Wonderful staff and atmosphere. Food could use some work.

I really wanted to love Lov! It is a beautiful space and the staff was very professional and friendly. My husband and I visited on two separate occasions while in Montreal: once for dinner, and once at an odd hour around 16:00 right before our flight home. Both times, the food just really underwhelmed me.

My husband tried the burger for dinner and enjoyed it. I tried the mac and cheese and then zucchini spaghetti with caviar, and both to me were just average, in my opinion. Both dishes needed more flavor, with the latter needing less salt.

For our mid day snack a couple days later, we tried the cheese plate. Now we're from NYC and are lucky to have a plethora of amazing vegan food at our finger tips, so maybe we have really high standards, but the cheese plate was just not very good. I also thought it was strange to serve two crumbly cheeses (Gorgonzola and Feta) on a cheese plate, when those are more salad cheeses and difficult to spread on crostini, but maybe Canadians do that...?

This could just be me picking the wrong food off the menu and not liking it.

Beautiful

The atmosphere and vibes in this restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. You instantly feel at peace here; it is so serene. I ordered the daily soup (which was a zucchini soup), as well as the poutine and a chai latte. All were incredible.

Pros: Beautiful decor, Flavorful food and drinks

Sharp Ambiance Dull Chili

Nice ambiance, like a New York bistro, with prompt though uninspired service -- during the lunchtime rush, anyway. I took the $19 "lunch express". The soup was amazing, really good, but the chili was a little blah, and way too salty. The little bowl of Costco nacho chips including lots of broken ones did not exactly "up" the food experience.

Pros: - Amazing soup, - Interesting decor

Cons: - Avoid the overly salty chili

Good Overall

The starters were amazing (Mac and cheese and the dumplings)! The mains and desert didn’t pack the same punch.

Pros: Unique options

Cons: Expensive, Lacking flavour

Cons: Un peu cher

Visited 4 times in 3 days

My wife and I absolutely love this establishment!! We had brunch twice, and the snack and dinner menu on the 4 visits. Every meal we chose something different and each meal was nothing short of amazing!! The decor, the friendly staff, and food is top notch! So happy to hear there will be a Toronto location soon.

Pros: 100% plant based & 100% deliciousness , Beautiful decor, Super friendly staff

Cons: Every city needs Lov!!

Update August 11, 2024
Very different experience. Service and good substantially average. Kitchen very late and partial delivery even on a single dish
Staff nice but incredibly short staffed
Then came a clump of mud lettuce in the salad
Shame as this was a favorite of mine

Beautiful

Beautiful place but so expensive for something that is not outstanding - plus you need to eat somewhere else after because of the miniature sized portions!

Pros: Beautiful and accessible place , Marketing, Food ok

Cons: Expensive, Small portions, Expensive and small portions

Worth a Try

Maybe I picked the wrong items but this was the place in the top of my 'vegan list'. I had the Banh Mi Burger and it was kind of just some coated tofu and slaw on a standard bun. However the menu is very expansive and the service was excellent even though I was acting super awkward (unable to speak French). It's also a really cool atmosphere. I'd check it out again to try other options.

Pros: Nice Service, Large Menu

Cons: Some Items Are Unimaginative/ Not That Flavorful

This place is an oasis in a city that’s doesn’t have a lot of vegan.

They are fully vegan now and they have a lot of delicious options.

Pros: All vegan, In Montreal

Fine, but nothing exceptional

Cool, rather busy spot with friendly staff and a varied menu. I would’ve loved to try at least five different mains but settled for the chili, which turned out to be a bit “meh” unfortunately. Very simple, without much flavor. The nachos on the side came straight from the bag, it seemed. The dessert menu was a little underwhelming, especially with two options unavailable this particular day. On the plus side, the coffee was delicious.

Pros: Lots of options, something for everyone , Flavorful coffee, Free WiFi

Cons: Chili without much love, A bit noisy at 1:30 pm on a Friday, Uninspired dessert menu

Too expensive for the not too great quality of the food

The menu looked absolutely amazing but when we received the food it did not reach up to our expectations.

It was a bit confusing to order food and make sure it was vegan/gluten free and my main entrees had to be replaced.

Staff friendly but overall the place needs improvement; lower prices or better food for the high price.

Pro: PERFECT creme-brûlée

Pros: Cute environment , Great wine options , Very good creme-brûlée

Cons: Unclear gluten-free options, Too expensive , Food a bit tasteless

Bad experience

Review is a bit late - we came back in the summer. We arrived shortly before brunch ended but they said they could take us. They ended up sitting us in a table of 4, sitting right next to 2 other people which was a bit awkward. We ordered the vegan omelette and some other bowl that looks like it has been removed from the menu (had lentils, vegan sausage and the rest I forget. The bowl was way too oily and savoury - it didn't taste good - good to see that it was removed from the menu. The vegan omelette was something else.. It came on a mini butcher's block and had so much oil that a puddle had dripped onto the table over the course of the meal. The taste wasn't anything special but the excessive oil really did not help. Might come back one day, but definitely not for brunch.

Cons: Way too much oil, Bad seating

Beautiful Restaurant and Delicious Vegan Food!

LOV was a really cute and charming vegan restaurant located in an historic building in downtown Montreal. The interior was beautifully decorated and it had a modern and upscale feel, with lots of plants and comfortable seating. I loved the atmosphere!

I ordered the Power Bowl salad and it was delicious. The menu had lots of great options!

The restaurant was within close walking distance from Old Montreal, making it very convenient to visit.
