Ice shop serving shaved ice with dehydrated pineapples (鳳梨冰), on its own or with accompaniments like sour plums, roasted wheat flour, fresh lemon, grass jelly, roselle jelly, etc. Other vegan options are juices, sodas, teas, and the lemon shaved ice (檸檬冰). Ask for without “milk/dairy” (奶). All the agricultural products used are sourced from Taiwanese farms, and 90% of the ingredients are made in-house without corn fructose or artificial ingredients. Open Mon 11:00am-7:00pm, Wed-Fri 11:00am-7:30pm, Sat 11:00am-6:30pm, Sun 11:00am-6:00pm.

My favorite Taichung ice shop - Edit
I’m sad that they decided to stop offering the 3-in-1 combination ice in 2020 even though they have all of the ingredients to make it. You can only order either pineapple with roselle jelly or pineapple with grass jelly, not all three together. But everything tastes just as good as I remember from last summer. My mom (not vegan) enjoyed her yellow plum condensed milk ice. The owner told her that they found a farm while wandering around Nantou that leaves the plums on the tree to ripen so that they become a golden color and acquire a unique aroma from their maturity before being picked. Not many farms do this anymore since the opportunity cost is much higher than just plucking the plums while they’re still green to make into dried plums.

I love coming here for my shaved ice fix and prefer to dine in rather than take out to save on generating more trash. My absolute favorite item on the menu is the 3-in-1 combination pineapple ice (三合一), which comes with grass jelly and roselle jelly. The only problem is that it’s only available in the summer months (April-October), so I make do with other choices the rest of the year. Try the pineapple ice with roasted wheat flour (鳳梨麵茶冰, dine in only) if you’re wanting to try something quite unique, traditional, and slightly adventurous. The pineapple ice with plums (鳳梅冰) is also nice if you like sour plums. The interior is also quite cute. LGBTQ friendly!
Pros: all-natural ingredients, locally sourced produce, great value
Cons: irregular evening hours, take-out only in the last half hour
