Accogliente con un buon menù - Edit
Locale molto accogliente a gestione familiare. Buona scelta di piatti nel menù. Sempre buona la tempura di verdure, primi piatti ben cucinati e gustosi. Siamo stati qui diverse volte, anche per San Valentino e nonostante il locale pieno il servizio è stato impeccabile e tutti era buonissimo ( come al solito) ed è un piacere cenare in un ambiente così accogliente.

English can be tricky here, but if you're savvy with Google Translate (or with pointing at pictures on their website menu), you'll have no problem with ordering something tasty and authentic.

They offer a basket of bread free of charge with your meal.
Being in a more residential area, I'm not sure if they get as many tourists as some of the other Italian vegan restaurants, so tipping seems foreign to them.

I supplì molto buoni e non pesanti, chi mi accompagnava (una non vegana) prima scettica, invece le sono piaciuti.
Pasta anche buona, ma per me particolarmente interessanti i funghi impanati, croccanti, ma non gommosi, né ultrafritti. Li riprenderei decisamente.
Le verdure porzione abbondante.
La torta un po' si sbriciolava, ma il sapore era buono.
Anche se è totalmente fuorimano per me, ci tornerò, perché comunque anche senza macchina da Metro Ottaviano e una passeggiata di 15-20 minuti in linea retta.

La qualità del cibo e la varietà del menù. Io vino rosso della casa mi ha scatenato una terribile emicrania, indicatore del fatto che fosse di scarsa qualità. Consiglio di cambiare fornitore.

Vengo abbastanza spesso a mangiare da Ma va, ogni volta però mi delude un po'.. la qualità dei prodotti è sicuramente ottima ma gli accostamenti di sapore non sempre rispettano i miei gusti. Il personale è davvero gentile, ma il locale potrebbe essere reso più carino.

This is a lovely little family-run restaurant with delicious vegan food. We got a carbonara, bucatino amatriciana, side vegetable dish, and a homemade seitan dish that came with a vegan prosciutto.
Read moreThe carbonara I tried here was my favorite out of the ones I tried in Rome, although it may have been less "traditional" - I liked it because it was less rich/less creamy than others, and had a nice smoky flavor that came along with the smoked tofu. The smoked tofu was also on the amatriciana, which was quite nice as well.
However, my favorite was definitely the seitan dish just because the prosciutto on top was incredible. I haven't had prosciutto for years and it tasted just liked the real deal - wow!
My partner got the pistachio berry tiramisu which was more like whipped cream with bits of cake here and there and strawberry jam in the middle. Not my favorite and not something to get if you're looking for authentic tiramisu but he liked it more.
Also, the staff are extremely friendly!

Went here for lunch on the way to the stadium. The pasta dishes we had were the best food that I had in Rome. So much flavor. I really wanted to go back to try more of the dishes but ran out of time.

Assolutamente strepitoso! La cotoletta di pleurotus e la carbonara erano da urlo! La prossima volta che capiterò a Roma sarà sicuramente una tappa obbligata. Consiglio la prenotazione. Sono gentili e veloci, il cibo è genuino e la presentazione è curata.

Vegan Saltimbocca made my husband a happy man. May be the first Seitan dish he’s really enjoyed! I never had it before going vegan, but did enjoy this! Service was friendly and professional. Wine was local and wonderful. Pastas hit the spot, and topped the night off with an apple cake (they call it pie in translation of torta? But it’s cake, almost quick bread) with a caramel sauce. Very satisfied!

Ho provato, tra i primi, gli spaghetti allo zenzero e lime con pinoli: deliziosi, il piatto che mi è piaciuto di più e tornerò per riprenderlo e "rubare" la ricetta. Molto generosi con i pinoli! Tra i secondi i rosti con hummus verdura e bucce di patate fritte (piacevole). Davvero molto abbondanti e cucinati benissimo i contorni: broccoletti e fagioli all'uccelletto. Prezzi onesti e servizio attento e amichevole.

This is, if I am not wrong, the first vegan place that opened in Rome (amazing!) BUT I honestly feel it is super overhyped. It feels like the menu hasn’t changed in ages (with a couple of -not great- seasonal off-the-menu dishes), the food quality is very mediocre (I remember specially some awful desserts after a normal bit expensive dinner). I feel like they’ve stopped trying hard cause they have a great position and a name. Just a shame…

I think I ended up paying about 40€ for a starter, a main and a dessert for one person. The food was good, but it wasn't so good that I'd pay that much again. Also, the pesto pasta is pretty underwhelming - I recommend picking something else instead. I enjoyed the starter and dessert a lot more than the main.

If you are after a great selection of vegan Italian dishes then this is the place to go. The risotto was one of the best I’ve tried. Overall a nice casual atmosphere with homey, well-balanced Italian food. Definitely try this for lunch or dinner when in Rome!

Recommended neighbourhood restaurant - Edit
Ma Va'? feels like a neighbourhood restaurant which, over the course of the evening, filled up with locals rather than tourists (like us). The menu is imaginative and the meal we had was delicious. Also, unlike other vegan/vegetarian places we ate at in Rome, the portions were not meagre. The prices were reasonable and the service was friendly. Highly recommend.
