I ordered the mushroom taco and falafel taco with chips and guac. The food was so good and I disagree with others about the tortillas. They were good and the food was really flavorful!
I would probably give 4 if they had decent tortillas. These taste exactly like cardboard and are never soft. Everyone I’ve been with says the same. Everything inside the tacos are okay, great sauce options, and drinks too. But these are truly terrible tortillas. I’ve never had any this bad. :/
For vegan options they usually have 2-3 tacos. To clarify, it doesn’t mean it’s an actual traditional taco. I’ve had a falafel gyro in a tortilla here once that was pretty good. Also beets in a tortilla.
UPDATE 7/30/2024: tortillas are MUCH better!! Had a falafel taco and braised tofu taco. Tofu was a little bland, but the falafel taco was amazing. Tortillas were flour, thicker, and held up well. It might be the hibiscus tortillas that aren’t good? They have some tacos with those so just a warning.
I was so excited to try the vegan tacos, so I ordered the tofu, the beets, and the mushroom tacos. The thickest and tough tortillas I've ever eaten! Only the mushroom taco had flavor. The tofu taco had dry, unflavored tofu. Hardly any sauce. The beet taco was tasteless. If I find myself there again (doubtful) only the mushroom taco is edible.
The reviewer who said the tortillas are awful is spot on.
The vegan options are clearly labeled. The beet taco tastes like canned beets on a terrible tortilla with some sauce added. The mushroom taco tastes like canned mushrooms on a tortilla with some sauce added. The tofu taco is a single piece of unflavored tofu on a terrible tortilla with some sauce added. The best vegan taco by far is the falafel taco because the falafel has some flavor. Still on a terrible tortilla.
The cowboy cavier was great. The guacamole was a bit too acidic but fine. The ghost pepper cranberry salsa was sweet and had no heat.
The margaritas here are the real star of the show. We tried the smoky pear and chili mango. Both were excellent.
My omnivore parents enjoyed their meat based tacos. Go here with your meat eating friends and have a couple margaritas before you eat so you don't care what the mediocre vegan food tastes like.
Asked my husband if he would meet me after work for weird tacos. We didn't know what to expect, but we're very pleasantly surprised. The person who took our order was very helpful and friendly and our tacos were delicious. I always love finding places where my husband (not vegan) and I can both get great food that we really enjoy. I had the falafel and a special of the day, the Thai-fu. Peanut sauce, cabbage, tofu etc. Right across the street is Swanky Scoop with both vegan and dairy ice cream.
Separate vegan menu! Love having those options. I ordered the tofu and mushroom tacos. They both lacked flavor but the mushroom one was the best. The chips are too thick for my preference.
Husband is a meat eater and ordered the pork belly and shrimp tacos. The shrimp taco is sweet which he didn’t care for.
Overall, good experience and we’ll be back to try some of the other items on the menu.
One of only a few places with vegan options in this area, this place has a number of vegan tacos, including specials, and they are quite creative and very good. It's one of the top 3 places for vegan tacos in the whole Puget Sound area, in my opinion (the others being Centro in Burien and the Ay Guey food truck). Their tortillas are excellent, which might sound like a small thing, but that can really make a taco. I do wish more of the vegan tacos included a protein--only one did when we went, but they were all delicious anyway. There is limited outdoor seating. I would give 5 stars but only 4 are allowed since it's not fully vegan.
