Slovakian vegan food

I tried the potato dumpling with smoked tofu and it was delicious. Make sure to go downstairs because the food spot is hidden.

Pros: Smoky flavour of the tofu, Softness of potato dunpling, Creamy sauce

Cons: Not sure where the money lace was

Pros: Totalmente vegano, Ambiente agradável, Comida saborosa

Satisfying fare

Went there on a Thursday evening, when she unfortunately had only two kinds of halušky and teriyaki tofu. We took the sheep's cheese halušky and the tofu and found both very nice, especially with a beer and a strawberry juice from the place upstairs

Pros: Satisfying dishes

Cons: No desserts 😟

Great veg halušky

Their vegan brindzove halušky in even better than the traditional one, recommended to all tourists who want to try typical Slovak dishes with no animals suffering :)

Beatiful food court

Food was nice, staff was very friendly and the place is Great!
I tried the traditional halusky. They are more like gnocchi, not dumplings because they are not filled. It was nice, but green pea balls were amazing!!
Go and enjoy this beautiful place!

Try your "Halušky"

We visited this place specifically for the Halušky and we were delighted. The food was very tasty and authentic, only the portion could be a bit bigger for us personally, but at least you will have room for other dishes. The place is a bit hidden and more difficult to find, but worth a visit.
However, we found the location in the basement impractical, where after ordering you have to wait and take your food upstairs, so you can't choose seats in advance.

I am now stuffed and will sleep for 1000 years

This place is great. If you’re here and looking specifically to try something that’s region specific, they can do a Halusky after 3pm - two varieties pictured here, one with a vegan sheep’s cheese and one with a kraut base (strapacky). Both fantastic.

Definitely make a point of stopping here.

Open - but no one to serve us...?

We walked quite a way this evening to try this restaurant, but when we got there there wasn't anyone behind the counter to serve us. We asked an employee at another of the food places who ensured us that, yes, Made with Laf was open, and went out to tell the Laf people that they had customers, but no one showed up. Disappointing...
Luckily there were other places in the same food court where we could get perfectly nice vegetation food.
@Happy Cow: The option to give only one star really ought to exist. Forcing us to give minimum 2 stars skews the results, and is a disservice to those have actually earned that rating.

Cons: Noone working the restaurant even though its open, Open but - No service, as in none...

Yummy, juicy and filling vegan halušky

EDIT: I went back after 5 years. The halušky is still great, and now there are 2 types to choose from. But beware: you can only get this dish after 3pm, until then they have a separate lunch menu that does not include this traditional dish.
The place is still nice, the food is no longer brought to the tables by the waiters, but you get a buzzer that alerts you when your food is ready.

---

We visited this restaurant in October 2019. The venue is located in a food court with both indoor and outdoor seating available. This actual restaurant is located underground, so after ordering we decided to sit outside - luckily the weather was still warm enough for that. The waitress spoke perfect English, and was happy to help translate the menu for us.

There weren't many options on the menu, but since I was determined to try out something traditional I didn't have to think much, and opted for the halušky, which is dumplings in a creamy sauce, with grilled tempeh and chives for topping. The food required a little preparation time, but we didn't have to wait there, the waiter brought it up to the courtyard for us. It tasted wonderful! The dumplings were soft, the sauce very creamy, the topping very intense - and it all seemed scarily authentic. I do have a non-vegan background, so I have some faint memories of the taste of bryndza and bacon, two ingredients that are traditionally used to make halušky - and both the creamy sauce and the grilled tempeh were scarily resemblant of the tastes I remember. I never thought I missed any of these tastes, but once we got back home I immediately looked up a recipe for vegan halušky online. It was *that* good. And it was also filling. I'd be happy to eat this course here again if I ever go back to Bratislava :)

hard to find but worth the search

me and my friend struggled to find the place (should have read the reviews first). the guy at the counter wasn’t very helpful with letting us know how the place works (we were confused because several bars, restaurants seem merged together in the backyard) but the food we were served made up for that ;)
i had a traditional meal with dumplings and „sheep cheese“ and „bacon“ that looked small at first but, boy, was it filling! very tasty and i was glad to be able to try a bit of slovak cuisine.
i went back the next day to try the dumpling again with another topping which resembled german sauerkraut. it was divine 🙏 highly recommended

Pros: was able to try traditional slovak food, nice, hip atmosphere in the backyard, queer-friendly space

Decent food but not great variety

We tried the soup, some traditional dish like spinach gnocchi and tikka masala curry. The price was really good and the food felt healthy and authentic.

Giving 4* because they only had four dishes (and no dessert). Good I read the other reviews before as it was indeed hard to find.

Pros: Excellent price

Very good food

The teriyaki tofu tastes really good! The dumplings with vegan sheep cheese are good as well.
The location is actually super nice, the laf is kind of hidden in the basement but you will find it.

Local dumplings with lovely tofu

You will find Laf in the basement, just go in and down! The menu consisted of pea falafel, dumplings and more. I had the dumplings with sour cabbage, smoked tofu and cream. Tasty, both fermented and tangy taste

Fantastic tofu

A bit difficult to find as Google Maps took me to a different restaurant down the street. Made With Laf is in the basement of a food hall which contains other vendors. The atmosphere was nice and they have outdoor seating, and I was happy to see the LGBT flag flying, making me feel welcome. I ordered the buffalo tofu. Often I find with tofu dishes you get good flavour or good texture but rarely both, and this tofu had both. The rice and salad served with it were a great accompaniment. I also had the last slice of cake left, but made the mistake of not asking what it was (I assumed it was chocolate but it had a cherry/cinnamon/liquor taste I wasn’t fond of). Definitely worth a trip though - a cool place to eat.

Überraschung

Ein kleiner Teil, mehrerer kleinen Lokale in einem. Es ist etwas versteckt im Untergeschoß. Das suchen lohnt sich aber, den die Gerichte schmecken.

Great hidden spot for vegan halusky

It's a hidden spot in the basement of lokal unas but the food is great. Make sure to go after 3pm for the halusky. The vegan bacon is nice and smoky. While the vegan cheese isn't as thick nor salty, it still tastes excellent.
They don't serve drinks so you'll need to order from Lokal unas, which is quite expensive. Best to bring your own.

Confusing Arrangement

It is a bit confusing to find, since it is basically in the basement of another restaurant.
You either have to go around the back and take the outdoors stairs down, or you have to go into Cafe Possinum through to the back and down the stairs.

If you want to eat at the location, instead of taking the food with you, there are only seats (at the Cafe Possinum) upstairs.

If you want something to drink, you can order it at the Cafe Possinum.

The food and drink was good.

Pros: vegan version of traditional dish

Cons: confusing to find

Good halušky

These were the first halušky I’ve ever had, and they were good, even though they were too oily for my liking. But the taste of these was the only redeeming quality this place had, for it was hard to find and confusing to navigate. The portions were small and didn’t feel worth the money. Perhaps if I felt like halušky again, I would visit; otherwise, I’d rather go for one of the amazing competitors nearby.
