: Items in the deli case may not be super fresh

Nice options, have vegan cheese

Had pesto and vegan cheese panini (just ask them for vegan cheese). It was tasty. Also bought a power bowl to have later on: it was nice, but lacking flavor.

Vegan. Pastries.

I enjoyed two breakfasts here. Vegan pastries and coffee fixings. Like every restaurant out here, hours vary by staff presence.

Great Breakfast Place

Lots of vegan options but unlabeled. Replacing the cheese with vegan cheese was free, and I believe the Pesto and Hummus is all vegan. Tofu costs extra, but everything is very tasty

Good food, a lot of options

Nothing explicitly labeled vegan and you have to remove cheese from most things. You can replace the eggs with tofu but it costs $2 extra

Delicious

We go out of our way always to stop at this cafe. The coffee is the best I've ever had. The wraps, salads with vegan pesto or hummus, veggie burgers and vegan desserts are amazing,. This is my favorite cafe ever!!! Great place to just sit and have coffee, plenty of books strewn around to read or can sit outside when sunny.

Nice options!

Cute vegetarian cafe! They have vegan options like tofu scramble, plant milks, vegan sausage, and vegan cheese that wasn’t on the menu. Prices are a bit too high. Food is a bit under seasoned. Definitely a good stop for breakfast/lunch in the area! Will go again if I’m near (and bring salt LOL). The baked goods we tried (vegan brownie and cinnamon roll) were great! I think the cinnamon roll was the best we’ve ever had in our lives.

Pros: Vegan options, Atmosphere

Cons: High prices, Under seasoned

Great for vegetarians, not so much for vegans

Nice little shop that serves both breakfast and lunch! Mainly vegetarian with few vegan substitutes; good if you're passing through the area and in a pinch. The prices are reasonable and the staff is very polite.

Pros: Healthy options for both breakfast and lunch, Great coffee, Has some baked goods that are vegan friendly

Cons: Small building, usually packed with people, Mainly vegetarian

Super cute!

We found this place by chance while driving through the area. It’s clearly a local spot as the counter staff knew many of the customers by name. The veggie burger is both vegan and gluten free and delicious!! The salads also looked good and all wraps could be done on greens instead of the wheat tortilla (gluten allergy over here!). There were several dessert options as well. Everything is clearly marked. Gem!!

Pros: Several vegan options for meals and desserts

Wish There Were More Vegan Options

The Maia Papaya is a great little vegetarian spot, but I wish they had more vegan options or substitutes available on their menu. We found this cafe driving through Bethlehem, NH but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back. I had a vegetable and hummus wrap and left still kind of hungry...

Pros: funky vibe, vegetarian options

Cons: limited vegan options

Great Vegan Food!

Nice place! Wonderful customer base too. You can really tell there's a strong community in this area by how the people treat each other in the cafe.

Ordered the vegetarian salad to go with no feta and a veggie burger, aka vegan style. Very well done, and good portion size as well.

Pros: Customization of menu items, Great customer base

Cons: In the middle of nowhere practically

lucky find

We stumbled upon this place on a road trip. We had delicious vegan vegetable soup made with local veggies and some excellent coffee with Vermont-made soy milk. Other options were granola with soy milk and hummus wraps. Cute place to stop for breakfast or lunch if you're in the area.
